HVAC company came out after I tried to set it upyself and they confirmed with me that it is not compatible. Recommend asking a HVAC pro before purchasing it but this was a solid thermostat

Really convenient thermostat

Set it to lower temp gradually to go easy on HVAC system. So nice - refreshes the house while I’m sleeping. I can check temp while I’m gone to make sure dog is ok inside house. Well worth the money. Looks attractive too. Got the base plate to cover up where old thermostat was so didn’t need to patch and paint. Looks great.

While they work pretty well, their performance is inconsistent when it comes to "pre-warming", in other words, raising the temperature in the main living area to a certain temp BY a certain time or starting to raise it to that temp AT a certain time. In other words, sometimes it will start pre-warming before our appointed 5:45 am time so that it is at the prescribed temp when 5:45 rolls around, and sometimes it starts the warmup AT 5:45, so that it is not up to temp til 6:00 or a bit later. Sort of annoying, and Google sent out replacements that did the same thing.

Posted .Hey there, DavidL. We’re sorry to hear your experience with the Early-On feature on the Nest Thermostat hasn’t been the best. Here’s some things to try to get it working just right:
1. Give it a few days to learn: Your thermostat takes a few days to learn how your home heats and cools. It won't preheat or pre-cool during this time to save energy.
2. Disable learning: When you turn off Auto-Schedule, your existing schedule will remain but your thermostat will stop learning from your future adjustments.
3. Restarting your thermostat: Restart your Nest Thermostat after disabling and then re-enabling the Early-On feature using either the thermostat or the app.

Posted .Hi there, RobertJ. To help clarify, you can create a custom schedule for temperatures — here’s how:
1. Open the Google Home app.
2. Select your thermostat.
3. Tap Schedules.
4. Choose the day of the week you want to add a new temperature to.
5. Tap Add or Add event.
6. Select the desired temperature preset.
7. Select the time by dragging the numbers up and down.
8. Optionally, select other days of the week for this temperature to apply.
9. Choose the sensor(s) you want the thermostat to use.
10. Tap Done or Save to save your changes.

I can schedule it, control it from my phone, and is compatible with google home/mini. Bonus points for it looking awesome, having smooth controls and being very very user friendly. Side note: both my parents have the google learning thermostat. As far as I can tell, the actual learning is the only feature this device doesn’t have. I am glad I went with this model and saved the money.

Easy to use and easy to install, maybe took 20 minutes.

Posted .Nest Thermostat is able to be set to Heat, Cool, Heat /Cool, or Eco mode — here’s how:
1. Tap the touch bar to access the Menu.
2. Slide your finger to Temperature mode, then tap to select.
3. Slide your finger to the mode you want, then tap to set it.

Super easy step by step guide helped me install it by myself and it connects seamlessly to all of my Google home products. I love I can have set temperatures for different times of the day, and it has definitely helped to save money on my electric bill.

This is not a touchscreen, and it can be tricky to get the hang of navigating the seamless scroll bar on the side to toggle to different zones. Looks really nice in the room.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought two of these when they came out on Nov 1, 2020 to upgrade from old honeywell programmable sensors. I have two (2) 24V wire connections: 1 red and 1 white for running my oil furnace. When I first installed them, I didn't see a problem with them, but soon discovered that they were leeching the battery to run. Fortunately, I could still return them and get money back on my card due to the extra time on the holiday return window. However, it took over a month to see this problem and by that point you wouldn't be able to return them under the 15 day policy. I ended up splurging and getting the 3rd Generation Nest Learning Thermostat. It's only been running for a couple of days now, but I have them installed upstairs and downstairs and I'm not seeing any battery leech. If you have 3 wires, you'll probably be fine as you can use one as the C-wire to power your unit. But if you're like me with only 2 wires then my recommendation is to stay away from this model.

But I got one for my mom and she loves it. I love how it's so small and blends into the wall and looks like a cool space age piece. I love that now my mom is able to control the temperature of her house on her phone and I feel that Google Nest is so user friendly to set up and she's able to figure it out on her own.
