Surface Pro and Macbood Alternative
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was one of the many that brushed off Chrome devices and not for service play or work. The Pixelbook has changed my perception. This device is slick, well made and powerful. The images are gorgeous and it is very easy to use. It is extremely portable and I love that it can be used as tablet or like a laptop. Google operating system takes some getting used to, but it is stable and secure with always up to date security. It is expensive but I believe it is worth it for the quality and reliability. I look forward to get the pen to enable additional features.

It's a chromebook on steroids!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'd owned a chromebook a few years ago and subsequently sold it because of its limited functionality. I went back to using windows laptops but was constantly frustrated with the long start times, constant updates and limited battery life. I decided to try a Pixelbook after reading the reviews and realizing that it both Chrome applications and android applications. I have not used another computer in the 2 weeks I've owned the Pixelbook! The battery is easily lasting 8 - 10 hours, the keyboard is comfortable and the touchpad and touchscreen are very responsive. The unit doesn't heat up when charging or when used! We utilize Microsoft Office products at work, and the ability to use actual Microsoft Office apps instead of having to convert everything through Google Docs has been fantastic! The wifi is fast and stays connected and videos and the games I've played have been smooth. The laptop screen will fold back to use as a tablet or 1/2 way to use as a media center. The i5 processor and 8 GB of ram allow the unit to run with 0 lag or latency. The build quality is phenomenal down to the silicone palm rests. I highly recommend this as an alternative to anyone looking to upgrade or replace their laptop.

Hot Google tablet
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I must admit that I never thought I would like another user graphical interface (GUI) without Windows or iOS. Above all, iOS and Windows bring a higher CPU overhead and so the speed is amazing on this tablet being equipped with an 8th Gen i5 Intel CPU & SSD hard drive. If you are an Android only user, then this tablet will blow your mind. The Good - The screen is sleek and bright Touchscreen (true tablet feel) Easy laptop conversion Backlit Keyboard Room for Improvements - No USB slots (only USB-C) No SIM card slot for mobile data plan yet (I hope new models will have)

Glorified version of Android Tablet
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you hare a hardcore fan of Chromebook, its the best option for you. I have seen my kids using their Chromebook provided from their schools. I never liked the idea as it solely depends on internet connection. However, I was thinking what if you get a workable solution for $$ and it looked like most affordable way to bring cloud computing to schools. I am a hardcore fan of Google Pixel phones. When I got a chance to take a look at the Google Pixel Book, I had some hope that its going to be another break through device from Google. No, its not. It is just a highly priced $$$$ glorified version of Chromebook with touch screen. For the price point of this series of Google Pixelbook, I would rather get a Mac or Windows Surface!

Genuinely Amazing!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The pixelbook is absolutely outstanding! When Google builds a chromebook with such high specs it makes you wonder what they have planned for the future of Chrome OS. The pixelbook may seem like overkill now but it is completely futureproof and unlike a PC of Mac this thing will never slow down over time. Beside the software experience, the hardware is top notch. The materials feel premium and the build quality is fantastic.

Great Chromebook if you can find a deal.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using Macs for the past 20 years and decided to give Chrome OS a go. Overall, I am pretty impressed with the Pixelbook. It is responsive and the build quality is great (important after using a MBP for the last 10 years). Battery life is good, I get about 7-8 hours with light to medium use. Tablet mode is a nice option, but I feel it is a bit too big and heavy to use comfortably. Maybe good for a movie on a plane or something. I purchased a Lenovo Active Pen 2 to use instead of the PixelPen, which works well (the google assistant feature can even be activated on the Lenovo). Of course this things biggest negative is the price. Still $999 (not on sale) for a chromebook that has been out for almost two years? Insane. Wait for a sale or pick up on open box or refurbished Pixelbook. You'll be glad you did.

The Premium Chromebook
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'll keep this short and not go over the advantages and disadvantages of a Chromebook, plenty of YouTube videos for that. However, you're not spending $999 for a cheap Chromebook and this is as good as it gets. It's gorgeous and every aspect is premium quality, This is the Porsche of Chromebooks. I'm very happy with the purchase and the more I use it the more I smile. One thing I don't like, the bezels..they're way to big.

Great for kids
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Google - Pixelbook 12.3" Touchscreen Chromebook i5 processor, ,8 GB RAM, 128 GB drive, Google assistant, charging cord. *There is a Pixelbook Pen to use with this but that is not included. This Chromebook is great for kids, or for on the go with work or travel. It's super thin, super light weight. The touchscreen is accurately responsive. The screen folds all the way back so you can tent it when you need it propped up. That comes in handy when watching things or sometimes working with the touchscreen. Or totally fold it back to back so it's more of a tablet. It's very versatile. I think the charging cord could be a little longer. There are quite a few pre-loaded apps but you can always customize it through the store. The one drawback is that with it being so thin, there is no USB jack. That would be nice since so many things connect via USB. But I was totally surprised to see it even has a webcam on it. The keyboard has an amazing feel. I'm pretty picky about how it feels to type on one and this is really comfortable and easy. The backlights on the keyboard are really attractive too. Overall. the Chromebook is a great tool to have. My son uses one, not as nice as this at school. so this helps bridge the gap at home with homework. He is very comfortable with it. And I like that it's not very expensive. It's very affordable and a nice laptop for kids or for me if I need to travel and don't want to bring a big chunky laptop with.

Great but....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had the pixelbook for about a month now and for the most part I love it except for one thing, bluetooth connectivity. It will randomly lose connectivity and when you go into settings you can't always toggle on the bluetooth button. I have never had this issue with my pixel 2. After it has happened a handful of times I did a google search and this seems to have been a problem since the pixelbook launched. I would have figured with as much as the pixelbook costs this issue wouldn't be occurring. Other than that everything else is great. It starts up super quick, can handle many windows open at the same time, the keyboard feels great, it is just a dream to work on. If it weren't for the BT issue I would have rated the pixelbook a 5.

Fantastic Build Quality and Performance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very impressed with the Google Pixelbook. The build quality is excellent and feels like a very sturdy product. Both the picture and sound are crisp and high quality. The only downside is the steep price, other Chromebooks are cheaper and can accomplish most of the needs for a person but with the upcoming Linux support (and possibly Windows app support as well) the Google Pixelbook should be able to cover all bases and become an even better product.

It was okay.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer is built very well. One of the best designed computers I have seen aside from Macbooks. However, the OS is almost too simple. You can't install programs, so there are A LOT of limitations with this computer. It's basically a glorified tablet since it has the Android store. For some users this will be perfect as the screen is beautiful and it's super fast snapping through webpages, but for me it just wasn't enough.

Solid Device, but its time to be revamped
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a developer and I am a big fan of Chrome and Google Products as a whole. The specs on this device are sufficient and the processor will give you good performance. The 128 SSD should be sufficient as well as much of what is saved will be saved in the cloud for you. The pen works fairly well, but I think its behind the Microsoft Surface pen in terms of quality and accuracy. The pen itself feels kind of cheap. I think Google should make this feel more like a premium pen. Battery life is sufficient for a whole days use, but at the end of the day Chrome OS just isn't where it needs to be to justify spending this much money on a chrome device that quite frankly looks and feels dated. The bezels on this device are way too big for devices in this age, it's something Google needs to revamp in the next Pixelbook as this is a feature that people want and expect, ultimately it's wasted screen real estate. Overall, if you're looking for something that will boot up quick, and allow you easy access to emails, documents, and the internet this is a solid choice, I just think for the money there are alternatives that should be considered. That being said, I hope Google redesigns the PIxelbook and comes with a better rendition in 2019 that feels more premium. Perhaps a leather Pixelbook like the HP Folio would be a great idea? Let's innovate Google!

wow - beats the new macbook pro
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.the pixelbook is pretty amazing. the only laptop that gave me that feel good feel for months now since a macbook air I purchased in 2009 and was daily driver. i would say I am a techie and been through many devices in the last ten years especially. have Note 9 and Iphone 8 which I switch back and forth between. still using windows 10 machines for gaming only, but the pixelbook is daily driver for home and business right now. rarely ever need windows 10 for business anymore. Im very excited for the future of Chrome OS. loving the intergration with google apps for business too and I had the macbook pro 2016 new one, the keyboard is so bad - keys would stick all the time as I write - I am a writer for the most part and this was barely usable. had to use other machines as daily driver. and right after the one year warranty, 13 months in, never dropped and barely used, the usb-c charging would not charge the machine anymore - after hours spent with apple store, they said entire logic board had to be replaced - $550 repair. fixed it sold it -- then found the Pixelbook. Only 3 months in but so far amazing. The speed of flying around and surfing, jumping pages, it cannot be matched I don not think right now. And the trackpad just as good as the macbooks - first laptop I have used since macbook that had a same or even better trackpad.

Returning - Doesn't seem worth $1k
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So, this is my first Chromebook purchase, and I wanted the BEST. After many months of going back and forth with myself over the price and reading endless reviews, I took the plunge. It is a beautiful device, very easy to use. Great screen/ display, fast, I can install all of the apps I need to get things done. However, a few drawbacks that have me returning it are, one, you cannot record video. I needed this feature to record YouTube vids. You have to download a third-party app to record video. At $1k, where other CB's don't have this feature, the Pixelbook should have definitely added it. Second, the pen is extra. Sucks. Third, the backlight on the keyboard has no manual on/off button, and the auto function is inconsistent. As I'm typing now, very late at night in my dark bedroom, the backlight will only come on if I lay the screen almost completely flat. Even with the screen dimmed. Also, even though I have Google Photos installed, the pictures I take with the PB are not being stored in the cloud for the app. These are only stored on the computer itself. I'll have to download them into a desktop computer. Returning it for all of these reasons. Just doesn't have all of the features I need or like, although, I do love that I can download Windows software onto it, specifically Office 365. Not worth this much money. Kind of let down, but, glad I tried it.

The best Chromebook available
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to replace a Samsung Chromebook Plus that I had purchased in March 2017. As others have noted, it shares a lot of features with the Chromebook Plus (touchscreen, stylus capability, high resolution, weight and size, convertible into tablet), but at double the price. Is the Pixelbook worth twice the price? It depends on what you're doing with it. I despised the keyboard on the Chromebook Plus with its mushiness and tiny backspace key. I spend most of my time typing, so the keyboard by itself was worth the upgrade. My Chromebook Plus was plagued with crashes when pushed hard -- the Pixelbook has never crashed under load. If you're just poking around on the web I think the Chromebook Plus and Pixelbook are comparable, but if you're looking to do some writing or take advantage of Android apps or Linux applications (which the Pixelbook now supports on the Dev channel!) the Pixelbook is well worth the upgrade.

Nice hardware, fair software
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like others here, I really like the quality of build on the hardware, although the lights on the keyboard seem to come on and off for no apparent reason some times, so not sure if that is a flaw or a design spec, but the Chrome OS software leaves alot to be desired. Not sure if its because I am used to windows or mac OS software, but there are so many things I have an issue doing with Chrome OS, like basic file management, that I dont think I could use this as my only OS.. Even though I have a few other android devices, and they are just fine for me, I think that the familiarity I have with Android OS, was not easily transferable to Chrome OS, at least for me.. Its a nice laptop, quality wise, but I wouldnt want it as my only laptop/pc...maybe that will change as I use it more..

Nice, but....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just got this a few days ago on sale for $699. It's my first laptop. It is beautiful, light weight with crisp, bright graphics. I'm not a fan of the keyboard, though. My kids' cheaper Samsung Chromebook has a nicer keyboard than my PIxelbook (from the sense that I make fewer typos typing on their device than mine). The screen also did freeze up as I was in the middle of writing this review. I don't think there's a way to access the 'task manager' if your device is totally frozen. I ended up having to restart and lost my review (made me wonder for a second if Google was spying on me...) So, the REALLY bad thing? I purchased the Chromebook since I found great appeal in the auto updates of the Chrome OS and it was touted as being more 'stable' and I wouldn't have to mess with anti-virus or bloatware from Windows updates. Well, I just found out that Google only supports Chrome OS updates for a limited amount of time. And it is based on when the product was rolled out (NOT the date you purchased your device)!! So, this means my beautiful Pixelbook will be out of commission after about 5.5 years of use. Don't believe me? Search "End of Life Policy Chromebook" No where on the Google website for the Chromebook does it mention this (or, perhaps if it is mentioned, it's not readily visible...)! The salespeople at the store made no mention of it. I wonder if they even know about it. All that is talked about is how great Chrome OS is and that Google will auto update the OS. This 'end of life' thing is a huge deal! Windows supports their OS versions for like 10 years. So, buyer beware...especially purchasing 'older' Chromebooks since they may only 'last' for a few years after purchase. I wish I knew about this End of Life Policy ahead of time. I really would have reconsidered. But I had already invested so much time into researching Chromebooks and I felt urgency to make a purchase decision due to Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals. After much agonizing, I've decided to go ahead and keep the Pixelbook - I figure if I can get 5.5 years of really good use out of it, with no slow downs and lags in performance, it will be worth it. I'm still hoping that Google will change their mind after 5.5 years....
