Great smoke alarm. Easy to install and it has a nice look to it. The only thing I dislike a bit is that it is super sensitive. The alarm goes off on anything!

I just upgraded the smoke detectors in the house to the Nest Protect 2 and I love these things. You can silence them manually or via the app and at night the ring lights up with a white light that isn't really bright but is definitely enough to see where you are going. I highly recommend these devices.

They are a pretty good value when on sale for $99. My only concern is that the expiration on the back is sometimes substantially distant from your purchase date. Meaning that if you purchase it today, you may technically only get 9 or a little less years out of it.

Installation and setup was painless. Have had it running more than a month so far without any issues. The Nest app says "everything is OK." This seemed like a logical replacement for my existing smoke alarms, which were at end-of-life. Not sure why this product isn't integrated with Google Home yet, though. This seems to limit notifications and access to only one user. I understand this is going to be addressed eventually, but the product seems unfinished without it.

The detectors are definitely on the expensive side of things, but worth it if anything were to ever happen. Like most people, our wife and I aren't home most of the day, so it's nice to have the peace of mind that we would be notified if anything were to happen. Also, the look of the detectors is so much nicer than standard ones.

These were easy to get set up and connected to my network and I haven't had any issues. I have received several smoke alerts due to my wife's cooking via text within a minute of it occurring. My wife was surprised when I called her. She had heard the smoke warning from the unit but was surprised that it had notified me so quickly.

The highly-rated Google Nest Smoke/CO Alarm Is easy to install and looks great on the ceiling. Quality constructed and feature-rich. The associated Nest app is intelligently designed and simply to use. Oh, there are cheaper alarms, but as headlined, none better.

Replaced our cheap smoke detectors for this and I wish I did it earlier. Old detectors went off frequently when cooking and couldn't avoid the annoying alarm. However these give a gentle warning that can be silenced via an app. Also, less false alarms.

The Nest Protect was easy to install and setup. It is the most full-featured smoke alarm I was able to find on the market. I like that I am able to see its status through the app and also initiate tests. I also like that I am able to turn off the siren through the app rather than having to physically press a button on the alarm. The only thing I wish they would add is the ability to use the wired interconnect that is already installed in my house (the reference to "wired 120V" in the product description only applies to power). It would be nice to have some redundancy there, since the Protects already use a wireless mesh interconnect.

I am in a wheelchair and live by myself. If the old smoke alarm went off (always by my cooking) i could did not know which alarm was set off (they are all wired so if one goes off they all go off). I would have to find a broom or something to be able to push the button to reset it. With the Nest Protect it will alert before going off and when it does it will tell you where the smoke is detected so you know which alarm was set off. All of this is also shown on your phone (Nest App) where you have the ability to quiet the alarm from your phone. The Nest protect is never supposed to chirp in the middle of the night from low batteries either. My house is all electric so I really have no need for the Carbon Monoxide portion of the alarm . Getting the protects ( I have 3) linked where they talk to each other was a little tricky.

The Nest Protect 2nd generation Smoke and CO2 is better than most smoke detectors. It is a good product and works as advertised with one exception which is why I didn’t give 5 stars. The Wifi is a bit buggy still with these detectors. I have 9 of them installed in my home and frequently 1, 2 or 3 of them will go offline on their 30 min checkin with the router. They often come back online on their own and it can be any one of the 9 at any time. Google Tech Support was not useful at all. I tried various solutions on my own such as assigning static IPs, or binding to a particularly close node or extender with no satisfaction. I eventually added a 3rd node to my ASUS router Mesh network and this seems to have solved the problem but had to discover this on my own. It appears the detectors are sensitive to how many other devices are active at the time of checkin and if they don’t get an immediate response go offline until the next checkin. The good news though is the detector going offline does not affect its functioning at all for smoke or CO2 detection or it’s communication with other detectors, only communication with the NEST app and there is a solution by balancing out the traffic with an additional node or extender if you have a lot of these. I recommend them but beware this annoying issue.

I love this smart alarm. it is hooked up to my smart phone and while cooking if the smoke detector goes off it is easy to shut it off. I also like how i get notifications on m phone when i am not home if anything is wrong. i am a fan of it and have it connected to my nest thermostat. they go great together.

I replaced all the wired smoke detectors during a remodel of our house. Nest was very easy to install. I am not known for my handy man capabilities so if I could do it, most can. They are extremely loud and I feel much safer in our house having these. Nice to have the carbon monoxide detector too.

I’m really impressed with the Nest Protects. Set up was very easy. I feel more confident that these Nest Protects will do what they’re supposed to do to keep me and my family safe especially when it comes to detecting carbon monoxide. Currently have four, need two more. Highly recommended.

Loving our new smoke/carbon monoxide detectors. Purchased 3 in total as replacements for 20 year old versions of separate smoke/CO detectors. A breeze to install as well as setup using the app. Loving the night light feature which turns on when movement in the area is sensed. Would highly recommend!

Love these smoke alarms. Easy to install, easy set up. Love that they talk to you. My kids are more aware of what the voice says, and what the different lights and sounds mean. Every other positive review is true. Would definitely recommend. Can't wait to expand the nest family of products in conjunction with our smoke alarms.

Easy to install. Presumably the backup battery will last as long as the device (10 years) - will be nice (hopefully) not to have to chase random beeps in the middle of the night!
