Things got a little smoking when I was using my cast iron pan on the stove and they went off. Went into the app, but it wouldn’t let me silence from there. Had to physically silence it on the device. That was a let down. Otherwise, I do like them and good for peace of mind.

Posted .Hi there, DavidB. Thanks for sharing your experience with the Nest Protect (wired). If the level of smoke or carbon monoxide is low, Nest Protect will alert you using Heads-Up. Nest Protect knows what smoke is, but not what is burning (like toast). If the smoke level rises, Nest Protect will sound a loud, piercing alarm. You can disable Heads-Up for smoke and carbon monoxide from your Nest app or the Web. But for your own safety, Emergency Alarms cannot be disabled since they detect dangerous situations that require you to move quickly to safety.

In the end the Nest had to go back due to not working with my furnace. To be honest I am not sure if the device will work without the Nest so I returned this as well. Please verify this device and your nest will work in your home before you waste a bunch of time trouble shooting furnace issues.

Several issue occurred setting up with iOS devices till I give up and use an android device... had purchase 3 and found different issue on setup on any.
