Love this product! Keeping everything in the nest app makes it very easy to check all devices. I love the app will notify me if it detects a fire.

I have multiple Nest Theromstats and truly think it is a great product so I am adding the protects 2nd gen as well. They work with the thermostats for auto-away feature and shutoff in the event of smoke detection and use the same application to manage the devices. Simple setup everything needed was included in the box to mount and tie in the existing wiring.

Exactly what I expected from Google beautiful device that does exactly what it supposed to do. Love being able to check the status when I'm away and it alerts you immediately if it thinks anything is up.

This Nest detector comes with ample instructions and hardware to make this install quick and easy. Note: The hardwired versions do not have a common connection. This means if your home / apartment has all the detectors wired together so if one goes off, they all go off, the Nest will function independent of that network.

I love this product as I don't need to switch on and off the fire alarm manually any more...having very powerful CO delectation quality with immediate notification....

I love it. Highly recommended. Will buy more in the future.

Was a very easy installation. Love the night light.

The nightlight is great! I like that you can know what is going on even if you are away but they still seem a little high on price for what they do.

I would recommend this Smart Smoke/Carbon Monoxide to anyone. I currently own 2 with plans to purchase 2 more in the future. It also has a Path light(which lights up when a room is dark to see where you are walking), also has a nightly promise which will flash a green ring when the light goes out to let u know its is working.

Owning several homes it is nice to know that there is a reliable product that you can use to monitor and smoke and carbon issues just by a click of a button. It has worked exactly as expected. It is a little pricey, but would definitely recommend the Nest Smoke Detector.

This is a great product. I like the features and the fact that you can use the app to change the night light and keep up with activity history. I also have a harmony remote and when the alarm goes off, everything connected to my harmony remote including the tv, soundbar or even if music is playing, it will mute so the alarm can be heard.

I love the peace of mind we get with the Nest Smoke/CO alarms. The wired ones work seamlessly with the battery powered ones. We have some of both throughout our 3 floors of our home. No connection issues whatsoever. It snot enough to knock it down a star but I think changing the wired connector between the 1st Gen and 2nd Gen was crap....should have been plug & play without having to mess with wires again. Not an issue if you arent replacing 1st gens.

This is my last fire/carbon Monoxide Alarm, I will ever buy. Installation was easy and it only took about 15 min per unit. Only downside is it’s tricky if you change your WiFi password. My advice is to snap a photo of the pass key on the inside of the unit and save it Incase you change your WiFi password.

The product was easy to install. It was defective but NEST customer support was amazing and sent overnight a replacement with a prepaid return for the defective product. With the replacement I have had no issues. I love that it alerts me if the power goes out since I live and the mountains and worry about pipes freezing in the winter.

Easy to install, and the night light is a great feature

I have replaced all of the smoke alarms in my house (8). These units are pricey but very easy to install and I am more confident in the protection of my home and family.

The Nest Protect 2nd generation Smoke and CO2 is better than most smoke detectors. It is a good product and works as advertised with one exception which is why I didn’t give 5 stars. The Wifi is a bit buggy still with these detectors. I have 9 of them installed in my home and frequently 1, 2 or 3 of them will go offline on their 30 min checkin with the router. They often come back online on their own and it can be any one of the 9 at any time. Google Tech Support was not useful at all. I tried various solutions on my own such as assigning static IPs, or binding to a particularly close node or extender with no satisfaction. I eventually added a 3rd node to my ASUS router Mesh network and this seems to have solved the problem but had to discover this on my own. It appears the detectors are sensitive to how many other devices are active at the time of checkin and if they don’t get an immediate response go offline until the next checkin. The good news though is the detector going offline does not affect its functioning at all for smoke or CO2 detection or it’s communication with other detectors, only communication with the NEST app and there is a solution by balancing out the traffic with an additional node or extender if you have a lot of these. I recommend them but beware this annoying issue.

Was looking to replace our ancient detectors and upgrade to carbon monoxide sensor when I found these. They mounted to the same box the old hardwired sensors were installed in. Installation and setup was easy. The app is easy to use and alerts you when away from home. They also look very attractive.

Easy to install and sleek. I have this only for few weeks now that I can not talk about things such as battery and other performances, but so far it looks great.

Installation and setup was painless. Have had it running more than a month so far without any issues. The Nest app says "everything is OK." This seemed like a logical replacement for my existing smoke alarms, which were at end-of-life. Not sure why this product isn't integrated with Google Home yet, though. This seems to limit notifications and access to only one user. I understand this is going to be addressed eventually, but the product seems unfinished without it.
