The picture is clearer and picks up motion/people faster. Installation is very easy and integrated with my other Google systems from the get go. Got a 15% off by trading in my old doorbell.

The new version has a better design and installation process than the previous one, but it's inconvenient because it doesn't connect to the app.

Google Nest Doorbell 3rd Generation

Switching over was super easy as all the mounting parts and wires are exactly the same. The picture quality and angle are much improved. It's a lot easier to make out more details in faces and objects all around. The face-matching feature works a bit better probably because of this. Sound is high quality and similar to the last generation. I haven't noticed much of a difference with gemini being integrated, but I imagine I will with more time.

The original Nest had extra wires attached to the disk that comes with the devices. I got cold feet in attempting to fix so I called an electrician who was quickly able to safely attach the wires competing the circuit.

I use Alexa for routines and google cameras can't be used as a motion trigger. The option is there, but it won't work. I guess this is more of an Alexa failure though. Pretty good and stylish doorbell.

The AI is a nice touch, but it's not always right yet. If you have the previous version, I would stick to it since other than the video quality, I don't see a reason to upgrade it.
