Near perfect Chromebook...almost
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With an i3 10th generation chip set, 8gb of ram, fantastic keyboard and wonderful track pad what makes this HP almost perfect is the price. To be more specific the almost planned sale price of $529 and sometimes $499 or $399 with student discounts. With out a doubt this a very well built and fast Chromebook. So, why is the 4 stars? What makes it nearly perfect? Well, with a killer keyboard and mean I love this keyboard and yes I am writing this review on the device. And, just as good track pad there are two pit falls for this device. The first one is the 64gb storage. That is too low and it is eMMc storage which is the lower end slower type and honestly I am okay with it being slower, but in 2020 it should be 128gb. Now for myself it isn't a big as don't save files per device. I opt for saving files on a MicroSD card in case something happens to the device. I can remove it and pop it in a new device and I am good to go. What I think really cripples the HP 360 and it did the same on the previous version which by the way (BEST BUY IS COMBINING THE OLD VERSION REVIEWS WITH THE NEW VERSION, NOT COOL BEST BUY......PLEASE UPDATE THIS) is the screen. Yes, it is a perfectly fine 1080 IPS screen, but it fails in comparison to others in the same sector. It just isn't bright enough nor clear enough and colors are enormously under saturated. I wish I could share my side by side photo of it next to a Galaxy Chromebook. I know not exactly a fair comparison, but even with other Chromebooks it just doesn't compare. It truly takes this CB down from being a $629 device to it's sale price of $529 immediately. I simply can not recommend paying more than the sale price for it. But, at its sale price of $529 or lower it is a fantastic device. In fact I traded the Samsung Galaxy for this HP and other than the screen I have zero regrets. The keyboard and track pad more than make up for the screen as they are both by far the best I have tested and used. So there it is, 5 stars minus 1 for storage and screen which if like for me are not deal breakers at the sale price this is a fantastic machine.

Excellent Chromebook!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP Chromebook x360 -14 is an excellent Chromebook and has a premium build quality to it. The device feels very solid and sturdy! For a 14” Chromebook it does have some heft to it. This device has an 8th generation Intel Core i3 processor coupled with 8 GB of RAM. This provides a nice balance in performance and at the time of purchase the device was on sale for $499. This price also makes this Chromebook an exceptional value. Despite several reviews indicating that the fan in this device is loud and runs consistently, my experience has been the opposite. I have played several games on this Chromebook from the Google Play Store and a couple of games from Steam for Linux, while the fan did power on it was not loud and I could barely tell that it was running. I have not experienced any issues with overheating or throttling while using this device. The display on this device has great image quality and good viewing angles. Movies, Games and Images all look very clear. Although I did notice that the display looks a little dim even on full brightness. This is not a problem when indoors but may be an issue if you use the device outdoors or in bright sunlight. The speakers on this device are not bad and for a laptop the sound quality is quite good. The keyboard is comfortable to type on and the keys had nice travel to them while typing! The backlighting on the keyboard is a plus as well. This device has two USB C ports and they both can be used to charge the device. There is also a USB 3.0 A port and a Micro SDCard reader. Thus far I am pleased with this Chromebook and would recommend this device for anyone in the market for a Chromebook.

Best Chromebook and Best Value of 2020
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Way better than the last x360 Chromebook. I had nothing but hardware issues on top of hardware issues with the last Chromebook. Ended up having to warranty it for repairs, bought this one instead on a Black Friday sale for only $379! Everything about this from the design, down to the performance HP listened to their customers about. Thanks for removing those ugly bezels HP, and following a more Spectre/ENVY look this year! I had no issues with the Luminous Gold and white lid, but I admit, it was a little flashy and a fingerprint magnet. The "Mineral Silver" as HP calls it is a much more subtle and premium look. I honestly think this is Space Gray haha, but had to avoid issues with Apple getting triggered over color names. This one is way faster in the processor department too. The 10th Gen Core i3 is still a dual core, but it actually outperforms a gaming processor (8th Gen Core i7-8750H) in web browsing benchmarks. Which is crazy for Intel to be able to do on such a small processor die. Same amount of RAM with higher frequency (if that matters to you), same eMMC flash storage with 64 GB (hasn't bothered me one bit since I use a 256 GB SD Card to remedy space issues). Upgraded chicklet membrane keyboard with less key travel and noise, added fingerprint unlock (I use my phone instead to unlock the Chromebook anyway, still way faster to do it that way). It gripe I've had with it so far Day 1 is the extremely strong magnet to lock the kid down in normal laptop mode (not 2 in 1 tablet mode). Did HP use a Neodymium magnet or something? I have to lift both sides with two hands really strongly, instead of a normal one touch to open like a MacBook. I guess that's great if you are traveling? Again, that's my only gripe with it so far. In conclusion, if you want the Apple MacBook Air/HP ENVY x360/HP Spectre x360 of Chromebooks, you have met your match with this product. All that in a package that's way less money than the products I mentioned above, in a just as premium design/equal performing machine that's more value for the money. Especially, if you can find it on a massive sale from the $629 price tag, like say: Black Friday!

Excellent computer- you’ll be surprised how good!
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wasn’t expecting much from a chrome book -even a more expensive one like this but I was blown away by the quality of this device! Great build quality, beautiful screen and lots of ports. Bang and Olufson speakers exceed expectations. Just fun to use. Chrome book App Store somewhat limited but getting better all the time. Originally over $600 I see the price is $400 or so now- that’s a very good deal for the quality of this computer. Be sure to add a micro SD for expanded storage and a game controller for gaming!

Perfect for light to moderate work.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to buy this chromebook, when the laptop that my job provided me to work from home with, just completely shut down on me. I did my research on a couple of different laptops, and devices to get my work done on the same day. I saw this chromebook, and given the research I did on it, and the price, I figured it would be the best option for me, and boy was I right. It is awesome!! Long lasting battery, Great screen, a Backlit Keyboard, Good sound, It DOES have a built in web camera!!! I repeat it DOES have a built in web camera. I do not know why under the specs it says that it does not, and while it is not the best one on the market, it gets the job done! It is a 2 in 1, so it turns into a tablet when needed, it is a bit heavy to just hold on to in tablet mode, but just place it down on something, and it is perfectly fine. Now a chromebook is not the same as a laptop, but I have been just fine with it, I am still able to do Microsoft applications such as Word, and Excel, and make schedules. It is very fast. It has android apps, so I am able to listen to my Spotify, while doing my work if I choose which is GREAT!. I was honestly thinking of switching this, for a "Laptop" but chose not to because this is perfect for what I do. It is slim, and light as well, so it is easy to travel around with. The white, and gold sounded weird at first but it is very aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I absolutely love it, and you will too!!

My go to Chromebook
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The price was perfect. The backlit keyboard is a game changer!! Very responsive to touch and I would recommend a 2 in 1 chromebook. Flip and it automatically turns the keyboard off and the screen size and HD display, perfect for homework and work on the go!!

HP Touch-Screen Chromebook Rocks!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A very good laptop that has succeeded my expectations. No issues so far, fast, easy to navigate and comfortable keyboard. Love that it bends backward and becomes a tablet. The touch screen makes it easier to operate and saves time. It’s a keeper!

Q: QuestionCan this laptop be a Full Substitute for a Windows PC/Laptop? meaning can I use it for Banking, Outlook, Office 360, and store my files safely? will it open Adobe PDF'S?
Asked by new2chromeOS.
- A:Answer It depends by what you mean by full substitute. You should clearly think through your use case before switching operating systems. It will run Microsoft apps from the google play store or office 360 online. You can also use online banking and check book apps from google play store. You can run most media apps with no problem (notable exception - iTunes, although you can run Apple Music if you are willing to ‘sideload’, but this is a hack). Chrome will open PDF’s with a Chrome extension. You can store files locally, but the Chromebook user should think in terms of using google drive as default storage, with internal storage used for files needed for offline access. And don’t let the 64GB of internal storage deter you. This Chromebook also features a micro SDcard slot so you can easily add storage by inserting a micro SDcard. BE AWARE THAT PRINTERS are a special subject in the Chrome OS world. Make sure you are aware of your options if you intend to print from a Chromebook.

Q: QuestionI was going to buy one to day until I started reading reviews about the fans how bad are they? Thanks
Asked by Sully.
- A:Answer It has a core i3 processor that does have a cooling fan, unlike a lot of other Chromebook models which use fanless core M or celeron processors. So far the fan is the one thing I haven't been thrilled with on this computer. It's not terribly loud, and it doesn't run all the time, but it also doesn't take very long of using the computer for the fan to come on. Like I said, it's not all that loud, so really this has been a minor inconvenience rather than a dealbreaker, although that's definitely more of a personal preference thing. Overall I've been really pleased with this model- the core i3-8130u is crazy fast (faster than the fanless models used on most Chromebooks- that's the trade-off!), and this model might have the nicest trackpad and keyboard I've ever used on a laptop, period.

Q: QuestionDoes the keyboard backlight turn off? Is it always on during the day? Can you toggle how bright it is?
Asked by Nick.
- A:Answer The keyboard backlight can be turned on or off using the Alt-Bright key combination. It has several levels of brightness that it cycles through with each press of the Bright key (the same key used to increase screen brightness, but combined with Alt to control the backlighting).

Q: QuestionWhich stylus should I purchase for this chromebook?
Asked by Student.
- A:Answer This is a capacitive touch screen so most stylus will work but you can just as easily use your finger most of the time. Wacom makes very nice ones or Insignia makes nice ones that are a bit less expensive with a bigger tip.

Q: QuestionIs this chromebook fanless?
Asked by Jope.
- A:Answer If you didn't tell me it had a fan, I wouldn't know. The machine's latest-generation Intel Core i3 processor, plus improved thermal management and metallic construction mean that the fan rarely runs at more than a whisper. I would definitely not worry about it.
