The piece of mind that these give us is priceless. I don't trust Google/Nest as a company with privacy, but they are the best in class in this particular area. These do not have cameras and they are said to not have microphones, so I did make an exception. Setup seems to require some goofy steps that you would think are not needed, at one point I thought I was going to be asked to hop on one foot while patting my head, but once they are setup they never ever have an issue and we've had some of these for probably five-plus years.

These are a little pricey but my old ones were over 10 years old and failing. Wanted smart detectors this time. Very happy with the purchase! Very easy to install and setup!

The price kept me away for a long time, but I wish I had pulled the trigger on this purchase sooner. The little enhancements like path light and remote control really make this a great addition to my home.

Nice looking smoke/carbon detector. Very easy to install. Slimmer profile then the first generation model.

We have 3 in our home now. The night light works very well in the staircase (2 x wired - 1 at top and one at bottom) and no other lights are needed to navigate the steps at night - check the settings to turn to full brightness.

I just replaced 7 old smoke detectors with these Nest Protects Series 2 (wired). Very easy to setup and install. I've been using them for over 2 weeks without any problems. I love the Pathlight feature!

Works as expected. I have 7 of these in the house and luckily haven't needed to make use of them! I do like the night light when walking through the house when it's dark.

Product is well built and easy to install. Performed an in house test and it works well. Light is just enough so that I do not have to turn on the hall light. Great product.

Super easy to install yourself. Like that you can control from your phone and it speaks to you calmly before blaring a siren that would wake the entire block.

Our old smoke detectors were coming to the end of their life. So we decided to get them all replaced. These things are phenomenal. Simple, easy to install and great looking. Highly recommend them.

When I first bought 5 of these for our new home, I wondered if I was spending too much money. Yesterday, the exhaust to our gas furnace froze over while we were sleeping and carbon monoxide was filling our house. My Nest Protect system woke me up and alerted me to the problem. There was no odor in the house, I wouldn't have had any idea anything was up had it not been for my Nest Protect. The fire department showed up and verified we had a high carbon monoxide level in our house. Nest Protect saved my family and my dogs.

I picked up a couple of these to pair with my Nest Thermostats. Main reason for getting these was so that it would turn off the HVAC system if it senses smoke or carbon monoxide. Beyond that, I can't say it has been earth shattering, or that I'm eager to change out the other 7 smoke detectors in the house. I guess I was expecting something much more next generational, being a Nest product. The night light is a cool feature.

I swapped all my old ones for these. It’s nice just logging in and stopping the alert when you cook.

I purchased three of these to replace eigth old (late 1990's) hard wired smoke and battery operated carbon monoxide detectors (the wife is happy seeing less clutter in the ceilings). Nest was able to integrate the carbon monoxide, small and large particle smoke detectors into the same unit. Additionally, each unit contain a motion sensor that activates a light ring enabling you or the kids to see in dark halls (the kids think they are in a space ship). I like the voice commands and that they run a self diagnostic on themselves each day. The "wired" ones are good for 10 years which average out to be approxitmately $15 per year........not bad for this type of technology and that I can monitor or have alertes sent to my smart devices.

We have two of these and purchased another for the lower level. Very pleased with the ease of installation and notification process on the app.

Great Smoke Alarm. I am replacing all the old traditional smoke alarms of my new house with this ones. Easy installation and no more batteries to replace.

Easy setup and ties in together with all nest products. The alarm automatically turns on the camera so you can plan accordingly. Also if you have more in different locations it tells you exactly where.

Previous owner had installed separate smoke and CO detectors across the house as well leaving non functional detectors from the 80's left installed. After replacing them all with the Next Protect in the appropriate locations around the house I managed to simplify the setup drastically. So far, enjoying the Nest Protect setup. Take note that there are two types (wired/battery) and you will need to ensure that you purchase the correct one for each particular location. You do not, however, need the third "yellow" (communication with other Nest Protect units) as this is done wirelessly via your home Wi-Fi.

Great product! Had a voice issue with the first one, but the exchange was simple and we are back on our way! Beware of placement though. Our hookup is near the bathroom. The product was sensitive to shower steam at first.

We needed to update our smoke alarms and carbon monoxide became defective. We have other Nest products and decided to try these. Couldn’t be happier and are super easy to install, even the wired version.
