ehhh. So after two years, this phone is starting to struggle--I'd expect more from a "higher" end phone (based on cost) from a major manufacturer. The phone itself has a great camera, is a nice size, is well made. but... after two years touch response is poor, battery life is diminishing faster (and I'm a pretty low-end user; usually don't need to charge but every 3 days). All in all, unless there is another amazing deal, this is probably my last google phone.

I purchased this phone for my wife as a wedding anniversary gift. The phone is awesome. Great product for the affordable price point. Features are great in terms of usage. Camera quality is stunning. Not too broad. Not too heavy. The colour "Obsidian" choice is remarkable.
Overall great product.

The kind of phone which I was looking for.
- Astounding camera - You shouldn't be a pro at taking pictures. But, after work by the software, give the photos professional in all angles. Very good at bad light or during night.
- No software glitch - Overall very smooth to handle. I did not notice any lags in switching between the apps or open heavy loaded games.
- Software updates - No need to say, since it's Google!
- Photo editing with AI. One of the editing features let me change my facial expression in a picture where I closed my eyes or looked somewhere or something else. This feature made my jaw drop. There are many other features to explore!
Overall, the best phone at this price. Those who like Android should definitely use this phone once and see what magic this phone does.
Cons:
- Sometimes, feel the heat close to the camera. But, its rarely noticeable.

This phone is okay, but not the greatest Google has made. Some of the main issues:
Camera: For some reason, the autofocus is glitchy. Specifically when taking videos, but also when trying to take photos. The autofocus tends to focus on random objects instead of the person (people) in the frame. There have been too many times when I try to take a video, set up the camera, walk away from it, and find out later that mid-video it focused on a different object and the whole video is now blurry.
Overheating: The phone overheats ALOT. I could be doing something basic like scrolling through TikTok or checking emails, and the phone is burning. I did fix it by disabling 5G (which the phone should be able to handle is can't) and disabling adaptive connectivity services and reabling it (like a reset). This fixed the overheating issue, but it does mean I need to leave the 5G function disabled. If this is an issue for you, then this is not the phone for you. Personally, 5G does not make much of a difference for me because of the area I live in, but I know it does for some people.
Speakers: The speakers are just located in weird places. It's not too much of an issue with the phone itself, but it does present an issue when you put a case on it.
Overall these are more annoyances for me than complex complications, but its still bad considering phones have come such a long way for there to be these basic problems. Some positive because there are some:
Processing Speed: The processing speed is great though, incredibly fast.
AI and features: The AI and assistant are great and it has so many features to make your like simpler. Honestly, its features is the main reason why I continue to get google phones. I like the simplicity of Apple, but when it comes to having a phone that will actually help your everyday life, google always blows me away.
Pictures and Video: The picture and video on it is amazing, when it actually takes pictures and videos correctly it looks amazing.
Battery: The battery lasts a long time and I use my phone ALOT. This could also be because I disabled the 5G function in mine, but its still great to know it will last me all day

I am loving this device.
Initially I was going to get the iPhone 15, but after checking it out in person what the 15 had to offer, I felt underwhelmed. I really didn't want to spend about $800 for mostly the same specks as my iPhone 13. So instead I checked out the Pixel 8 and was pleasantly surprised and gave it a try.
I switched from an iPhone 13 to Pixel 8 and have to say, I am having a really great experience with this phone.
The biggest concern that I had read about this was battery life, cellular connection, and over heating issues.
Battery life and over heating can be a slight issue IF you keep it on 5g, I switched it from 5G to 4G and have not experienced any over heating issues or connectivity issues. The battery needs to take a few days to learn your usage before it really starts getting better. On the first 3 days I was getting about 3-4 hours of screen on time before needing to charge, but on the 4th day I got 7 hours Screen on time before having to charge it at night (day started at 6:30 am and ended at 9pm when it got to 1% turning on battery saving mode at 20%). I stream music, videos, some social media, and lots of texting and email, so battery is a big thing for me, so it makes me happy to know that my phone can last a day before needing to charge it. So it does seem like battery is getting better.
As far as performance goes, this thing is great! I don't play games on my phone so sure, on paper the chipset might not be as strong/competitive with other manufacturers, but for the person using their phone for every day use and not heavy gaming, then this thing is great. Photos do take a little time to edit, but personally, that's not a big deal. The fact that I am able to remove objects I don't want in a photo on the Pixel compared to quick editing with just cropping and coloring only on my iPhone is a trade off I am happy to make.
Features on this phone are so nice that I have family members using iPhone who are considering switching when they upgrade. Some people might think the AI features are gimmicky, but for photo editing and video noise cancelation, I have saved many photos/videos by using these features by removing unwanted audio in videos and people or objects that I forgot to remove before taking a photo.
Overall, I think this phone checks all the right boxes for every day use and is a great size if you don't care about huge slabs.

This phone has been a big improvement from the Pixel 7 in nearly every aspect. Here is a list of the improvements over the 7:
- Camera: both cameras are improved in the level of detail. The video looks better anhas less artifacting. And the addition of a macro lense mode is a really welcome (and functional) addition.
- Face unlock! The fingerprint reader is the same as the 7, so it's mediocre. Being able to unlock using my face for all possible biometric access methods. Seriously, if nothing else changed from the 7 to the 8, this would be worth it.
- Smaller (slightly) phone -- they shrunk the size of the phone and rounded the edges more. Just makes the phone feel more comfortable in-hand.
- Screen -- 120 hz screen refresh and the improved clarity, color, and brightness of the screen make this the 2nd most update welcome change over the 7
I did mention one thing which knocked the phone down from a 5 to a 4 and it's the cellular (5G especially) reception. With the 7, I had really reliable and strong 5G signal in most of area I live. I didn't have handoff issues, and I consistently got 5GUC (TMobile).
With the 8, it seems like the modem in the phone took a step back to the issues that the Pixel 6 were purported to have. I don't know if the issue is just the phone since it has the same modem as the 7, so perhaps it's in conjunction with Android 14 and the new hardware.
I'm thinking this may be resolved with software in the future, but I was disappointed to see the network connection struggling in areas where it was strong with my 7. If you are away from wifi, you can expect a reduced battery life as well because the phone is struggling with getting a consistent signal.
Overall I'm still mostly satisfied, and this could become my favorite Pixel of all time if they can fix the reception issues.

This phone is the perfect size and has a great camera BUT it runs hot. It disconnects from Android Auto every minute or two. The battery life sucks and it gets hot when you charge it. My $300 Motorola G Power 5G 2024 never gets too hot and never disconnects from Android Auto when I am working. This is the third Pixel phone that has given me similar issues (Pixel 8a and Pixel 9 also did that). I will stick with phones with Mediatek and Exynos chips as even my Motorola Stylus 5G 2024 with Snapdragon 6 gen 1 was often disconnecting from Android Auto. Even though the Stylus 2023 4G with Mediatek Helio chip did not. Tensor and mid range Snapdragon keep having this problem. I work for Amazon and I depend on Android Auto 6 hours a day so I know what I am talking about.

Normally I don't do reviews but after reading such an absurd comment from the first review I decided to write about this phone because clearly that person was left in the past along with the navigation buttons. The Pixel 8 is a great fast smartphone with a spectacular screen and a camera that many of your friends with iPhones will envy you when taking photos. The processor is powerful enough to perform tasks without complications. I have the iPhone 15 pro as my other personal phone I can feel any difference. The only weak point for me is the battery which is enough for a day of use but I would have liked it to last a little longer, Although this can be improved with a software update. I am a sales person with cell phones and I recommend this device one hundred percent.

Google Pixel 8: Exceeded my expectations!
I'm absolutely thrilled with my Google Pixel 8 and can't recommend it enough! It's exceeded my expectations in almost every way. Here's why I'm giving it a perfect 5-star rating:
Amazing camera: The Pixel 8 camera is simply outstanding. It takes incredible photos and videos in any lighting condition, thanks to the upgraded sensors and advanced image processing. I'm particularly impressed with the Night Sight feature, which captures clear and detailed photos even in low-light situations.
Long-lasting battery: The battery life on this phone is phenomenal. I easily get through a full day of heavy use without needing to recharge. And when I do need to top up, the fast charging feature is a lifesaver.
Sleek design and build quality: The Pixel 8 has a beautiful and sleek design that feels comfortable to hold. The phone also feels very well-built and sturdy.
Clean and smooth software: The Pixel 8 runs on stock Android 13, which is a breath of fresh air. It's free from bloatware and offers a smooth and lag-free user experience. Plus, you're guaranteed timely software updates directly from Google.
Additional features: I love the other features like the in-display fingerprint sensor, water resistance, and integration with Google Assistant.
Overall:
The Google Pixel 8 is an exceptional phone that delivers top-notch performance in all aspects. It's the perfect combination of a fantastic camera, long-lasting battery, clean software, and a beautiful design. If you're looking for a powerful and reliable smartphone that won't disappoint, the Pixel 8 is definitely worth considering.

Best Android To Date

Of all Androids I've tested, including a recent Galaxy and all of the recent years of Pixels, this is my favorite because of native Google apps, Pixel UI > Samsung's UI (which is better than any of the other Android manufacturer UIs), and other features and functionality exclusive to Pixel models.
And the Pixel 8 has some features that are actually a little different than previous Pixels, even though I estimate Pixels that still are in active update cycle will get them.
But without going into item by item detail, the hardware and software are super. I believe Pixels are underrated because of being a little late in the game with other higher end Androids, especially Samsung of course.
I will make a note that battery life is especially important to me, and this one certainly lasts a full day without getting into critical level with moderate to medium-heavy use and updating and file syncing. Google has done great with battery life the last few years.
And just another note, it's nice to see the continued screen adjustment of coloring and shading when in ultra-bright sunlight, ever since the Pixel 5 series, where it seemed to borrow technology from the old Windows Phones that had this...where the screen doesn't wash out and the coloring adjusts for a very seeable screen. A feature Apple and others have tried with other tech but not as successful if at all (except it seems 2022-23 iPhones have a deeper brightness that does do better in bright sunlight, finally).
For Android seekers as well as devotees, I highly recommend this if you are in the market for a new phone.

I purchased this phone for my 60 year old dad and he loves it! It's super easy for him to use and he loves the camera quality as he has to take pictures for his job. He previously had an old Samsung phone but I wanted to upgrade him to something better that was within my budget so I did some research and comparisons and this was a prefect match. Would definitely recommend this product to any one looking to purchase a new phone.

Best phone ever!! I am very happy with this purchase, and the phone works quite well. The price is right and there was only a slight learning curve when coming from a Samsung phone. I know google has a spotted history when it comes to sale prices on their other models, so maybe the pricing will not be as strong a driver as the Pixel 7 pros and Pixel 8s go on sale, but I am very happy with this budget model.
The battery life last multiple days between charges for me, or for the entire day with heavy youtube usage. It can get slightly warm at times, but no warmer than my S9+ under heavy usage, so I am not concerned. Charge times are reasonable, but I am coming from an older phone, so maybe I am just easily impressed.
The finger print scanner works great for me, and when used in conjunction with the face recognition, is pretty seamless.
Overall, I am very happy with this phone, and will consider the Pixel phone family moving forward.
