The setup is still a pain. Have to have another device near buy, has to be near the router. Who keeps their router and smoke detector within 10 feet of each other?

The first unit was placed on my first floor and with this unit going on the second level. I have had no issues with either units and would def recommend.

Love the "Nightly promise" but it may be a bit sensitive. When it was really hot, it started beeping uncontrollably. Contacted Nest and they replaced my product.

They have a light that turns on when motion is detected. Great feature to have the dim light, should there be a real emergency.

We had low voltage from the old security system and had to have an electrician run wires for us. But the peace of mind is worth it

These detect smoke and Carbon Monoxide and meet every requirement for today's code inspections. I like how they illuminate my pathway at night based on a motion sensor.

My only downside is that it doesnt connect to existing detectors in your home via a sync wire, ONLY via google integration. So repalce them all or they are NOT synced.

Posted .Hello oppositesleeper, thanks for sharing your feedback with us about the Nest Protect (wired) and we appreciate that it works as expected. We hear your concern that it doesn’t sync to your existing detectors. Each company’s smoke and CO alarms use proprietary detection algorithms and interfaces, therefore there’s no industry standard. If alarms from different companies are connected together, they may not warn you properly in an emergency. The NFPA actually prohibits the connection of alarms from different manufacturers without special testing.

Best decision ever to buy this detector when shopping for new ones after I bought my new house. I love it!
