Wanted to get a smart smoke alarm to get updates through my phone. We travel, so having piece of mind wasthe goal. My favorite feature is the illumination at night. It will light up the hallway just enough for you to see. This is done through the motion detection so the light isnt always on.

It checks its own functions out automatically and sends reports to your smart devices through its app. A great feature is a built in motion detector that activates a light that enables you to navigate around the room at night. Buy it if you need a smoke detector in your home.

I have had no issues with my Nest Protect. They were easy to install and have had no false alarms.

This unit becomes annoying and I had to remove it because it never shut up. So does it work. For sure it works, does it work good. Yes. Do you need to consider where you put it? Yes

Bought it as a gift for my mom so she could turn the fire alarm off from her phone when cooking in the kitchen. Works perfectly. It even warns you when the alarm is about to go off so you have time to turn off the stove to prevent the alarm altogether. No more annoying beeping for false alarms. Plus I doubles as a motion sensor night light.

This is the second Nest Smoke Detector for my home. I feel much more confident knowing that I have a combined carbon monoxide and smoke detector working in my home. I also appreciate that these detectors talk to my thermostats and will shut off the heating and cooling in the event they are alarmed. The monthly checkup is great because I don't test my smoke detectors like I should. The pathway lighting is also a nice feature.

I replaced the battery operated smoke detectors in my house with Nest. It literally took me 10 minutes to complete the change. Set up was a breeze using the app. The app can be a bit buggy at times though. Hence the 4 stars.
