This is what I was looking for and my first pick of the type

Love it! Actually already bought a second one for upstairs.

This is one of the best products I have boughtin from best buy

Installed the third protect and to have a smoother setup used android phone instead of iPhone... Again necessary to unplug all the additional wifi AP to make it working on setup.

These smoke detectors are so good that I ended up buying two

Works great and easy to connect with other nest products.

Wanted to sleep better knowing we had one in the nursery.

The only thing I can say is this is a cool product

First to market is always scary when you commit to untested leading edge technology. Was there a problem with my current thermostat? Honest answer, no. And yet the idea of paying a ridiculous amount of $249 compared to what I currently have that already works fine, $0, seems completely crazy and unreasonable. And yet, Nest got me. So, after buying 2 thermostats for 2 of my a/c's and furnaces in my house, my opinion is still up in the air. Yes! I dropped $500 on Nest. What I know is that they are very eye pleasing and having access to it and getting notices through it is also a cool novelty from my smartphone. I'm still trying to answer if it's necessary, leaning on "not necessary." Practically speaking I find myself spending more time than necessary with the notifications, the app, thinking about the thermostat and learning about the different benefits and controls than the normal way of life before Nest. I wonder sometimes why I put myself in this position. Recently today, something concerning happened. My power company emails me and took over control of my Nest Thermostats citing it's "Power Hour". I'm afraid and concerned that the Power Company's credit of $100 for each thermostat comes with a hefty price, my privacy and my control. So, do your research and be weary. After rebates from the power company, my wallet cost is $300, but the total cost is still undetermined while I feel that my privacy is now in jeopardy, and knowing that the power company has certain control over my thermostat is unsettling. Be weary my friends.

Great product and peace of mind when away from the house.

The 2nd Gen Nest Protect is much better than the 1st Gen. The edges are rounded slightly and the connection process although still as smooth as the thermostat is much improved.

Love the fact it syncs with the other Nest products.

Its a good smoke alarm but there are things you need to understand..this alarm sensor expired in 10 years from the date of manufacture, no matter when you bought/install it. I found a unit that was manufactured in 2015, bought it late 2016. Immediately swap this out, most of them were 4 months on the shelf. Also sometimes the history on the device is not showing anything but nothing really compares to it on the market now...but other manufacturers are catching up. Nest support could be better.

I would recommend to anyone with elderly parents as well.

Now I have all the family of The Nest. Thanks to Best Buy.
