    Bad App, Bad Customer Support

I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend that before anyone buy a Honeywell Smart Device, that you look at recent reviews for their smart App. Let me tell you about my experience: Purchased a unit back in July, worked flawlessly up until last night, ran like rock for remote adjustments through 2 vacations, reconnected flawlessly through an entire network revision with an insane amount of network reboots as I added a security system. Reconnected fine every time. I would have never considered a honeywell on my own, there are bigger names for smart thermostats, but my new construction house came with not smart honeywell that used the same mounting pin, so i could literally yank the old off and toss the new one on, no wiring work; SOLD! and it was a tank... until last night. Last night the app gives me a random, "we lost connection to your thermostat." This morning, can confirm the physical device is not connected to the network (can't pull local temp error). So I reboot it, error goes away, check my router and the device is connected and pulling real-time traffic. However the app says that the device is offline. I try closing the app, force closing, delete cache then force close, delete cache & delete data then force close, finally I try deleting the app and reinstalling. No matter what "device offline." Now the first time I setup the app, it was a pain (5 attempts) because of how buggy it was; I can see real time traffic on my router for both my cell phone and the thermostat. It has to be the app being weird, I'll call their support. 1 hour later, a rep picks up says to delete the device and re-add it, and that if that doesnt work call back, and THEN HANGS UP ON ME. So I try just that. And the app refuses to add the device back. Here is where the problem lies: The you have to connect to the device via wifi to adjust any settings or add it to your app account, it forces you to "setup" the wifi and then boots your personal device back to your home network. The app says it has finished setup and is just "initializing" then comes the error "unable to detect your thermostat on your home network. please make sure you are connected to a 2.4ghz (not 5)" and the app CANCELS THE SETUP and then you have to start from scratch. So I call back to their support (another >1hr wait). While on hold here is what I manage to confirm and attempt -both devices are connected to my wireless router with internet access -Power cycle wifi - I attempt to add the device from a my android phone, my wife's android phone, my work iphone, and two different tablets. - I factory reset the thermostat 3 times - I reboot my router. - I reboot all the devices, with the exception of my cell phone, and retry all the setups. Nothing Finally support picks up, has me try all that again at the same time: reboot 2 cell phones and tablets after deleting the app, reboot wifi, factory reset the thermostat, and try again. We try my phone, no go; factory reset the thermostat and try wife's cell, no go; rinse and repeat through all my mobile devices. Then comes the most amazing question I've ever heard "do you have any other devices you can try?" Ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous. It isnt the hardware, its the app, and there are plenty of reviews (on android at least) showing a similar experience since the last app update. Am returning and going nest. Should have done that all along.

Not Compatible with Verizon G3100 Router

I bought this thermostat a little less than a year ago. Until a few weeks ago, it worked great. Then suddenly something happened where it went offline completely and will not reconnect to wifi. Period. I'm tech savvy enough and have multiple devices connected to my Verizon Fios wifi, but this thermostat can no longer find my wifi. It finds everyone else in the neighborhood's wifi, but not mine. Something occurred in late August 2021 with either a Verizon update to the router or an update pushed to the Honeywell T9 thermostat which makes it so this thermostat will not find my router. Honeywell's customer service for this thermostat is non-existent, so don't bother with that either. So now I'm stuck with a $250 "smart" thermostat that doesn't connect to wifi. I'm really frustrated by this as I've tried to turn off the SON on the router to try and find the 2.4 GHz connection as some online forums suggest, but nothing will make it find my wifi anymore. I've tried everything, and the only thing left is to condemn it and get another brand. This Honeywell T-9 thermostat is GARBAGE so do yourself a favor and go with a different brand.

Good Luck - Do not buy

Install - Good luck. Save yourself 8 hours and just call a pro - $250/$300. I wish I did. I have heat and AC running off it. Second If you want to use this w/o WIFI - know this-- it stops working every time the power goes out, It forgets the date & time. If it has no time - it will not turn on your heat or AC. - So you can't leave your house in the winter.....if the power goes out for 2 seconds the heat will not start until the time is put back. The website is zero help. check it out if you are interested- look at the 4 minute video on install---it is crazy they do 2 types of installs at once. Please call 1 855 733-5465 the support number. I have never gotten a person to answer. I can only get this to work for heat - my AC will not turn on. I now have a 2 week wait to get a pro out.
