    Frustrating customer experience

    I had a very frustrating experience with Best Buy and Geek Squad. I made an appointment over the phone for 11am on a Tuesday morning in order to get my laptop battery replaced; however, when I arrived at the store for my appointment, I was told that the store employees wouldn't be in until 12pm due to a big snowstorm the day before. Unhelpfully, no one had called me to let me know of this change. I therefore had to return home and go back out again, which was a waste of my time. When I got to the store, the Geek Squad representative I spoke to was in fact very helpful. I left my laptop with her and she said that I would get a call later that day to let me know when I could pick it up. As it turned out, though, I did not get a call that day, which was aggravating since I needed my laptop back as quickly as possible so I could complete some work coming due. I finally called Best Buy at 12pm the next day and spoke to someone who said my laptop was ready and that I could come in to pick it up; incidentally, I got an email from Geek Squad shortly after this to let me know the same information. Later, the Geek Squad representative who gave me back my laptop noted that while the new battery was functioning properly, my charger was loose in the charger port and therefore not functioning consistently. He said that under my Geek Squad service plan, I could get a new charger for free, and gave me a phone number to call. However, when I called this number, the person I spoke to said that my plan actually did not cover replacement parts, so I could not get a new battery for free. This was obviously frustrating as well since I expected to not have to pay for a new charger. All told, my experience was far from seamless and indeed featured numerous miscues on the part of Best Buy and Geek Squad. I am grateful that my battery has been replaced but wish that getting this accomplished had not been such a hassle.
