Overall, I'm very happy with this item. The one complaint I have is that I can't get it to sync with my iPhone. I have a Nest thermostat and that syncs with my iPhone but I can't get the smoke detector to sync. It might be some easy fix but I've not managed to figure it out yet.

Glad I made the investment. Kind of quirky to install, but definitely a peace of mind once installed.

Love the look and the fact that I can check my app and see if they have tested for the day and that they use voice, paired with alarm to explain whats going on. Only fault is the Steam feature they have. Not very accurate and was forced to moved away from bathroom door due to false alarms.

having the nest protect devices in my house and my mother-in-law's helps us be confident that everyone is safe from fire and CO2 issues.

If you're tired of the annoying beeping on old smoke alarms pay the extra money and add these to the NEST system.

Just install it and worry no more. It will do all the monitoring for you and give you the piece of mind every smoke detector should!

After ten years it is time to replace my Nest protect. The Google Nest Protect 2nd generation Smart Smoke/Carbon Monoxide wired Alarm will not work with the wiring that was in place for the previous Nest Protect. So, if you have the old wiring and want the new Google product you will need to plan accordingly. I called Best Buy in advance about this exact question and was told it was the same wiring. I do not know how to do this kind of wiring at home so I am going to have to return the product. Therefore my review is simply to inform consumers of this issue. I cannot evaluate the rest of the product since I cannot use it.

The entire Nest series, I believe, is a must have for any serious home owner. It provides complete security at the touch of your smartphone.
