It gives a still shot that usually does not show anything useful (for example someone’s back or the part where they’re out of view). It also alerts for motion but then doesn’t show a clip of the motion. Now if you plan to buy the monthly subscription, it may work fine. However I can’t believe Nest thinks that limiting their product in this way is acceptable. I do not need a 24/7 stream of my front door. I do need to be able to actually view the activity that this device is supposed to monitor. So disappointed. I will be very unlikely to add to my collection of smart home devices made by them unless they rectify this issue.

I have purchased many of their products over the years starting with the first generation NEST thermostat. I have constantly been blown away with the look, feel and quality of NEST products. They have done it again with the clean lines and smooth design that you always expect from these guys. Set up is simple but takes an hour or so to get it all set up and installed. No biggie there. In my case my door bell didn't face my door but with the supplied angle mount I get the needed angle to get a good clean HD picture of my walk way. Face recognition, what?! So cool except they make you pay to use this feature monthly. $5 a month minimum, not a big deal either. Was also able to link it up to my Google assistant for true home integration. I don't really see any issues so far, I'm super happy with all of it, even the app is simple and fluid. Why are you still reading this, you should have clicked buy it now already and been done reading my babel.
