    Nest Doorbell (battery) - hardware defects

    The new Nest Doorbell (battery) is a great idea but there are still hardware defects preventing proper installation. Maybe the problem is because this is a new version of the doorbell and they’re working out the kinds but after 3 hours working through this with the technical support team I’m returning the doorbell. I have the outdoor camera and that has been working great and I’d use the doorbell if it worked. So just heads up that there are some doorbells shipping that don’t work. Update - the Google Customer Service is atrocious. The chat in particular is frustrating as they are slow (45 minutes to process a return). After shipping a defective doorbell they still charge you for the original shipping cost.

    Received hello nest doorbell for Christmas. Had installed by Google technician. Failed in 2 weeks. Inside doorbell did not ring. Same technician returned and first viewed an online tutorial on his phone after looking at the ringer in the house. Without looking at the outside doorbell he told me my transformer did not send the needed 20 volts to the bell and could not address that because the transformer was not installed by Google. I had my electrician look at the problem. He found the transformer worked perfectly. He took the outside doorbell apart, crossed the wires and the inside bell worked. The problem was defective hardware, outside doorbell. Google has yet to respond to my communicating this and there is no phone number to call

    You'll spend more time troubleshooting than anything else. I have 3 Nest cameras; 2 Nest Hello's. I also own their thermostat. SO tired of "working fine in the afternoon then suddenly fritzed by evening." Constantly second-guessing your network, which every OTHER connected device has no problem with. Touching your phone to the Nest Hello yet still getting an error that it couldn't "find your camera." What an aggravating piece of junk! "Is the blue light on?" Yes, the camera was working earlier. "Can't find camera!" Hello? Ring? I'd like to order a doorbell camera please.

    Worked great.....until it didn't. Less than two years old. Just quit working. Nothing, not even a decent paperweight at this point. Too much competition to put up with this.

    Difficult to Connect and Has Hidden Fees

    I don't recommend this bell/camera because of the difficulty setting up particularly with trying to connect it with your existing door chimes. The only help is via chat and they can only suggest but answers were found from users online. The most significant issue is that the only way to use the key features is to subscribe for AT LEAST their minimum $8 per month storage/playback subscription otherwise they cut you off and can only see live events in real time. The camera has no memory and you cannot store to your phone, computer, or your existing cloud storage. For this reason alone I rated it a ONE STAR.

    Worthless without monthly subscription

    The doorbell is garbage if you don't subscribe to a monthly plan. It's amazing how it picks up every person and thing when you have the free trial the first month, but once it ends and you don't subscribe, it only picks up about a fourth of the traffic it did during the trial. I don't need 30 days of history, so shouldn't have to pay to show me traffic for the last few hours...

    Nest Doorbells are having issues, Google can't fix

    Always worked great until Nest was purchased by Google. Now the indoor chime no longer works. Many individuals have reported this issue to Google for over a year. I spent two days discussing the issue with Google technical experts (title only, they aren't that informative) and their suggestion was to but a new Ring doorbell. If you search the Google Forum, you will find that this issue also is occurring with all of the newer Nest Doorbells.

    Nest Doorbell - Fail

    Bought Nest Hello Camera. Already broken after 3 years of use. Called the company and they kept me on the phone for over 1.5 hours. They determined it is a camera hardware issue. Did absolutely nothing to replace, fix, or give me a discount on a new one. My friends have their Ring doorbell that works for years and years without issues. So disappointed with Nest which I used to highly recommend to all my friends.

    I hate this thing with a passion ever since google bought out nest. If your want the doorbell to function at all, you have to pay the monthly fee, which is 4x more expensive than the competition. The issues with the product are endless, but somehow everything magically resolves itself once you pay for the subscription. I’m getting a new doorbell and never purchasing another nest product again. What a waste of $200.

    Stops working every winter when the temp drops. In the two years I've owned it, it has stayed online about half of each year. Had it professionally installed, so not user error. "Support" from google was worthless. Complete waste of money (unless your are buying a decoration).

    I paid for a 1 year subscription and was to receive a free hub. They took my money and never sent the hub and never offered anything as recourse. I contacted them multiple times to resolve it but they couldn't figure out how to fix a simple problem of giving me a store credit as I was originally promised. False promises and deceit are ot traits of a company that I want to do business with.

    Have only had it for over a year and it’s already gone bad. The doorbell resets after being pressed so it’s basically useless. I’ve gone through multiple forums now and this seems to be a common issue with 1st Gen doorbells.

    Subscriptions with other Nest products no longer work. Nest Secure has no cellular backup anymore unless you pay $30/month! Nest Hello no longer gives ANY video feeds only a still shot.

    Terrible Takes a while to notify devices

    Bought the doorbell months ago and came from RING. Nest doorbell takes a minimum of 8 seconds to 1 min to notify your cellhpnes/ipads. This is confirm when technical support was contacted.

    The power terminals on the back of our Nest Hello failed after 2 years. Nest refused to do anything, because in the winter it gets below 5 degrees. Sounds like this may not be a viable option for anyone in the Northern half of the US.

    Unit has bad feedback. Very disappointing for such an otherwise reputable company. Customer service is terrible. 45 minutes on hold every time you call.

    Returning it, delay is a joke, by the time I walk up unlock door nest triggers when I'm in the house, nice picture of my back. Not a fan of anything google, they make junk.

    Bought this, loved it, but after 30 days need subscription to replay and save videos! No one at Best Buy told me this..$100 a year grrrrr
