Lacks wired interconnect
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was hoping to connect to existing smoke alarms. It won't. Returning it and just buying a traditional wired carbon monoxide smoke detector combination. Neat idea that I was looking forward to using. I am not spending $900 on smoke detectors that inter connect wirelessly. I can do wired for much less as wiring is already there.

Posted .We're sorry to hear you were unhappy with the Nest Protect's wireless interconnect and with it not being able to connect with other pre-existing smoke alarms. Nest Protects speak to each other wirelessly. Wireless interconnect has advantages over wired interconnect: With wireless interconnect you can add more alarms without adding expensive wiring and it allows Nest Protect to convey more safety information in an emergency. Buyer beware
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do not buy any of the Google products, terrible customer support and terrible products. I bought several nest protects, I changed the password on my Wifi Google router and the nest protects stopped connecting to the Wifi. Support said the only way to reconnect them would be to remove them from the App and reinstall them as if they were new which means if you have high ceilings like I do you have to get a ladder and reconnect the detectors just because a wifi password change. BTW the google Wifi router isn't great either so look elsewhere for that.

aggravation and poor customer service

After a long telephone wait time Nest product support said that the sensor was likely faulty and offered me a 20% discount coupon to buy a new one. I was angry that they didn't offer more but took the offer. I mistakenly bought the battery one. Now they say the coupon was valid for one product only and if I return it (unopened) then i have to buy a wired one at full price. I will be replacing all of my nest products with an alternate brand as they die.

Very disappointed, needs IPV6 or its nothing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Would have loved to be able to use it but it requires IPV6 internet in order to be anything more than the $25 one. without this specific and apparently special internet, it is not a smart device and will not connect to the nest app. I spent an hour with Google support and then 2 hours with my internet service provider support just to find out that it will not work. Very disappointed

Garbage

First Alert is the Way to Go

Wont set up with new internet router
