    The installation process is easy and it looks really good on your wall once installed. Navigation and menus are straight forward and simple. My problem with this gen 4 model is it doesn’t sync with the nest app and only google home. If you have more than 1 nest thermostat like I do and it’s gen 3 and under prepare to ditch the nest app. Another is if you’re an Apple user like I am it, setting it up with Apple home is a pain and gives you a lot of errors. It’s possible to do it but it’s not easy. The different fixes for this can be found on Reddit. If all you need is Google home than this is the best product for you.

    This thermostat with the sensor is great. Most homes are built with th air handler on the opposite side of the house from the master bedroom. I purchased this one because of that with the sensor I was able to find out there was a five degree difference from the temperature in the living area and the master bedroom. This thermostat has giving me a balance in every room. Which means if the temperature is 70 degrees in the living area it is also 70 degrees in the master bedroom

    Overall it is a decent purchase. I'm a bit wary if the auto eco and learning capabilities though. We're troubleshooting my A/C to determine if it's the AC or the thermostat, but the auto eco wasn't even trying to run the AC with the house 6 degrees above desired temp. I had to disable it and turn the AC on.

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Nest Thermostat Gen 4, billydabutcha. While we’re happy you’re enjoying the device, we hear your concerns regarding Eco Temperature not turning on when it should be. Here’s some troubleshooting steps to get it working smoothly:

      1. Make sure automatic switching to Away is set to switch to Eco Temperature: Check that switching to Eco Temperature is enabled with the app or on the thermostat.
      2. Check that Routines aren't adjusting the thermostat: Occasionally, Google Home or Assistant Routines can prevent your thermostat from switching to Eco Temperature. If you suspect a Routine is adjusting the thermostat, check its recent activity and change the settings of a Routine:
      3. Reset Auto-Away learning: Normally, thermostat learning needs a reset only after habit changes or relocation. Once reset, the thermostat will relearn your preferences. Automatic Eco Temperatures will resume within a few days.

    This is a great update from the 3rd gen. The only thing I would say that is negative would be the scheduling system. You can’t set one temperature for all modes, there are separate temps for heat/cool which have to be two degrees apart. For example, if you want to cool to 68, heating has to be set at 70. It’s not difficult to change, but it’s not a set and forget thing. Haven’t had it long enough to see what that affects.
