They all worked flawlessly until my router failed and I had to get another. After the new router installation, all of them connected back but one, which was showing no power. I checked and power was not out. Talked to tech support and they issued a return ticket. I purchased a new one, same issue. I switched the unit with "no power" to another one that was working fine. Now they both say "no power" and they clearly have power. So now with two units of five down I am considering throwing them all in the trash and finding another brand. I would look elsewhere.

Thanks for this feedback. That was definitely a frustrating experience and we’re sorry to hear that 2 out of your 5 Nest Protects is experiencing a power issue.
When replacing the battery of Nest Protect, we recommend using only Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA (L91) batteries as they delivered the best performance on our tests. Any other type of battery will cause Nest Protect to report a low battery and/or sound low battery chirps. If you're already using these batteries and still experiencing a battery drain, then we would like to take a look at your Nest Protect to understand what's causing the issue, so that we can help you in the best way possible.

The next step would be adding camera to the unit to give more utilities in one item. A pain when it sets off errorously when it gets dusty.
