Have replaced ALL of old style smoke alarms with Nest and will never go back to the old style smoke alarms. Integrates seamlessly into Nest app with thermostats providing the ability to monitor the units at anytime...and there are no beeping alarms in the middle of the night for battery replacement.

I’m so happy with this smoke alarm. It works great. It even senses the after shower heat. Love how I can walk to the bathroom in the middle of the night and it lights up as I get close to it. It also looks really nice on the wall.

Really easy install and setup. The unit was up and ready within minutes after removing it from the box. I like the ability to silence the alarm from my phone if the detector senses smoke coming from something cooking in the kitchen. Also provides a little nightlight if movement is detected in the night.

No more annoying battery alerts at 3am! This has a 10yr battery so it will last a long time without having to be replaced. You can control it over your phone and get alerts. Serves as a nice nightlight as well in kids rooms and hallways.

It is wired, but as long as you can get the part done, it is great. I love how it lights up at night as I walk by it to give me a nightlight on my way to the restroom from the bedroom. It is user friendly.

So these installed very easily. Instructions were great and very clear. Set up was vice prompted and super simple. I am very happy that I can get a voice prompt instead of a blaring alarm. Also I can check on the status while I am away. The motion activated night light is one of my favorite features.

    Great Smoke Detector Upgrade

Installed these throughout my house after having an issue with "dumb" alarms going off because of low battery when we were out of town, scaring our pets. Neighbor helped make the alarms stop, but being able to control remotely and get alerts on my phone about batteries instead of beeping is great. They auto-test weekly when we are not home. And they are all connected wirelessly (but hard wired for power). In case of a fire, they will also alert you with the name of the room where the CO2 or CO is sensed.

If you own any Nest products.. especially the thermostat then these are a must have. Being able to talk and turn off your Furnace in the event of carbon or smoke is such a peace of mind. Pulling the trigger on these due to their cost is hard, but super worth the piece of mind.

The Best of the Worst is Still Bad

To be clear, I hate smoke alarms, even though I "appreciate" they might save my life. The problem is that they cannot be "managed" without climbing an 8 foot ladder to reach a twelve-foot ceiling and working with my arms over my head. I am 80 years old. I am not going to climb an 8 foot ladder. It's life-threatening. Consequently, when a battery chirps, I must move to a nearby hotel for several days, call an electrician, and pay $200 to have the battery replaced, not counting the cost of several nights in the hotel until the electrician can show up. Is that a great design for a consumer product? These Nest devices use a long life battery supposedly rated at 10 years but I am skeptical of that. The rating is the shelf-life, not the use-life. Anyway, it only kicks the can down the road.Eventually the batteries will chirp and I will need to go through the ordeal again. I mistakenly deleted an alarm from the network when I only meant to "hush" a false alarm. To re-add it, I must call an electrician. Why? because the only way to scan the convenient barcode located on the BACK side of the device, requiring its removal from the ceiling, which requires me to climb a ladder. Smart product design? I checked my Best buy receipt. Barcodes? Device numbers? Anything I could use to reconnect the device. NO! I must pay $200 and go to a hotel. I checked online with Google/Nest to see if I had a registered account where all the barcodes and/or product codes were listed. None such. I tried connecting with each device by Bluetooth while standing right under it. Not possible. The only solution? Pay $200 and wait a week for a scheduled electrician to show up. 99.99% of all smoke alarm alerts are "false" alarms due to temporary smoke, pollution, dust, CO, battery, or other transient condition. Every time, it costs $200 or risk permanent disability and death. These Nests are the least offensive of any, but I hate them in principle because of terrible user interface design.

I have the Nest camera and many other products house so I though that it would be beneficial that i get the Smoke & Carbon Monoxide detectors. The installation was very easy. It really is plug and play. All the detectors come with a 9v battery that is rated to last for years.

It's a hundred dollar smoke and CO2 detector, but I knew that when I purchased it. The unit works as intended, and I simply want it for the peace of mind through the Nest app, should the alarm go off. Plus, it'll tell you when the power goes out. Installation is simple, but I would recommend a professional install if you've never done anything with your home's circuitry. If this detector cost $75 instead of $100, I wouldn't hesitate to buy two more of them. It's a little pricey, and perhaps a little unnecessary.

It was very easy to install. I have it hard wired in. I love the night light that is has, I bought 2 of these. It's really loud, so I can't miss it. Love that is attached to an app, so I can control it, if I'm not home.

I can monitor the thermostat and smoke/CO2 detectors from anywhere via Nest app on my phone. These units last several years and automatically disable themselves once the pre-programmed age limit is reached.
