Installation is easy if you follow along with the directions using the app. Inside the chime box, the newer model has less wires than the 1st generation one did. Instead of using the converter, you just attach the wires directly. Once installed I was getting too much wall on the right side of the camera, so I took it down and put it back up with the included wedge installed. That gave me a camera angle I desired, You need to use the Google Home app and might have to change the notification settings if you want to get the activity notifications to your device.

Replaced my Gen 1 Nest doorbell

I like the looks of the new one. Price is reasonable but a bit higher than some of the competitors. All the same features from my first one. Setup is pretty straight forward. Took me longer to mount it than set it up. Good camera and I'm overall happy with it.

Installation was very easy via the use of an online video which clearly laid out for each step what had to be done. Be advised that if you have an older and perhaps weaker transformer powering your current system and you want to use this with an electronic door bell that you may have a problem. If all you have is a electrical mechanical bell you'll probably be ok. Finally, be careful when inserting the security screw on the top of the doorbell. It's very small and easily droped and lost. Replacements are available on ebay.

The camera quality is amazing and clear for night viewing as well. Need to purchase nest aware I think get all of the benefits this doorbell can do (going to purchase soon). Definitely worth the money.

Worth the upgrade - better everything than Gen 1

It’s a larger video in the app, better quality video, doesn’t cut out much if at all, looks are better than Gen 1 and also just used same wires. Very simple and well worth it upgrade if you’re thinking about it.

Nice but the Google Home experience is whatever

My issue is mainly with Google and their Google Home app and software experience overall. It hasn't improved in years and is extremely buggy. Someone rings the doorbell and it just spins or stays dark forever. By the time it works, the person is gone or inside the house. The Google Home experience has been so bad since they switched from the Nest App that I pivoted away from their products for my new house.

The picture on the camera is a great quality. The app is easy to use, I have notifications on so I can see when anyone is In front or on the front sides of my home. Highly recommend.

Liked the old Hello video and app better

I needed to rig more of an angle on the bracket so I could see everything I needed to see on my porch. Sound is better and more sensitive than Nest Hello, but the Google Home app is much worse. Not as intuitive and responsive. Better and smarter at generating alerts, but the notifications don't arrive as quickly. Also more annoying to scrub back and forth in the timeline.
