    It's all about the software!

I am upgrading from a Pixel 7 and really had a high bar with the Pixel 8 Pro. I admit, I was a bit underwhelmed. Why? The phone is great, the reception seems better on Tmo network in Texas, and the build is a bit sturdier, with the Tensor 3 chip, I was expecting a lot more but ended up getting a baby-step in hardware. However, the software is the star of the show. The unboxing is the usual fare, with just the usb c and the fob to transfer data and the usual docs included. The overall size is maybe a bit wider than the Pixel 7. Is it faster? Marginally to me. I don't really feel like it's like boost of any kind, other than the camera set up. The camera is where this shines really. I normally use the factory setup on photos and use auto, but you really. have to tweak it a bit to make it look natural in a sense. It's not a bad thing, but view this as a HDR+++. It is really amazing. The wireless charging is there, the usb charging doesn't feel faster to me but I know it is. I mean the usual day to day functionality is fine, but it doesn't feel any different than my Pixel 7, which I was suprised with. I was expecting almost flagship feel, but got just a new phone feel. There was really nothing that really got me going like when I got my Pixel 7. The setup and transfer was very long and I don't have much on my phone. Well let me take one thing back. The one thing that did improve from my Pixel 7 is the brightness of the screen and that had improved a lot when looking at it outdoors and the fingerprint or biometrics is better. Not way better, but better than the Pixel 7. I mean would I recommend this? Yes of course, but not if you have a Pixel 7. I can't really recommend a 1k upgrade from that point. I really, really liked the Pixel 7 experience. But the Pixel to Pixel Pro, not so much, unless you see yourself using a lot of the picture software, where you need to back up on your G drive for any of the magic to really work. Any other edits are normal. Going back to the camera, there was also the inclusion of the macro lens there I forgot to mention previously. It works well, but for me, gets in the way and I find myself frequently disabling it when taking certain pictures. I am excited for future software updates for this to really shine, but for me, this Pro doesn't shine in my eyes to warrant the cost at this time.

Best bang for your buck 10.18.24

Excellent phone for the money at time of purchase. Under $500 for a phone that is comparable to Samsungs flagship S24+ and ultra? Don't mind if I do. Before this phone that I've now enjoyed and adjusted to, I would have said buying a good phone you only have two options Samsung or Apple. This has changed my mind entirely. For the budget minded looking for the next best bang for your buck, skip the Pixel 9 and S24 series and save a good chunk of change without the major draw backs of some other questionable phones in this same price bracket. I can comfortable say give the Pixel a chance.

Very happy with the screen & brightness. The battery life is decent, and prefer the flat screen to last years rounded edges.

Love Baby blue! Incremental improvements from Pixel 7 Pro are great -- Matte finish Super bright screen (7 Pro was terrible here) AI capabilities (call screening, photo editing) Camera improvement for video and night sight Amazing 7 year software update support Only thing not sure is the flat screen. Using highest resolution takes a battery life hit, still gets whole day plus in normal usage.

Previously had the Google 7 Pro. That was a great phone with just a few small things I didn't care for - curved edge display and occasional heat buildup on the back of the device. The Pixel 8 Pro has the same clean Android experience, but now comes with a beautiful flat display, no indication of heat buildup (even with heavy use), incredible cameras, and many other small improvements, making this phone even more intuitive. It appears Google has truly nailed it!!

This is Googles flagship phone that I will review with some references to my android flagship from a different manufacturer. First, unboxing the phone which comes with a USB-C cable and adapter, a warranty brochure and a pick to open the sim drawer. Setup was very easy if you have a Google account or by moving data over directly from your old phone if you choose. After puttimg in the sim I was immediately connected to my carriers network with 5G service, another option is the eSim. And just with my other phone speaking on a call was clear without any 'dead' spots as I walked around the house including the basement. Some of the things this phone brings with it that leaves my phone in the dust, in no particular order, that I really like are; • Temperature sensor - update in playstore if it's not on your phone • Voice recorder • Magic eraser/editor • Live translate This model 8 pro unlike the model 6 has wireless charging, welcome to the 21st century. LOL For me it lacks my number 1 favorite and a few other things; • The S pen - not just for taking notes • 10X telephoto lens • 108MP rear camera Bottom line for me, this is an awesome phone with many great features that I'm still exploring, such as macro photo, AI wallpaper, camera magnifier. Yep this one is giving my phone a run for the money

Upgraded from P6... This phone is a beast, from camera to battery life. Display is beyond gorgeous, no matter how bright outside may be, I guarantee this display will be more brighter! The back matte black is beautiful, easier to grip on.

Big selling point was the 7 years of software support. A.i stuff is cool, however I don't see myself utilizing it everyday. Phone runs hot when I first got it. It cool down eventually. Unable to use full resolution as it will constantly restart the phone. Fingerprint reader not as accurate. Overall phone is solid for someone who not constantly upgrading their phones and the phone is good to go without a case.
