Easy installation guided with the nest app. Haven’t had any issues other than sometimes the other person can’t hear me. Also the recordings don’t record all sides of the conversation, only the visitors side.

Nest hello works with cat5/6 wiring with ohmkat

Just wanted to mention that you can use this with cat 5/6 wiring--that is what we had put in new construction--so I did not have traditional doorbell wiring. We used ohmkat video doorbell power supply compatible with ring pro and with that my wiring guy was able to hook it up (I need to look in the basement to see how he connected it). I had been worried about that issue so I figured this post might help someone.

Takes a long time to connect with WiFi. Video is good but it takes way to long to connect so you miss seeing who's there. Find something else

TDLR: Internal Battery on the WIRED Nest Doorbell will eventually go bad and doorbell will not function properly. Sadly, Google Nest doesn't tell you that there is a non-user serviceable battery inside the wired Nest Doorbell. This battery acts kind of like a capacitor that gives extra juice to power the speaker inside the unit as well providing protection from voltage drops if you use a physical door chime. It's a very small LiPo battery that unfortunately, overtime, will slowly degrade and fail. It's an incredibly poor design decision by Nest. I honestly loved owning this doorbell as it works well, has some of the better features among video doorbell providers, and was pretty cool to own when it first came out. However, just a few months after my 2 year warranty passed. I noticed some strange behavior. When the doorbell is pressed, the unit will emit a sound simulating a chime. If the battery is going bad, the virtual chime will cut off mid ring and the led lights will go dark. Essentially, the Nest is rebooting itself because the weak LiPo battery can no longer keep up. When this happens, you won't get notifications and videos won't record upon button press. Motion sensor triggered video and live view will work fine as those depend upon the constant power provided by the transformer to the doorbell. Do a search online...this problem is beginning to pick up steam as a lot of semi-early adopters purchased these doorbells in 2018-2019. Maybe my expectations for a doorbell (that cost me $249) to last way more than 2 years is high (since it's not supposed to be reliant on a battery), but I don't think so. I live at the end of a cul-de-sac that does not get much traffic. I tried to set up zones and even only get alerts for people at my door, but the alerts would go off all night due to any form of light passing through the cul de sac. It was quite annoying. Picture quality was pretty good, but it was insanely over sensitive, and I could not tune out the motion alerts no matter what I tried. I let my subscription expire and stopped getting alerts. I would only get a notification if someone rang the doorbell, until I lost power one day and apparently it stopped ringing because it didn't automatically reconnect to wifi. I didn't know this until we had a food delivery who tried to ring the doorbell and it never rang. I rebooted it to finally get it to start ringing again (even inside), but now it just spins with no image. I regret buying the nest hello, and should have gone with the Arlo.

This is an awesome doorbell. It shows me when a package arrives, as well as any other activity outside my front door. You can set it to notify you for any activity, or just people coming to your door. It syncs to your Google account, and works really well in the Google home app. I've had it for about 9 months, and have zero complaints.

Had it for 2 years now, i had some minor issue's with it but eventually was fixed. Just last week the camera no longer ring the chime and no longer gets notified about someone ringing the doorbell. It still notifies me when people are at the door but thats it. Now i gotta buy a new one.

I have both the ring and nest door bell for different properties. The nest door bell is great because it lets you see a few hours of the day for free. Ring on the otherhand if you dont pay, you cant see anything.

Great doorbell but Google is messing it up!

We were originally very happy with our purchase of the Nest Hello doorbell. Great video quality, records all the time, good response to button press, and it just worked. The problem is that Google has begun to use cloud update to remove product features from the doorbell that originally drove the decision to buy the product. In August 2019, Google unilaterally changed consumer-owned camera/doorbell products so the status light is lite to notify those within view that they are being recorded and further flashes the status light to notify them when someone (homeowner) is viewing the doorbell stream. This poses a problem since unwanted visitors now clearly know if your camera/doorbell is working and if you have viewed them at your door. Just great, we bought the Nest Hello to help with interruptions from increased solicitor activity and disruptive neighbors but instead Google chose to breach our discretion by inform visitors when they were viewed. This seemed to angered one solicitor as he said he saw the flashing light, knew we were watching and proceeded to vandalize our porch while we were away. Thanks Google.

    fairly unreliable

I purchased this approximately one year ago. Overall, I've been fairly disappointed. Even with an electrician installing, he was unable to make the ringer work. The device is fairly unreliable. For some reason, it can take approximately 2 to 3 minutes to receive a notification. I have a Verizon Fios connection at 1 GB per second. By that time, the delivery person may have left. I've also found the email notifications quite unreliable. Overall, this is a mediocre product but I am not sure there is anything better on the market. It is also amazing to me that even newer devices do not have WPA3 security.

    BUYER BEWARE! DO NOT BUY!

When this doorbell works, it works great. But here is the problem. I bought one of these in September 2018 for my brand new house. It stopped working about two years later. I called Nest for support, and I was told "Sorry, its out of warranty, we can't help you". So I bought a replacement Feb. 3rd of 2021. That one also stopped working yesterday. I called Nest support again....got the same answer. It is 10 days past the warranty, with the exact same problem as the first, and they will not do anything. Now I have checked everything....transformer, chime, everything...and it was working fine up until yesterday, so I know it was installed properly. These things just up and quit one day, and when they do, you are just out of luck. I've spent over $500 on doorbells that don't work. Google Nest support is a total joke.

Nest Hello - Android Problem - BEWARE!!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

After reading reviews, I purchased the Nest Hello doorbell to replace my 2 year old Ring doorbell. If you have an Android cell phone BE WARNED that your Hello doorbell might echo back your own voice as you stand in front of the Hello doorbell and speak to the Hello unit. I spent 3 hours on the phone yesterday trying to resolve this voice echo problem and a blurry video problem as experienced on my Android cell phones. This is known issue if you Google it. But the first Next support person, and the second (tier 2) support person, appeared to know nothing about this problem. Be prepared to measure your door bell voltage (do you have a volt meter)? Be prepared to unmount your Hello doorbell and press the rear and front button to initiate a factory reset. Be prepared to learn that nothing resolves the problem. I'm writing this review a day later, because a actual engineer from Nest just called me to say that, yes, the engineering dept. knows about this problem. There's a software bug with the Android app. that fails to mute you cell phone microphone, so your cell phone loops your voice from the cell phone speaker, to the microphone, resulting in the Hello doorbell transmitting both the voices, and causing your own voice to feedback to you as you stand in front of the Hello doorbell and have a conversation. Oh, and yes, I have Android 8.0.0. And just an FYI, I loaded the Nest app on my iPad, and there was no sound echo problem. This was confirmed by the Nest engineer I spoke with, as the echo problem does not occur with iPhones. So,,,,,Android phone users, BEWARE!!! And all potential customers, be aware that blurry video occurs on both Apple and Android devices ( although the engineer told me it was possible to resolve the video problems). Too late, I'm returning the Hello Video Doorbell to Best Buy tomorrow. Future buyers....BEWARE!!! The Ring Doorbell may have it's faults, but I'm definitely not a fan, after trying my very first Nest product, the Hello Video Doorbell.
