In the box there were no instructions. You will need to use the Nest app to get directions and watch a video of the install process to get the doorbell and chime connector installed. The box otherwise has everything you will need. You will first need to make sure you have a 10VA transformer wired to your current doorbell. These can be located anywhere in line with the doorbells wiring and mine was in the wall box directly behind my door chime. The install was not difficult but it was time consuming having to go back and forth with the app and video and the install. Once everything was in place and I had power to the doorbell I had to reset my phone because of some issues connecting via Bluetooth with the doorbell but after the reset the doorbell connected quickly and final setup was quick. I like how you get a notice on your phone within seconds of someone pressing the doorbell with a photo to let you know someone is at the door. It also has the ability to notify you if it senses a person standing at the door who does not press the doorbell. The video is clear and covers our entire front porch. The app is easy to use and the video feed is easy to get to and watch. The only problem I ran into was when I tried to log into Nest online to view the feed from my camera. Using Google Chrome there was no issue and I could view the video feed, however I could not view the video using Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer. Where the video should have been was just a loading icon but video never loaded. I tried on several different computers and ran into the same problem with Internet Explorer on each of them. Overall I do like the Hello Nest doorbell, however I’m not thrilled with the subscription service. You get a trial subscription for Nest Aware that lasts 60 days but once that is up you will need to pay to have access to the recorded video. $5 a month gets you access to only 5 days of video history, $10 a month gets you 10 days of history and $30 a month gets you 30 days of video history to access and this is per each individual camera. Compared to other video doorbell manufactures this is very pricy. Just to compare, you can get a Ring doorbell and for $30 a year you can get access to 60 days of video history. I have an Arlo security camera system that comes with 7 days of free cloud video storage for up to 5 cameras and an option to keep recorded video in the home on an external hard drive. I would like to see a little more offered by Nest in this area. Since the doorbell itself runs for $229 it should come with some free cloud storage and/or the ability to store video at home yourself on an external hard drive. It would be nice if Nest would allow the use of an external hard drive connected to the router to record the video feed. On top of this, the doorbell camera will eat up 150 to 600 GB of your monthly internet data plan since its always sending video to Nest. I wouldn't recommend this doorbell until Nest fixes the subscription service to be priced more customer friendly and/or allows customers the ability to store video from the doorbell themselves to an external hard drive.

    Much better than Ring!

I've had the Nest Hello doorbell for just under a year. Before that I had the Ring doorbell for about a year. The Nest is so much better! You'll need to subscribe to get the most out of it, but I like the ability to look back on the video timeline. I like it's facial recognition features. The facial recognition isn't perfect, but it's pretty useful. For example, when someone it knows ring the doorbell, it'll announce on Google Home Mini that person by name; if it doesn't know them, then it'll just announce that "someone is at the door." If someone walks up but doesn't ring you'll still get a notification on your phone (but without the announcement on the Home Mini). Also, the video stays in color as long as there are some lights on outside; the Ring doorbell's video went to go to B&W in the evening and cloudy days, but the Nest Hello video remains in color 99% of the time! You can also set several motion zones and audio alerts. Some Cons: Audio on video isn't great, it misses some activities that are not right in front of it, communicating with person at door through app isn't always the best, and you can't set motion zones to only record (without alerts) on the primary account (although you can disable certain zone alerts on secondary accounts). TIP: we only use the primary account to setup the zones and mostly use secondary accounts on a daily basis. That way we can look back at zone events on the timeline without being alerts every single time a car drives by!)

Sometimes you have to sit back and wonder how far we came with tech and the Nest Wifi Doorbell is a product we need in the digital age. out of a lot of products I've used this one has to be one of the ones I'm most proud of owning. the convenience and safety while looking to see who is outside your door with ease are truly remarkable. The Nest Wifi Doorbell features a speaker/microphone, a 4:3 aspect "HD" camera and have a field of view of 160 degrees along with the motion sensors. One cool thing about the design is that the Nest Hello Doorbell also has a LED ring that would help your visitors locate your doorbell at night and look right into it. it's also large enough for you to not miss it when looking into it. The design is pretty standard along with modern tech and would surely look nice outside of it. I would say this would be enough for a wireless doorbell but Nest has taken this to another level. The setup is easy and attaches to a normal doorbell with wiring, its simple to do and the instructions are easy to follow there is additional help on Youtube but its simple enough for a basic job. Once after the setup then you get to dive into the features of the doorbell. Facial recognition is apart of the Nest Hello Doorbell and it can identify the people it sees so that you can then customize the alerts you get. This works FLAWLESSLY! I haven't had any issues with it and since its the main feature its a winner in my book. Another AWESOME thing is that you get alerts with crystal clear photos. they pop up on your phone letting you know who at the door and send a message to delivery drivers to leave packages at the door if you want. You can record a greeting to friends and family. This product has so many features like hooking it up to google home and checking the temps of your house (if you have other Nest products.) IR for night vision, Familiar Face Alerts which knows who the people always coming to your house. It's just an overload of protection and a very good reason to not look elsewhere for Wifi Doorbells. API support is also coming so expect to see maybe things like UPS or USPS integration which I'm crossing my fingers for. Overall I don't think there is a better doorbell, I don't think there is a better Wifi doorbell, and I certainly don't think you could possibly get a better one than this. Personally, its everything one could want from a Wifi Doorbell and Nest/Google just showed no one can do it better. I wouldn't just recommend this to friends and family. I would recommend this to everyone. Nest Wifi Doorbell a fantastic product and one I would love to see them improve on. This bell is amazing flat out.
