Although I live in a safe neighborhood, I would worry about house when I would go out of town for few days. Nest App sends notification for any activity. In addition to that, I just check Nest app to see the status to ensure house is safe. It's just such a peace of mind to just check house status at any time and from anywhere as long as I have internet either through wifi or cellular data. I like the history feature to go through the events, it's sort of confirmation that system was switched to Away and Guarding and no activity has happened since then. Quiet open is a good feature. App interface is simple, easy to use, informative and neat looking. I already have Nest Thermostat, Pixel phone and Google Home/Mini. Set up was very easy and quick. Within 20 mins it was all done and working. I don't have monitoring subscription or camera yet. I will probably get one indoor camera sometime later when it's on sale to add another layer of security. Not so sure about monitoring subscription though. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase. I just wish Nest products to be a bit more price competitive. I think many people pass on Nest products because of price. Most of my friends and co-workers opted other brands for smart security, locks and camera because of high price of Nest products.

Easy Install, no monthly fees (goodbye Comcast)

My cable bill keeps going up, so I figured I could save the monthly alarm fee. We weren’t really using the alarm because it wasn’t user-friendly and was fussy. My wife insisted that we find a replacement because property crimes have increased dramatically this year. The Nest system was very easy to install. The door sensors are also motion sensors, so it gives us more functionality than the old one. Furthermore, the key dongle makes it easy to disarm upon entering the house. No codes, just place the dongle on top of the controller face. Since Nest pushes an alert to your phone for free, no more monthly fee! One caveat, though. We had one Nest service outage in the past month. When that happens, you can’t use the system as intended.

Listen, we've all had security systems from the big companies we're tired of the insanely expensive fees for essentially nothing... am I right or am I right? ENTER NEST SECURITY. Wow. What a quality product. Lets start with the unboxing. Everything is beautifully packaged and secured. All of your beautiful new products are wrapped and put away neatly. Everything came out with ease and it was packaged with care and quality in mind. Moving on to the install: ABSOLUTE BREEZE. I plugged the cord into the Nest keypad and it fit snug and securely it was a very firm fit. Inside the box there's also a plastic piece to place over the plug that screws directly into the wall socket using the existing screw! Talk about foresight. No one can rip it out of the wall now. I followed the prompts through the app it was very simple and guided all of the way through. As I connected more and more sensors I scanned the little code with my camera and nest walked me through prompts: where to place, how to place, testing to confirm it's working, ect... everything was a guided process that makes it incredibly easy. In fact I'm almost positive my grandparents could figure this out. It was that simple, well thought out and guided. There's a bunch of features on the sensors like a button you can push if you want to open a window or a door while the alarm is on and you're home so you don't set it off. Another great feature is a night pathlight, when the sensor detects motion it will light up and guide your path! WOW. Not only is this an AMAZING product but they put the forethought into adding little details that make it truly outstanding. I was reading another review where they complained about a 30 second timer until the alarm went off... but lets be honest here.. if the criminal is entering through your window they need to jimmy your window open(the alarm will start counting down the moment the magnate is no longer by the sensor), crawl in your window and get upright... there's 20-30 seconds right there. By that time your alarm is BLARRING and IT'S LOUD. I tested it while my wife was sleeping (babe I'm so sorry). Thinking on my feet, I quickly unplugged it from the base, and it was hard to do in a panic due to the firm fit of the plug, oh but was my beautiful nest security system done there? Nope because once again Google thought ahead, they must have installed a rechargeable battery inside the keypad, because as I ran downstairs to the room farthest away from my sleeping wife it continued to scream it's ear piercing song of its people. I finally got it turned off and went upstairs to profusely apologize to my wife. 10/10 would recommend. This is a product that will keep you and your loved ones SAFE ONE MINOR CON: Google Nest no longer supports IFTTT if you move your account over to the new google account system...thing... whatever it is. Say someone brakes in and you have Hue lights... well you can't have your smart home turn on the lights or flash them like a strobe. I reached out to google customer support and they appreciated my feedback and told me to stay tuned for more connectivity... so maybe they're working on that. Its not a big deal, just something I would have liked to see included. It is a smarthome after all.

We wanted a security system but didn’t want to pay for monitoring services. We already had the Nest thermostat and Protects, so adding the Secure was an easy choice for us. It was so easy to set up and add to our account we had it up and running in just half an hour. I love that you can choose different time delays before it alarms so it isn’t beeping at you while you’re trying to round kids up to leave the house, or, if you’re like me, forget to turn it off when you let the dogs out in the morning and can remember before it goes off and wakes everyone up. The alerts are instantaneous when it does go off, which is much better than any monitoring service I’ve ever experienced. My only complaint is that I wish that there was an option to have the alarm sound from another Nest/Google device. I’d like to have another alarm point on the other side of the house, but so far that isn’t possible with the other devices available.

This is an expensive device. It's easy to set up and free to use if you dont get the additional monitoring they provide. Works well with the Yale-Nest lock for deactivating the alarm. I whish the chime volume could be adjusted but it's not terrible. The alarm is very loud. The walkway lights on the detectors is pretty useless as they're not very bright. quality materials and aesthetically pleasing. I'm happy with this product but dissappointed with Google merging with nest.

So far I love the system. Easy to set up and easy to add the pieces to your Nest app. Design is nice, footprint of the base is small and I don't even notice the pieces on the door. Goes off line occasionally but that COULD be my wireless and not the alarm system. Only negative so far...the voice coming from the base station has no volume control and he voice is not too loud. Not a deal breaker, just odd that you can't turn up the volume. Very nice that with the Google Mini you can voice control at night to turn the system on. Happy so far. NOTE: I bought this before I found out that Google had bought Nest and you have to switch everything to your Google account by Aug, so not sure what will happen then. I love the use interface of the Nest app and not the Google app so hoping it doesn't change much.

Was searching for an alarm system that did not require a paid subscription AND would send notifications to my phone. This works great, especially if you have other nest products like a thermostat. I was between this and the SimpliSafe, but due to SimpliSafe requiring a paid subscription to get smart phone notifications, I went with Nest. The battery back up if power were to go out is great. I also love how when you leave the home, it recognizes you left and sends a notification to your phone reminding you to set the alarm (if you forgot). Great product. Excellent customer service as well. I had an issue with one of the fobs not working, and nest sent me a brand new one a day later.

I recently bought this system a few months ago. So far I had issues installing the google assistant to the base. It’s very easy to use and set up. Saving me $63 per month and that’s the main reason I bought this system Along with two extra sensors. Overall the system is good. It’s expensive but I bought it on sale. I use the nest ecosystem and that’s why I decided to buy this system. I give it 4 stars because it’s too expensive and it could have so much more potential.

This was #1 on my wishlist when I purchased my new house. I compared it to Ring and Simplisafe and this eventually won out. I like the form factor and the ease of use with the keyfobs. It's a Nest product so it assimilates with everything Google/Nest and is very easy to use through the app. One of its best features is reminding you to set the alarm when it detects that none of its users are home and then pinging you with a prompt to disarm when you arrive back home.

This device connects to the home Google nest if you have one but it isn't needed. Installation was super easy. I have not had to add any extra door/ window sensors but as easy as the installation was I'm sure it won't be a problem. The system can be monitored if you choose. The system notifies you if the alarm is activated. I tested this out and couldn't believe how loud the system was. The sensors also act as motion detectors and they even have the option to light up so you don't have to walk through a dark house. Really cool feature. I recommend this product to anyone that wants a good system and who wants something easy to install.

Alarm Systems should be easy to use and a part of your life and not trip you up when you want to leave or come home. After researching All of the competing products - I landed with nest, here’s why: - The security system notifies you if you forgot to turn the alarm on and you have left the house - giving you an easy way to arm through the app - arming capability through the app - capability to setup guest codes for a finite time period - works with their Yale lock really well - allowing for unlock of a door and disarm of the alarm system in one easy step (which is configurable - you can choose not to do this which I love too!)

Easy set up, great app. Only thing is that it doesn't necessarily feel as secure as an ADT system for example. That said, you can set what notifications you want to get and also pay extra for additional security features. Overall, cool product that connects nicely with other Google Nest products.

Google Nest has a great device that is easy to setup right out of the box and is great to use. The combination sensors are able to detect opening and closing of doors and windows as well as detect motion which limits the number of those sensors that I need to protect my house. The two tags are great so you don't have to type in your password every time. It is particularly handy when carrying other items in your hands to just set the tag on the base to turn off the alarm.

Very easy to set up, all the products connected easily. The only thing I would change is for the alarm to be louder. It is still noticeable upstairs (the system is downstairs), but I don't know if it would immediately wake me up. It would be nice if the alarm also sounded on the Nest Hub.

While the price is high, it just works. We had another build your own system, and the cameras would always disconnect from the app. These work perfect with 0 issues. We already had the thermostat and smoke detectors, and this fits in to the app flawlessly. Easy to lock / unlock, and it reminds/asks you when you come home or leave. Super easy, would recommend.

I have nearly all of Nest's products in the house, when setting up new products they like to lean on existing products to help with wifi settings. I could not get the Nest Guard to connect to my account, it was attempting to lean on my Nest Protects for this and I eventually removed them from my account to see if that helped. Then the Guard tried leaning on the Nest Hello and that was unsuccessful as well. I got with support and they told me to uninstall the Nest Hello (even though I would lose the familiar faces its saved) and the Nest Guard finally attached to my account after that. I also have the issue everyone talks about with the sensors not detecting motion and the pathlight feature not working at all. If I could suggest an improvement that would be having an option for open door notifications while home but guarding coming from the guard that would speak the sensor location.

Really love this product; very affordable and absolutely delivers on what it promises. Incredibly easy (and intuitive) to use and install; the installation process is very clear and outlined via step-by-step instructions in the app. SO EASY. Once up and running, it works so well and gets the job done. I LOVE that we can say, "Okay Google, goodnight!" before we go to bed and it will turn on the alarm. So cool!

We have a 100+ year old house and hard-wiring a security system with plaster lathe walls just isn't feasible for us. Setting this up was a breeze and we LOVE how functional this is. As in, we actually use it. The keypad (Guard) is unobtrusive. It is so easy to plop your fob on top to set or deactivate the alarm. This is timestamped and personalized, and controllable from the app itself (forgot to set an alarm but you're already at the airport? no problem! Forgot that your mom is coming over and can never remember the code? No problem!). The door sensors are also super snazzy. They serve as nightlights that illuminate when they sense motion in the dark. We have large dogs so we don't use the motion detection feature for our alarm system. What is handy is that if you're home and the alarm is set, but your dog is desperate to pee one more time, just press the button on the sensor and it'll allow you to open the door without triggering anything and will reset once the door's closed again. This feature is disabled if you've told the system you're not home. I love that this came with two door/motion sensors included, and that everything feels very functional. There's also an option for it to listen for glass breaking, though we haven't yet tested it. We do not use the professional monitoring, but did opt for the 5-day Nest Aware subscription. This thing offers serious peace of mind when I'm home alone. The alarm countdown is customizable so I can have it go off immediately when a door opens or I can have it wait. This would also be handy if you have escape artist kiddos and you need an extra heads up when someone is coming/going. 10/10 would buy again.
