Bought one to test was awesome, ordered 4 more and the doorbell. Before you assume - I have 1gigbit service and a mesh network with rock solid wifi everywhere. Hooked up the doorbell and everything went south. Slow response, by the time I walked into the house, saw myself (outside) on the camera. Makes one feel secure - returned for Arlo. bad night vision but least they done freeze up

This product is a complete waste of money and a piece of garbage! Save your money. This product only detects a person if they are smack up to the camera. It will not detect a person a little further away on your walkway or property. You will get notifications of every car that passes by in the middle of the street or every bird that chirps but no notification of a person! What is the purpose of this camera if it does not detect people?! Save yourself the aggravation of getting notifications every second of the day and night of nonsense activity and having to pay for a yearly subscription to store footage of this irrelevant activity. I had to turn all notifications off because it was becoming very annoying and distracting. Customer support is nonexistent too.

I cannot actually review the doorbell itself because I did not install it; I returned it. Reason being, since I do not use my own doorbell on my own house, I did not realize it faces inward and not outward towards my driveway and my street, so if I installed this Nest Doorbell, then it wouldn't capture anything. I should have looked more closely first. I called a Nest installer, but they don't move doorbells and rewire things (then I'm not sure of their point); they said I had to call an electrician to move my existing doorbell to an outward facing position and then he would come out to install my Nest Doorbell. So I called an electrician; he wanted to charge me a minimum of $150 to move my current doorbell. No way. So I returned it and bought an outdoor Wi-Fi camera instead, where I could install wherever I wanted. Google should really "idiot proof" their directions and their YouTube video for people like me to really check their doorbell situation first before purchasing.

I wish had read the reviews and comment more carefully before purchasing this device. The talk feature does not work with Samsung phones, there will be a huge loud echo heard outside through the Hello making it impossible to talk to someone at the door. This appears to be a know issue with Google for over a year and still no fix. Unfortunately, it took a while to find an installer and now i cant return it. Worse than that, i have a bunch of other google connected home products as well. If you're unable to tuck the wires back into the house then it's pretty much impossible to install this doorbell while maintaining a professional look. It doesn't come with any bracket to correct the angle up or down; I possibly could have made some sort of custom shim, but that would have made it look tackier than it already does.

I've been looking forward to this doorbell for a while. I receive a lot of deliveries and also leave packages on my front porch for pick up by the Post Office. I always breathe a sigh of relief when my email confirmation comes through that my package has been picked up. I work 7:30-5:00 most weekdays, and my local Post Office is open 8:00-5:00, so that doesn't leave me with too many options. I'm always afraid that someone other than the Post Office will grab my package. The Nest Hello has really given me some peace of mind about packages on my front porch. With the alerts and clear picture, I can see who's at my door in real time. I also love the Familiar Face alert, super convenient. I almost want someone to come up to my door just so that I can get on the microphone and scare them off...ALMOST. I was a little apprehensive about set-up, but it went smoothly albeit a little slowly because I made sure to check and double check every step as I went along. That was just me being paranoid about making a mistake though! This is my first smart doorbell, and I love it! I've heard mixed reviews about others on the market, but I haven't experienced any issues with the Nest. I'm also planning to pay the $5/month plan for the extra video playback and features, one of the better deals I've seen for any kind of home security.

After installing, only took 8 days and a rain storm to fill up lens area with condensation. Covered porch but did get a little rain on it. Temps were 37 to 70 degrees. There is absolutely no excuse for this! We owned a basic first version ring doorbell for five years and had no issues. It was mounted and same exact spot. If you take the time to search out reviews on this particular doorbell, you will see that this is common occurrence. Love the features and before the condensation issue, it worked wonderfully. Research before buying!I am returning and getting another ring camera.

NEST is not offering solar or battery powered devices. It has to be hardwired. I was not able to install it!

many friends own Ring and im one of the few to buy a Nest door cam. Very disappointed in the one i purchased. Paid for professional install and had Charter communications try to set it up as well. Needless to say it was defective and i lost install money i paid. Lesson learned, buying a Ring system.

Thought google would be more intuitive. I have the ring on my other house and prefer it

Up and running for about 24 hours now, and so far everything is working perfectly. INSTALLATION If you've ever installed a Nest product before, you know that Nest does an excellent job with their instructions. They have a video on YouTube, as well as easy to understand step by step directions in the app. One note - make sure your Nest app is up to date, otherwise if you scan the barcode, the app won't recognize it. Installation was very simple and straightforward. The hardest part was trying to locate the correct circuits to shut down for the installation process. After not finding one labeled correctly (the electrician's fault), just shut the main breaker off to kill the power to the whole house. Following the app step by step is very simple with some basic DIY skills. Total install time (including messing with the breakers) was about 15-20 minutes. Make sure that when you're installing the chime connector that it (or the wire) doesn't touch either of the chimes inside the box, or your chime may not ring properly - easy fix, just move the wires around. A 15 degree "wedge" is also included that allows you to angle the doorbell so you see more of the porch and less of the wall - I didn't think I'd need it at first, but ended up installing it after all. Our doorbell is about 6" from the door, so if your doorbell is at a similar distance, you'll probably want to use the wedge. Once you've got the doorbell physically installed, the app will help you connect it to your WiFi network. If you've got a nearby Nest product, the doorbell will actually use that connection (via Bluetooth I believe) to help set it up. That process took only a minute or two (if you've already got a Nest account set up and running), however one thing to note, if you turn your whole house power off, wait for your WiFi router to boot back up before finishing the install on the app, or the app will give you an error (since it can't connect online). VIDEO QUALITY/FEATURES The video quality (both daytime and night time) is superb. You're basically getting a full Nest camera, with a doorbell. Night vision comes on automatically as needed. If you go into the camera settings you can put the doorbell on "Quiet Mode" aka Do not disturb, which will prevent the doorbell from ringing inside the house. The doorbell itself (outside) does chime, so the person knows they pressed it, but you won't hear it inside - you do get a notification on the app though. After someone comes to the door you can enable "familiar faces" which allows you to have the doorbell start recognizing and building a profile for your frequent visitors. Haven't messed with this too much yet, but it looks like you can interface with Google Home to get audible announcements of who is at your door. OVERALL So far this device has definitely exceeded my expectations. After hearing many of our neighbors complain about a competing video doorbell I was a little hesitant to buy one, but Nest really knocked it out of the park with this one. Would definitely recommend.

Although this is a well known door bell camera, it doesn't come with installation instructions!

Nest was a great camera, sadly I returned it and got the right elite 3

I took it back to the store because I dont see the benefit of button-activated camera over "plain" motion-activated camera. I also heard that Nest Hello can take 20 seconds or more to contact me with photo of button-presser, which is too long for a doorbell.

It is a OK device, and needs improvements in video/voice/response time.

Difficult to install, but worked great once we got it up and going.

Can’t say as I bought this as a gift for my sons family. He has not installed yet.
