Everything works except the chime. Same thing happened to one of my family members door bell system too. I think none of these google doorbell chimes work at all.

This product worked great, until if failed before the two year limited warranty. It was working fine until it burned out my chime, yes burned. Fortunately I was home when it started smoke so I disconnected it. I won't reinstall one because I'm afraid it will burn the house down. I called Google and they said that maybe it was the chime connector and sent me a new one. I've since replaced the chime connector, transformer, and chime. It still doesn't work and I've spent hours with tech support. Don't buy it because they don't back their products.

This product would be great if it worked on both mine and my wife’s phone but it only works on hers. Very disappointed.

Disappointed that I couldn’t connect it. Apparently it was incompatible with the current system and had an annoying buzzing sound so I had to return it.

This smart doorbell is surprising in the quality of the audio and video it produces. Installation was very simple, watching the install video almost took longer than the install itself. Most common installs are flipping a breaker and turning 6 screws ( two inside chime, two for doorbell and two to attach doorbell to house) My only gripe is the size of the attachment to the chime. A flatter wider design would make it easier to install behind the cover. If your doorbell button is not directly next to the door, use the wedge that is included. You can turn the phone sideways to view a wider angle from the camera if someone is too close to the door. The only problem, the video is slightly distorted like looking through a slight fish eye lens. Overall, install was a snap. Quality is great. The app is straightforward and simple. Pretty much like any app from a Alphabet/Google company.

Geek squad can’t install this product properly even after two visits to my house. On first visit I was told the transformer needs to be replaced which I did and today they told me that the chime needs to be wired by electrician, after they drilled holes in the front. Now after a month I don’t have a working doorbell in my house

It’s very confusing to know when the camer is going to work or not. Sometimes it turns itself off when you think you need it on- other times it’s on when you wish it was off. Also very confusing to know when you’re supposed to be using Google home versus the nest app and lots of confusion about which one you’re supposed to be signed in to. I am very disappointed with this product.

I have an Arlo Pro 2 monitoring our front porch area but with the Nest Hello, I'm going to have to find a new location for the Arlo. The Nest Hello does everything the Arlo does but it's also a doorbell. We had our handyman come and install b/c I couldn't find the breaker for our doorbell and didn't feel comfortable doing the install with live wires, despite it being low voltage. After the install was done and I came home from work, I d/l'd the app, created an account and got the Hello onto my network. It was all very easy to do. As others have said already, the video quality is excellent, the ability to talk to the person at the door is useful and the app/phone integration is great. All in all, I'm very happy with the Nest Hello but now need to find a new place for the Arlo.

A Great Product Hindered by the Paywall

Slowly but surely, I've been updating the primitive areas of my house, from the thermostat to the smoke detectors, and the Nest Hello is the latest device I've gotten to make my home more "smart." This may be the best device yet. Setting up the Nest Hello was incredibly easy. My home was built in 2007, and already had the necessary wiring to use the Nest Hello; those who have older systems may need to hire a pro to update their wiring. The app walks you through the admittedly simplistic steps of wiring in the chime connector (really easy with the push connectors) and connecting the doorbell. The biggest hurdles I had to overcome were to find which breaker controlled the doorbell and that my previous doorbell, installed on the siding of my house, was mounted too close to an overhang, so I needed to reposition things a bit. Again, setup was really simple and can be done by anyone, short of needing to rewire your chime. From there, getting connected to my network was also simplistic. Since I already have a Nest Protect, the app instructed me to push the button on it to initiate the connection with the doorbell. This was completely seemless, and required no manual input on my part. Well done, Nest. From there, it walked through some additional steps (does your doorbell work, for instance). Start to finish, I was up and running in 15 minutes. The first thing I noticed when using this was how good the video quality is. Nest decided to give the camera a 4:3, taller aspect ratio which works incredibly well in this application and gives you a very wide and complete picture of the doorbell's surroundings. Video quality is adjustable, and in a nice touch, Nest shows a data usage estimation for those who are on data caps at home. The additional features of this doorbell are both the best and worst things about it. I think the biggest differentiating feature is the familiar face ability, allowing you to name people that come to your door. Over time, the Nest learns who people are based on this and will then announce their arrival. Simple feature but really great, especially when combined with a Google Home device, which will tell you who's at the door (assuming you've tagged them previously). The downside to this is that you need a subscription, which starts at $50 per year. Another downside to the subscription model is that Nest has elected only include 3 hours of video history for users choosing not to get the subscription. While a subscription isn't 100% necessary, you're missing out on the main functionality of the Hello without one, unfortunately. One potential major issue with the Hello that I have not tested yet is the fact that it operates only down to a temperature 14 degrees F. Living in Wisconsin, this will undoubtedly be an issue as we spend a significant chunk of the year around or below 14 degrees. My hope is that it will at the very least still sound the doorbell, just not give you the video functionality, but I guess I'll see the next time the temps drop. Overall, this is a great product. Well guided setup and a wealth of features make this one of the best on the market, hindered only by the fact that you need to pay a yearly subscription to use those features.

We've been using it for over a year now. Camera would often disconnect and would not come back online for days. Notifications are delayed. Sometimes alerts are not sent at all. When it works it's good. But I am sure you can get similar features and reliability elsewhere.

I have strengthen my wifi by using Wifi 6 and still the camera manages to go offline and it has to be reset every time it happens. Only had camera since Dec 2019 and had this happen to me 5x already. It is getting annoying and out of hand. Also changed the transformer and still keeps going offline!! All is good with the doorbell except for the connection.

We’ve had the doorbell just over 2 years. The laminate is flaking off the face of the door bell and the plastic/acrylic face plate is cracking due to UV exposure. This is pretty bad considering our doorbell is deeply set away from the elements under a semi-enclosed patio. Also it no longer singles the door chime inside the house. Often it disconnects from the wifi. Very frustrating.

I got this door bell thinking I could connect it to a tablet, mybad for not doing mroe research. You have to have a Good Hub. The google Hub only connects to google devices and does not have a web browser you can only search via "hey Google" Pretty much okay for checking the weather and if you are always in the kitchen when the door bell rings, otherwise its pretty useless. Ring has a better solution you can use your mobile apps.

If I had written this review a week ago, I would have given it 5 stars. I've used my wired Nest Doorbell for a little over half a year now, and I like most things about it. For the last four days there has been no live video feed on the three Nest video screens, no live video feed when viewing on the Nest web page, and no live video feed using the Nest app (android). I still image can be seen on the app as well as each time the web page is reloaded. No way to get any sort of image (video or still) on any of the Nest video screens. I've talked to other people who believe that it is due to cold temperatures. I'll break down the PROs and CONs" PRO: Installation was fairly pain-free. PRO: Good quality. PRO: Very wide field of view. PRO: It alerts all the GoogleHome gimmicks you have when someone rings the doorbell. I have 11 Minis and 3 Nest Hubs, so no matter where I am I will hear the doorbell. PRO: It differentiates between movement, a person, a package, and people you know (as long as you pay the (optional) monthly fee). It still functions without paying the monthly fee, but you lose out on "familiar faces" and video stored in the cloud. CON: Price. The Nest is about ten times the price of the Wyze video doorbell. CON: apparently doesn't work in cold temperatures (so about six months out of the year in Minnesota). Probably works just fine in California, Texas, Florida, Arizona. CON: Other than delivery people, most people don't know how to use it as a doorbell and will just knock on your door instead. CON: I have very strong wifi, but the video doorbell will lose its connection for a minute or so once or twice each hour.
