Google Pixelbook - best Chromebook yet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The new Pixelbook is setting a new standard for Chromebook performance, flexibility and design. I am a long time Chromebook user and no longer find any need to use my Windows laptop. The Chromebook is quick, excellent display and if I need Windows online, it happens fast.

Love it
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted something a bit smaller for travel and after looking a lot, decided on the Pixelbook. It's pretty much used for on line, but does have a lot of apps available. Starts up very quick. I did have a question and when I connected with their support via chat, it was also very quick and helpful.

Awesome light computer!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great option if you want a light computer that functions just like a tablet. I purchased this for my husband as a gift and he loved it! Recently, I've started using it for tablets whenever I'm traveling and don't want to lug around my full-fledged laptop.

Great looking chromebook
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this chromebook a few weeks ago. Really nice build quality! Easy to use and set up. I did not like the keyboard, it felt hard to press. I could not get use to the feel of it. I returned it. I can see way lots of people enjoy it.

Expensive, but quality.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great build quality. ChromeOS is rapidly developing into a strong operating system and the reveal of AltOS and potential Microsoft certification for Windows 10 on the Pixelbook means the Pixelbook should only get better after purchase.

A great laptop, with some oddities
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.SUMMARY: If you are looking for a highly portable and functional premium laptop for consumption and light content creation and don’t mind the limitations of ChromeOS, this laptop will fit the bill – especially if you are already invested in Google’s ecosystem. PROS: - Sturdy and well built - Beautiful screen - Excellent keyboard and trackpad - Solid battery life - ChromeOS is fast, fast, fast! CONS: - Huge bezels around display - Not a lot of apps are compatible - Poor quality webcam - Assorted oddities and shortfalls DESIGN, SCREEN, KEYBOARD, and TRACKPAD: I’ve found that you’ll either love or hate the design. As seen on the Pixel phones, the Pixelbook plays on the half-metal/half-glass design and I personally love the exterior of the device. It’s thin, sturdy, yet very light and portable. The inside is where in my option the Pixelbook falls short. The screen is beautiful, with great punchy color and a good range of brightness, but it is offset by huge bezels. They are designed to be functional, allowing you to grip the edge of the device and place your thumb on the bezel while in table mode, but it honestly just looks outdated in a 2017 laptop. The keyboard is wonderful – It’s clicky, has just enough travel, and it took me ZERO time before I was confidently typing away. It does have some oddities that I am not used to like no delete or caps lock keys. The caps lock key is replaced with the app drawer and search. There is also a Google Assistant button (more on this later). The trackpad is also great – it’s made of glass and comes right up to the edge of the base . The trackpad comes with two oddities. First off there is no option to enable true right click – you’ll have to use a two finger click to achieve this. Second it’s flanked on each side by two white rubber pads – these honestly make typing very comfortable because your palms rest perfectly on each one, however they aren’t very attractive and mine are already starting to pick up oil from my hands. PORTS and MISC: The Pixelbook has two USB type-C ports on either side, both of which can be used to charge the device (yes!). It also has a headphone jack (double yes!). There is a volume rocker on the other side right next to the volume rocker. There is no power button, the device just powers on whenever you open it and I don’t think it’s actually intended that you turn it off. CAMERA: The device has a webcam which is awful, - disappointing because Pixel phones are known for their camera hardware. Images and video are blurry and have poor saturation, otherwise the device isn’t bad for video calls, just don’t expect the other person to get the best picture. HARDWARE: The Pixelbook is powered by a Intel Core i5 processor and has 8 GB of RAM and a 128 SSD drive for storing files. Running Chrome OS is just super fast, switching apps, multitasking and everything is just a breeze. I’ve never run into ANY stutters or slow downs yet, and I honestly don’t think I ever will. SOFTWARE: This is were many people will decide if the Pixelbook is the right choice for them. For those of you who don’t know, Chrome OS is very similar to Android, but essentially packaged into a semi-familiar interface that is friendly to use with a mouse and keyboard. There are a lot of things to like about the OS – it’s designed for speed and has a lot of handy shortcuts. It’s very easy to learn and get familiar with as well, making this a great computer for content consumption like browsing the web, watching videos, and playing games. Of course this uses the Chrome browser, so the web experience top notch. Side-by-side multitasking is mildly difficult as it doesn’t allow any sort of app-snapping – you’ll have to stretch out each window to fill one side of the screen – frustrating when most desktop OS’s have a feature an easy way to do this. It’s also great for some light content creation - It comes with Google docs and you can also get the app versions of Microsoft Office in the Google Play store that are also compatible with the larger screen. There is a file browser you can organize your documents and photos easily as well. There are also some Adobe apps and drawing/CAD apps that work great too. Note that none of these third party apps are the full desktop applications so if you are a power user who needs the full versions of these apps, this is most likely not going to fit the bill. I also encountered many apps either not being designed for (or poorly designed) for the larger screen and keyboard - when you run these apps, they won’t take up the entire screen which can be frustrating or the layout is not just designed with a keyboard and mouse in mind. WRAP-UP: Overall, this isn't necessarily a bad laptop given some of the limitations, but I think it's designed for a very specific niche of consumer. If you are looking for a laptop that is very well built, functional, and easy-to-use and only expect to do some light content creation then this computer will be perfect. Additionally, if you are already invested in the Google ecosystem and own and Android phone or use Google docs, this computer has the potential to fit right into your workflow.

A possible alternative to Windows 10
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this as a possible alternative to Windows 10 and it's endless stream of lengthy updates. Great Pixelbook
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this Pixelbook to replace an old Netbook I’ve had for 10 years. It’s great, as it boots up quickly, and has an awesome display. The added feature of The Chrome system is a plus as well.
