The camera on this is very clear and has the option to increase or decrease resolution based on how much bandwidth you are able to use. Easy to install the product and app is user friendly. The only negatives would be you can not save videos out of the box. You will have to subscribe to nest monthly service (worth the couple bucks a month). Also, if camera goes offline it is sometime difficult to reconnect via Bluetooth.

We switched from a Ring doorbell due to it's inconsistent coverage and we will never switch back! The quality is so much better with the Nest and the features like facial recognition are value added. I would recommend to anyone looking for a smart doorbell or front door camera.

Best Video Doorbell in the market

After a a couple of years using SkyBell smart doorbell, I finally caved and bought a Nest Hello Smart Doorbell and I couldn't be happier. Installation took me about 2 hours including setting up the doorbell on the App. The instructions on the App made it simple to install with easy to follow pictures. I have a digital doorbell which supplies enough voltage to the doorbell without needing any external power supply. The 24x7 recording makes it super simple to review any time, even when the sensor doesn't detect motion. The App is simple to use and has a quick response time, even though the data is on the cloud. I'm able to quickly jump to various spots on the timeline without much of a lag. The doorbell integrates into your Google home easily and I'm able to get a live feed on my Nest Hub Smart Display, which is awesome. Overall, great buy!

Easy to install, just be sure voltage at door bell is within range. Comes with pod to control mechanical door bell. Video of camera displays on Google hub when doorbell button presses. Can ask Google anytime to display video to hub or chromecast TV. PHONE is informed of activity. View remotely.

Easy to install and works seamlessly with the Nest app. Install took 15 minutes including set up in the app. The video quality is better than expected and has a very wide viewing angle. Notifications (Person, Motion etc) are very accurate. The microphone and speaker also work very well despite a second or so of lag.

Super clear picture during the day. Clear during night if lighting is good if not turns into black and white night view which is still decent. Great wide view easy to install with separate ac adapter unit if you don't have a pre-existing doorbell. Works well with phone, nest hub, and home minis. The nest aware service is reasonably priced and worth the $5 a month/ $50 a year.

    Zones don't work

I like the view, it's great and the facial recognition is cool too. The reason why I took two stars off is because I set up the zones so that I don't get notified when everyone and their mother walks by. It says a person was detected in the zone but when I look at the view they are like 20 feet away. Our zone is set up within a 2 foot radius from our door since we are in a condo. None of our neighbors or people coming in the building come close to the zone we setup but we still get non-stop messages and it drains my battery. I have to keep them on because we need to know when someone comes up to our door and don't ring the bell or drop off a package. It also says there has been a package dropped off if someone is walking by with bags in their hands. It's pretty annoying. And considering we are paying extra for this service is really frustrating. I do think it is more expensive than it should be and the extra cost for facial recognition and having the zones is hardly worth it.

I've used some video doorbell in the past, but this one is the best one so far. High Video quality, fast notification. Easy to set up . If you want to fully use all the features, you'll need to subscribe to NestAware.

    Better than Ring Products

I was a Ring Doorbell user since 2 years ago and thought it was the best doorbell product out there. I had seen the Nest Hello and never thought about switching. We ended up buying Google Home minis as well as the Google Home Hub. I saw that the Ring was not compatible with the Google Home and saw that it was compatible with Nest Hello. We were already using Nest Thermostats in our home and noticed that the Nest Hello was cheaper than the Ring Pro. Replaced our Ring with the Nest Hello and HAVE NOT regretted it. The app is miles better than the Ring app. It lets you identify faces so that when the doorbell rings and it recognizes someone, it will tell you who is at the door. The alerts and recordings are in the Nest app are so much better! They send you a screenshot of what the camera captured so that you can check if it is worth it to open the video and investigate what is going on. The Ring simply sends you an alert that motion was detected and by the time you open the app to see the video, it's too late. Nest Hello is superior and would recommend replacing your Ring with it.

The installation was fairly straight-forward. Nest did a good job with the way they tell you to install. Ran into a snag but it was because of the way my wires were run in the house. Got in touch with their support quickly and the tech was very helpful. Up and running. Good images in daylight. Could be little better in night vision. Like the integration with Google Home

Love the Nest doorbell. I originally bought a Ring but decided to return and wait for the Nest to come available. I wanted have all my Nest products on the same ecosystem. The best thing I could have done. The picture quality is excellent for a doorbell and I like the alerts when someone is in the area of your property.

Google has it covered from the online compatible questions, which led you to know if your current doorbell can be replaced by the Nest Hello Doorbell, to the Google Home App, that leads you step by step during installation. The video is crisp, and easy to navigate.

Very clear visual and sound alerts, uses existing doorbell wiring and chime which make it very easy to install in older homes. Unlike its competitor does not allow access to police monitoring and has much greater security features where consumer privacy is a concern. I dinged it one star because unless you find a good sale the Nest Hello is a very expensive doorbell.

Great product but check your current transformer

This worked at first and when it did, it was great! But my transformer failed to continuously send it power and it eventually began going offline. Now I can’t even get a blue light or anything out of it. I haven’t gotten the chime to work because of that either so I can’t speak to how it sounds or works. I ordered a new transformer per nest powering guidelines but that’s also proving to be difficult to install. My house was built in 1996 so while not super old, it’s far from new either. I’m now looking to purchase the adaptor to just plug it in and use my new nest home hub to make announcements instead of the chime. I just wish I didn’t have to though. Knocking off one star for the adaptor not being provided with the package. It would have been nice to have the option of either/or without having to make an additional purchase for an already expensive product. Just an FYI - I have the eero pro 6 with a beacon and super fast internet, so it has nothing to do with connectivity issues as far as that goes. Be sure to check your wires and current transformer. It’s still completely worth it to purchase but also good to be prepared to have a backup plan.

During Christmas there was a good deal on the Nest doorbell where it was combined with a Google Home Hub for a discount, and each came with free Google minis. I decided to get the doorbell, although I didn't really need it. I had just installed a Nest Outdoor Cam over the same door. But, it's nice to have the doorbell, too, since it alerts you when someone rings. With the Nest Aware subscription you get person recognition, and with the Google mini and hub, it can announce who is at the door if you have saved their face from a previous time. The Nest Aware subscription is a little pricey, but you can get a less expensive subscription that saves only five days of video for less. That's more than enough for me. Also, the video from the door automatically appears on the Google Home Hub when someone rings. It's easy to save video clips and share them. The app is good. It occasionally locks up and I have to restart the app, but overall it works well, and I can also pull up the video on my PC. The Nest installation materials and instructions are fantastic. They even included a drill bit with the doorbell if I needed to drill into brick or concrete. Ironically, I had a need to do that with the Nest outdoor camera, and it didn't come with that bit. But, the packaging and materials on both product are way above average for what you normally get. The instructions were very clear and there are videos that help.

I love it, has a wide view and great image quality. Zooming in decreases the quality dramatically and is virtually useless if you’re looking for detail. The sound quality isn’t great. It alerts me pretty quick when someone’s at the door or it detects motion.
