This unit is a far better option than the battery unit. It's smaller and it relies on wired power meaning if you live in a cool climate, you don't need to worry about battery drain. Wish I had gotten this one first!

It was easy to install with the adapter I ordered directly from the google store. It plugged straight into the wall with it! It has been recording anything that moves in view. I just wish the web view had better filtering. Aside from that, it does its job well!

I am very pleased with the quality of not only the doorbell but also the sound and video that the doorbell produces. This is the 2nd one I'm purchasing to add to another door on our home

There is alot of pros to this product. Free video recording, even when power is out, and on board storage instead of just relying on the cloud. Better housing design. Different colors to choose from to match your aesthetic/theme of house. But there is also big cons, the camera quality has gone down. Even though it is 1080P, google states it is better because of HDR processing. Looks good on paper, not a display. The veiwing angle has also gone down. So plan on purchasing a aftermarket wedge in order to get the best angle in most cases. I do like googles smart devices, but maybe the next one will be an actual upgrade. Ok for the price and features.

Not much to say other than, if you are a google person, this works will work perfectly in your ecosystem. I have had this for almost two years now and LOVE having it "Watch" my house for me. It even tells me when specific members of my family are home by name!

Upgraded from the 1st Gen. This one works great. The old one stopped working and didn't look as good as this one.

I searched in the internet and for home security because most of my neighbors has some sort of video cam door devices. And decided to go with gug nest. Of installation was reliable and quick. Of course you need a drill bit. But now days most of your friends has some kinds of drills to be borrowed. So after 20 minutes of installation. It only took another 15 minutes to link your nest doorbell to home wifi then link to your cellphone. And you can hear and gets notifications when someone is near the camera. Oh yeah you can speak and talk by using you cellphone Google link to nest. Now me and my wife are able to see what's happening @ home when both of us is @ work or not home.

I replaced a Gen 1 Nest doorbell with a Gen 2 Nest. Google Home is now the only way to look at Gen 2 (Nest software only works on Gen 1) and it is disappointing. I think the Nest software was much better. Google can do better than this. First, I cannot capture the clouds moving by against a blue background (unless it is already captured as an event) or any other event I would like to capture (like tearing up a driveway and pouring a new one) other events that could make great videos for grand kids! Frequently, there is a huge delay where I don't see how the talking would be effective. The photo is not in landscape like it used to be. Google put your A team on this! I wish I had at least reviewed Ring this time.

I bought this in October and I was able to use Halloween sounds when the bell was pressed. The video quality is amazing!

This is an upgrade from the original version. There many noticeable enhancements to the second gen. For instance the body is more flush and sleek looking than the two toned model. The camera can see extremely well, better than the original. What I also like is that the kit includes a wedge adapter so that if you have a doorbell that’s parallel to your door but facing the side, you can get an angle on the camera to face it out better (you can purchase separate wedges that offer more of an angle. The only thing that prevents me from giving this a slightly better rating is the Google Home app. It’s not that great. It can add your new doorbell easily and will guide you through the process but general day to day use, it’s not very intuitive. The old Nest app was way better.
