Installing this was a cinch. Especially for replacing old smoke detectors. Just be sure if your system is wired for 120v to get the correct one. Many customer service agents don't really know the difference or know that there are different nest protect detectors. I've replaced my whole house with nest protect and really enjoy the ease of running tests and monitoring power outages while away from home.

The product seems great. It is easy to install and well instructed. The integration with the nest app is great. I just wish that they teamed up with other notification services to monitor the smoke alarm.

Great device easy to use easy installation just a great piece of mind

Easy to install by cutting the hard wire smoke detector wiring in your house, use wire nuts on the unneeded wires and wire nut the black to the Google smike detector. Very easy setup, love the night light feature and it will self test daily at a time or your choosing. Only downside is it does not integrate with the Google home app, you have to use the Nest app and the Nest app alone. Other than that slight, yet irritating fault, I still think these are awesome!

I never thought that I would spend over $100 on a single smoke detector, but after getting our first nest protect to replace a malfunctioning detector we have added another and plan on at least one more. The ability to test the unit from anywhere and get updated results of test on my phone is great. They work with my thermostat as motion sensors. Even the nightlight is a nice touch.

Easy to install and work great. It's great to have a smoke/CO detector when you're home. This takes it a step further and will notify you via the app when smoke/CO or even a power outage is occurring. I've replaced all the old detectors in my house with them.

This is my second Nest device and first impressions were over the top. Super nice packaging, look, feel and impressions from the actual product was nothing like the competition. This thing packs some serious technology, the competition is cheaply made. I have never seen a smarter smoke and CO detector, super easy to install, and you know what is going on. This is a must have for every homeowner!

Absolutely, love my Nest Protect devices. Recently all of my smoke detectors reached their lifespan and it was time to replace them. I already have several other Nest products and wanted to add the Nest smoke alarms to my lineup. I’m not a handy guy around the house, but I had 8 alarms setup in no time. Setup is super easy and I’m very happy with my purchase.

Recently realized that smoke detectors should be replaced every 10 years or so in which I decided to go WiFi with dual smoke and carbon monoxide. While they are pricey, since they check both of those boxes, I thought I’d give them a try. You can occasionally find them on sale though not at a significant discount - but if you need several it can add up. You set them up and control via an app. This allows you to identify each one by associating a location, set lighting options which can be nice at night. They will perform self test at designated time which occurred one day when my son was at home by himself and scared him at first. Price is the only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars.

I have been gradually replacing the wired smoke detectors in our home with the nest protect co/smoke detectors and the price usually doesn’t change. They are usually $119.00 each and Best Buy had a special for 2 for $199.00. I bought 4 at this price! Thanks Best Buy! Super easy to install and setup!

I had to have an electrician install this but it’s great. It’s easy to set up and the mobile app communicates in real time. Perfect for people who are deaf or hard of hearing. The phone chimes but so does the unit when you’re in the house. It will state where the problem is beforehand. Awesome technology!

The install on the smoke and carbon monoxide detector was simple to wire in I also like to feature that's on the phone I can see which one's going off also they do a monthly test on each other to make sure they're working properly and they have path lights that you're able to adjust if you want them on or not so when you walk by they'll turn on and illuminates the walkway

MUCH nicer looking, easy to use and easy to understand-- all things you never find with dated CO detectors. All of this holds true for smoke alarm feature, too. Notifies you via smart phone if there's an alarm. Nice!! I truly rest better knowing my kids are protected by Nest. Had to swap this for the battery-powered version. Be careful-- there is very little difference in the packaging.

It's good peace of mind to have a smart monitor like this. It self tests, so I don't have to worry that it's not going to work when I need it. It will alert us to any problems when it does the self check, which I think is a great feature. I also like that it has a gentle illumination that will come on when walk nearby at night... makes a perfect night light.

This is a very nice smoke detector. I got the non-battery version. It was easy to plug into my home's electrical connection where the previous smoke detector was installed. I had some smoke go into it to test the smoke detector, it worked well but I expected to get an immediate alert on my cell phone. It took quite a while to get the alert on my phone and I only saw it after going into the nest app. I have my iphone set to allow notifications from the nest app so I don't know what the problem is. It defeats the purpose of getting an internet connected smoke detector. I need to try again some other day. I would still recommend this product since it is almost perfect.

After seven years, the builder installed interconnected smoke/carbon monoxide dectectors died because of their end of life expectancy. So we purchased three of these Nest Protect 2nd Generation Smart Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Wired Alarms. The install was super easy and the app is great for home and away. We then upgraded the remaining with three more - all six are now interconnected.

Bought two of them and was impressed with how easy they are to install and how efficient they work. Had a little smoke from cooking over the holidays and the alert was loud and clear advising that there may be smoke in the area. It gave a verbal warning and if it had been more smoke it would have alarmed. Great product which could ultimately save lives especially from carbon monoxide.
