The early black friday price on these specs made it tempting and the build quality sealed the deal. This machine is downright zippy! The feel of the device is solid and top-notch and the keyboard is a dream coming from a MacBook Air. Not sure what the complaint is about screen brightness (seen in other reviews of this model). It's more than serviceable for my uses, most of which are indoors. This model does indeed have access to the google play android store, making it more than capable for most uses. It also is able to use linux via the current beta (on a virtual machine). The backlit keyboard for surfing in the dark was a cherry on top. The screen requires a capacitive stylus, but with some patience and tweaking, you can make it work for more-detailed drawing. Hard case and hard screen protector are, well, hard to find. The only one I could find right now is serviceable but not usable in tablet mode (the thickness of the case put too much pressure on the hinge). I was completely unable to find a tempered glass protector specifically for this model, so I'm experimenting with other 14"-hp-model offerings to see what may work.

I bought this for Christmas for myself and another for my wife. I also received a gaming laptop for Xmas. I find myself going to this for checking my banking and emails as well as chrome apps. It's light and snappy online. I think in the long run my gaming machine will also appreciate the down time and last longer. This item is well built, very snappy performance due to the i3 and 8gb ram it moves quickly with apps and I can have many apps open without any loss in performance. The keyboard is nice, love the trackpad. The screen has worked well indoors, though outdoor is a little harder like any device. I hooked up my Bluetooth speaker and it sounds great, although the built in speakers are fine on the go. The only thing that I'd like to see is a finger print reading option. Besides that this clicks all the boxes for me for a Chromebook!!!

If you are comfortable with Chrome and do not need to install windows programs this is an excellent choice. Screen is beautiful, battery is all day and then some. Never had a device with such a long lasting battery. Speakers are better than most laptops. Very durable though on the heavier side for its size. Back lit keyboard is excellent. Extremely fast, if you check the specs on the 8th gen I3 processor you will find it outperforms the 7th generation I5 which makes this a more powerful device than the Pixelbook or 5th gen MS Surface all the while using a light chrome operating system. Runs most android apps perfectly, the only exception here would be some of the high end games. I personally needed windows for work so had to return it but it killed me to do it because as an entertainment device it has no equal in my opinion.

It's only been just over one week since purchasing this Chromebook. Previously we owned a first gen acer from years ago and then we owned a budget Lenovo for about a year. The Lenovo worked fine but I didn't know what I was missing until we got this Chromebook. Fast, smooth, great screen, and great feel all work together to make it an easy and seamless Chromebook experience. I got a nice deal on this and offset the remaining cost with some money for selling the Lenovo. I don't know how I'd feel spending the full MSRP amount on any Chromebook because at the end of the day, it's just a Chromebook. It's not a device specific knock, just a general category knock. Bottom line is this is still a very nice device.

I love this chromebook. I bought this in July 2019. Today is Oct 2020 and I have had no issues. The keyboard is quality, The screen size is perfect. I have transported it only a few times, It's probably a bit heavy, but I like the solid feel of this book. I have watched movies on it thru Amazon Prime thru my bluetooth headphone, but it does have a jack. It has two charging ports one on each side. After charging I can use it for approximately six hours. I use a wireless mouse when I am at home, just because I prefer it. I also appreciate that it suggest safe passwords and saves all my passwords so I do not have to remember them to sign in. The screen brightness and colors are 100%. The only problem I can say is when I print it has been printing black and white only. I am assuming it is something that can be fixed?? I just am not able to. I will never buy a laptop again. I do not need anymore viruses. That was the reason I switched to chromebook. The last two HP laptops I owned crapped out within two years and even with purchasing virus protection, they constantly got viruses. Did I say I love this chromebook? I was researching chromebooks, and apparently they are only meant to last 5 years, which is more than my laptops have been lasting and I have paid $800 for them. This cost me $401.00 out the door. I am 58 years old, I hope you like my review.

This Chromebook has an I3 CPU which is a powerhouse for Chromebooks. 8Gb of memory will always be plenty unless you are a developer. The screen is fine and the max brightness is slightly above average for this class of devices. It surely would benefit more from brightness but is perfectly usable inside the house. Touch screen and tablet mode is very handy. While 64 Gb for hard disk and somewhat slow eMMC could be better, they do the job without any noticeable slow down. And the fingerprint has been working quite reliably.

This Chromebook gives you a lot for its price. With its Intel i3 processor and 8 GBs of memory, it never gets bogged down, no matter how many tabs and apps I have opened. It can do a slideshow of large graphics smoothly (which made my old chromebook choke). The screen and keyboard are both excellent. It has a usb-A port in addition to 2 usb-c ports which is a nice bonus. The only criticism I have is the sdcard reader doesn't have a cover and since it is close to the on/off button, it is very easy to accidentally eject the sdcard when you are trying to turn off the machine. (Note: this is our second one of these we have and this review is based on using the first one for 8 months.)

I had played around with a chromebook previously, but before Android apps could be installed and without a touchscreen. I really like Android over Apple, but have to admit that most Android tablets are under powered from a hardware perspective and tend to be slow and buggy (but cheap). This chromebook offers a proper hardware set for great performance (the i3 chip and 8 gigs of RAM) and the 2 in 1 works great. I find myself using it in tablet mode for reading the daily paper (keep up with three different papers) and various magazines (texture app). Sits easily on the lap, and the screen resolution is more than adequate. Very snappy performance. No lag, not buggy at all. Everything just works, and instantaneously.

I got this Chromebook when it was on sales for $400 and i am very pleased with it. It has a I3 8th gen and 8 GB of ram so it is higher spec that anything in its price range. It converts over easily but has enough resistance that it does not change the tilt every time you touch it. This computer is compatible for the linux Beta so if you are wanting to play with Linux containers then this one will work for that. Battery life is between 12 and 13 hours normally. if i start up a linux container it cuts that down by about half but when running 2 OS what else would you expect. you can also run android apps on this machine and use multi point touch gestures inside of and outside of the apps.

The Good: Alright specifications for a Chromebook with an acceptable price, I bought one on sale under Used-Excellent condition. Good RAM, CPU and storage, the screen had good colors, okay brightness very sharp, had enough ports and middling battery life. Good for all of the basic Chromebook needs, web browsing, video playback, word processing and light photo editing. The Bad: The main purpose of purchasing the laptop was for Android gaming, video streaming, local playback of videos and music files. The laptop failed at all of those tasks. There wasn't a good software solution for the media playback that would meet my needs. Video streaming was okay, however a service didn't have an App for the Chrome OS environment so I had to resort to using the default web browser. The screen reflected almost everything and wasn't too bright in well lit conditions. I wasn't sure if it was software or hardware, the gaming on the laptop wasn't happening at all. Apps would download, install and run. Games would play okay for a few minutes until the laptop gets too hot and the hardware would throttle itself until the app is closed and the unit cools down. Thus making the gaming experience a terrible one. The fans were louder than the speakers on the unit. The speakers where the worst, yes speakers in laptops aren't supposed to be great, however these were just awful, the speakers on my tablet from 5 years ago sound better and louder than the ones on the laptop. Not sure why HP invested in that speaker brand. Over all, the laptop looks great in paper but in practice it falls short in the media consumption department, either software or hardware isn't optimized to function with each other. Returned the unit within 4 days of purchase since it wasn't tailored to expectations.

I love how small and light weight it is. I use this computer for school and other things. I wished I could use my hotspot on my phone with it but that's fine I guess. I never had any issue with it nor have viruses on it. The battery life on it is great for the size it is. I love having the finger print as a password. I also love the touch screen on it. It's basically like a big tablet with keyboards. When you flip it all the way it looks like a tablet but when its normal the screen looks regular.

I purchased this on sale for $399. At that price it's a steal. It has plenty of power for anything I throw at it. The fan is pretty quiet. I mainly use it for Android apps. One thing I didn't like about the Google Play Store for chromebooks is, there is no apps available for Blink or Wyze security cameras. Battery lasts a long time and charges back up quickly. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

It’s thin and light. Beautiful design and finish. Gorilla Glass Screen is sturdy even when folded. Full keyboard is comfortable. Pad is big and has easy to use gestures. Battery life is easily 8-10hrs. Camera is okay. Screen is bright enough and has night mode. Speakers are nice and loud. Makes very little noise/heat when used a lot. Fast charging (USB-C), aux connection, you can expand memory with micro sd card, 8 gbs ram, 64gb memory. BUT it does NOT come with pen. Picture is misleading. Pen is $50ish. Bought for my sister so it was $100 off. Great buy. Worth it for sure.

So far this device is my favorite Chromebook. In the past iPhone 3 Chromebooks all being in the 11.6 in screen size category. Yes this Chromebook is bigger but it's not as big as what you would expect. this Chromebook basically has the same footprint as a laptop but they 13-in screen, and I can easily fit this in a 13-in laptop sleeve. The performance is outstanding on this, the 8 gigs of RAM really makes a difference. at the full MSRP this Chromebook is a little bit hard to recommend, but but the frequent sales at Best buy has on this it's a no brainer to pick it up.

Returned the Samsung m3 processor Chromebook for this one because it went on sale a few days later . This Chromebook is super fast and is compact to the Point you can bring it anywhere easily . Screen is great for watching movies and the backlit keyboard is a must . I noticed the difference in speed almost instantly when web browsing as well. Only thing i wasn’t fond of was the micro Sd card is easily ejected by accident if you’re not careful. As far as the price and performance this Chromebook will be hard to beat.

I have been using this chromebook for almost a month and so far i have no complaints. The processor speed is great for multi-tasking, the back-lit keys are perfect for dark room use. No issues with the touch-screen, very responsive (though it does smudge easily, but that is to be expected). Battery life is amazing, with a very quick recharge time. This chromebook is not very heavy, and the finish feels great when typing and holding the chromebook.

This is a premium chromebook that has great battery life. The build quality feels similar to that of a Macbook. Fast with no performance issues. Keyboard feels nice and types quiet. Love the trackpad, it's smooth as I believe it is glass. One negative of this product is that the screen doesn't get super bright when you max out the brightness. Other than that, the screen is sharp and has a nice touchscreen. It's also on the bit heavier side, but that is due to the solid aluminum construction.
