This is the first Google pixel I have gotten. I'm own Samsung phones for the longest. I'm so grateful for my purchase on my pixel 8. It has so many features. The camera quality is great. The color on the pictures is very colorful. I'm still to figure out all the features. Things just start coming up on new features.

It is the best android phone i ever used. Its camera is better than iphone 13 pro max's camera. Its picture quality is best. Their customer service is great! They explain me everything in details. Anyone in the US should buy from Best Buy.

I love this camera so much. Just so much. I don't know what happened to being able to take a photo while recording a video though, that got lost in an upgrade unfortunately.

Very happy with this phone. I really wanted to go for the Pro version however decided to be responsible monetarily instead. This phone was a huge upgrade for me and i have been thoroughly enjoying how responsive it is and how clean it looks. Included a selfie i took with the phone.

To me, the non-Pro version is the best considering price. The cameras are great, the screen and speakers are upgraded in a very good way, battery life is average.
Things I dislike are the slipperiness of the phone and the half-baked AI features.
7 years of software support is a nice bonus.

I've been in using pixel phones for the last 4-5 years and it just keeps getting better. No technology comes without any issues, but Google keeps them to a minimum with this product. So far this phone has been very reliable and overall a seamless experience.
As always, camera is phenomenal

Love this phone! My first Google Pixel, and I am really glad I made the switch. My adult grandson, who is a freaking genius (according to his PhD, not according to me) has been using a Google Pixel for several years and recommended it to me. I figure he can't be wrong! I have had it for 5 months and I am totally happy with it!

My first pixel. I didn't like the back bezel initially but with a case it's not so bad. Great brightness auto-adjustment. Integration between google services is also seamless. I hope it will survive for 7 years. Warm - I don't play games or do anything intensive but the back of the phone is still hot sometimes. It's better with a case.

Best AI phone in the market - plethora of features

Unboxing - Once you unbox the phone, you will find the Pixel 8 phone, USB C power cord, USB A to C converter, Sim ejection tool and User guide/Pamphlet.
Setup - Upon turning on the phone, we will be prompted to transfer the content from other phone by a cable or wifi. It took close to 30 min to transfer all of the content from my old phone to this new phone. Once that was completed, we will be prompted to update the phone to the latest Android version and once the phone reboots we will be able to update all the apps from the play store. The entire process including the setup, installation of new Android (Android 14) and updating to the latest apps took little over an hour which was mainly because of the number of data i had on my phone. Otherwise it would have taken between 45 min to an hour.
Pros:
1. Phone and Display - Pixel 8 has a 6.2" screen (little smaller than the Pixel 7 which had a 6.7" screen) with Bezels that are thin across the phone. Google has maintained the same camera bar on the back of the phone which i would say has become the trademark of Google phones. They are simple, unique yet stylish. I like the camera bar on the pixel as i feel it looks more classy and stylish without having multiple lenses on the back of the phone. The raised camera bar no way actually hinders when the phone is placed on the table as one would think. This shows how well the designers have thought about the design of this phone among plethora of features this small phone brings it to the table. Also the glossy exterior of the phone does not have the finger print smudges which is really good.
2. Display - Pixel 8 comes with a 1080 x 2400 OLED display. Unlike the previous versions this phone has a upgraded 120 Hz Actua display that gets up to 2000 nits of brightness which is super bright especially when we are outdoors. There is one thing that we have to keep in mind is that the display is not LTPO and so it is required to turn off the Always on display to save some battery especially when we are traveling.
3. Processor - Both Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro comes with the same Tensor G3 processor which is one of the fastest processor till date. This makes the phone smooth in terms of navigation and also supports lots of the AI features that Pixel supports making the AI processing really smooth and fast.
4. Camera - 50 MP primary sensors makes the images sharp with shallow depth of field. Autofocus is fast. Also the Ultrawide 12 MP camera with Auto focus is really nice and also helps with the Macro shots (as close as 3 cm)
5. RAM - 8 GB of memory makes this phone handle heavy tasks like Gaming or navigating between apps really smooth and navigation really fast without any lag.
6. Battery - 4575 mAh of battery is really great. With mediocre usage, the phone lasts for upto 2 days easily. Also with the faster wired charging the battery gets charged really quick when compared to the previous Pixel models.
7. Wireless charging - Wireless charging on this phone is really helpful either at work or during travel with a wireless charger.
8. Google AI Features -
There are plethora of features that this phone brings up to the table. Below are some of them to name a few:
Photos:
1. Portrait light - Adjust the brightness
2. Portrait blur - To blur the background
3. Unblur - This is again not perfect at all times but some of the shaky pictures even from the past can be unblurred to make the picture look a little better. But not all the pictures that has a blur gets unblurred. Google can probably improvise on this.
4. Magic eraser - Erase the background objects or people. This is not perfect in all occasions but Google AI does a brilliant job in erasing as well as matching with the background.
5. Color focus - To make the background Black and White while maintaining the color of the People in the photo
6. Best shot - This comes in handy and appears automatically if the eyes are closed for one or more people in the group or if they turned the face. Google AI helps in identifying similar shots to improve the photo by giving a list of face expressions to choose from. This is really a nice feature which I really love.
7. Magic editor - The small rainbow icon on the left to suggestion which many may not even notice is the Magic editor button which can be used to do the magic eraser stuff, brightness editor stuff, changing the sky color and much more is fun. A point to note is that this is still experimental version and we can report issues or send feedback to Google to fix it in the future.
Video:
1. Real tone processing
2. Audio eraser (for videos between 1 second to 2 min) - This is really a nice feature especially when we are outdoors. Google AI provides the Auto option and decreases any noise in the background like wind or nature or even it allows us to manually adjust/remove the Wind or Nature sounds. I have tried it for some of the videos that I have taken in the past and the output was really amazing. I was able to remove almost 80% of the wind sounds by using this feature. If the video is over 2 min we have the flexibility of choosing the section of the video that we want to edit and then apply the audio eraser.
Google Chrome - Summarize page - Looks like this is a feature that is supported only for Google chrome. We can ask the Google assistant for the summary of the page after opening an article in Chrome. Google will then read through the article and will quickly summarize the page in few bullet points. This is really a nice and cool feature on how Google has made use of every bit of AI that they can use to make things look lot easier. This is currently available only in English.
Google Chrome - Read this - We can ask the Google assistant to read the page after opening an article in Chrome. Google will then read entire article. I have tried using apps from Play store in the past that are really not helpful. This feature might come in handy when we are busy with something or when driving. Google will read the entire article back to us. This is really a cool feature.
Call screening - This is one of the features i love. I used to get lots of spam calls in the past. But after I changed to Pixel, Google AI takes care of it all. Over 90% of the spam calls gets filtered.
Call features - When calling a Toll free number we get to see the Wait times and we can even choose Hold for me which enables Google assistant to wait on hold and alerts us with the ring tone when the representative becomes available. I really loved this feature as we can see Google Assistant displaying on screen the text when waiting on hold.
Live translate - This feature is pretty cool especially when we are traveling. It makes life so easier.
9. Stereo speakers are loud and clear. This gets the job done even when camping or even noisy places.
10. Support - 7 yrs of software, feature and security updates and also 7 years of spare parts availability makes this feel like a real flagship phone. I feel with all of these support, unless the battery dies or phone slows down, the phone might keep going for the next 7 years.
11. Security - Tensor G3 has the Tensor security core built in and it works with Titan M2 security chip which makes the phone more resilient to attacks and gives us a peace of mind.
Cons:
1. Fingerprint reader performance is still the same as previous Pixel phones and it is not super fast or responsive unlike the phones from competitors. But this is not a big deal for me.
2. Pro Controls are available only on Pro models even though both the phones has the same camera on the front and back except for the Telephoto lens. Google could have really enabled this option even for Pixel 8 as the hardware is almost the same. Expecting Google to turn this feature on in the future to support pro options.
I would certainly recommend this phone to anyone. I would call this phone as Google AI instead of Google Pixel as AI plays a major part on the success of this phone. Even though some users have complained about the phone restarting continuously after software update, i did not face any major issues. So far the Pixel has been performing great. The call quality has been great. The sounds are crystal clear. With so much of AI features bundled with it, I am pretty confident to say that Pixel phones certainly wins the AI competition when compared to the Apple and Samsung counterpart.

I recently upgraded to the Google Pixel 8 with 128GB of storage, and I am really impressed with the smartphone experience Google offers. From its design to performance and camera capabilities, the Pixel 8 has exceeded my expectations in every way, making it one of the best smartphones I’ve owned.
The Pixel 8's design is sleek with a modern look. Its slim profile and premium materials not only make it aesthetically pleasing but also very comfortable to hold. Where some smartphones have almost gotten too big. The Pixel 8 in my opinion, is the ideal size phone and fits perfectly in all my pants pockets. The attention to detail is there, and the phone feels incredibly well-built. The placement of buttons and fingerprint sensor is intuitive, in that they are easy to reach and enhances the overall user experience.
The 6.2” OLED display on the Pixel 8 is stunning. The 1080x2400 resolution makes the colors vibrant, and the sharpness is on point. Whether it's watching videos, scrolling social media, or playing games, the display makes everything pop. The 120Hz high refresh rate ensures smooth scrolling and pinpoint responsiveness, making every interaction with the phone feel seamless. The display itself comes equipped with Gorilla Glass 7 which is one of the most durable glass screens on the market, and because of this I don't feel the need to put a screen protector on it compared to other phones on the market. (That being said I will still be putting a case on the phone, to protect the corners and the back glass).
The Pixel 8 is equipped with Google’s powerful Tensor G3 processor and paired with 8GB of RAM, which allows the Pixel 8 to deliver lightning-fast performance. This makes multitasking a breeze, where I can pull up a youtube video, leave the app and it will still be playing in a popup video player while in a different app on the screen. This phone handles everything I throw at it with ease, providing a snappy and responsive user experience. The Pixel 8 runs on Android 14, and the experience is fluid and for the most part bloatware-free , with some random google owned apps like Fitbit. The integration of Google services is seamless, and the phone receives timely updates and security patches. The addition of new features, such as gestures, face unlock and other customization options enhances the overall usability, making the phone a joy to use. An under the radar addition to the Pixel 8 phone is the new Wi-Fi 7 chip allowing for even faster wireless speeds when connected to Wi-Fi. At the moment of writing this, there are not many affordable Wi-Fi 7 routers available to the average consumer. That being said, the addition of Wi-Fi 7, is great foresight for future proofing the phone as Wi-Fi 7 becomes more affordable, allowing the customer to be able to get the fastest speeds. At home I’m currently using a Wi-Fi 6e router and was able to get speeds over 600 Mbps, which is the fastest I’ve personally been able to get over my 6G network on a wireless device.
Google has promised up to 7 years of software support for the Pixel 8, giving you peace of mind knowing that your phone will not slowly be phased out or slowed down as newer phones come out which is huge. One thing that can not be understated enough is the integration of other Google software and apps. If you have a gmail email and use any of the other Google services, the integration of those is seamless, just by simply logging in with your gmail account and all of your workbooks and spreadsheets from your google docs and sheets are there on your phone. Security nowadays is more important than ever with people’s data and information getting stolen everyday and with the Pixel 8, Google has added their own VPN (Virtual Private Network) where you can enable the VPN in the settings to be on while using your mobile network, just adding that additional peace of mind for you. Do note that when using a VPN your data speeds will not be at their full potential, that being said I was very shocked to see that while using Google’s VPN I was still able to get speeds of 295Mbps on downloads, which is plenty fast for what I’m doing on my phone.
The camera on the Pixel 8 is the star of the phone and is nothing short of exceptional. Google’s expertise in computational photography paired with intuitive AI truly shines here. The new Main Wide camera lens comes in at 50MP and allows you to shoot videos at 4K @ 24,30, at 60FPS and let me tell you it takes some of the best pictures I’ve ever seen on a phone. Then there is also the Ultra Wide lens that is a 12MP with Auto-Focus and allows photos and videos to be shot at 125 degrees which is 22% larger FOV than the past Pixel 7 phone. The photos captured are incredibly detailed, with natural colors and excellent dynamic range. The low-light performance is phenomenal, capturing clear and well-exposed shots even in challenging lighting conditions and great for night time shots. The various camera modes and AI enhancements that Google has implemented is truly industry leading with their “Best Take” feature that will use AI to fix photos where someone blinked or is not looking at the camera in the picture and the AI will find that person's face and in replace it with a better headshot of that person and it's truly magic how seamless and fast it works. The “Magic Editor'' feature powered by Google’s Generative AI-Powered photo editor, is truly mind blowing, in that it's like instant photoshop where it has the ability to edit out things in the background like random people in front of a monument and make it seem like they were never there.
When it comes to shooting videos, audio can kind of be tricky, and we’ve all had this problem at one point, where you are filming a video and then you go to play back the video and you unfortunately hear yourself breathing deeply in the background and just ruining the video and causing you to reshoot the video. This problem is now gone with the “Audio Magic Eraser”. Now with the power of AI, it can go in and remove your heavy breathing along with other sounds like traffic, wind, and birds chirping. This is a great feature where you don't ever have to worry about having to reshoot a video because of bad audio.
The battery life on the Pixel 8 is reliable with a 4575mAh battery. With moderate usage, I can easily get through a full day without worrying about running out of power. The fast charging capabilities ensure that I can quickly top up the battery when needed, providing convenience for busy days.
Overall, the Google Pixel 8 128GB phone offers a great experience. Its impressive design, stunning display, powerful performance, outstanding camera capabilities, reliable battery life, and clean software make it a top-tier smartphone in the market. Whether you enjoy photography, a multitasker, or someone who simply appreciates a smooth and reliable smartphone experience, the Pixel 8 is a great choice.
