I was not sure what to expect with a chromebook, but I am very disappointed. I tried giving it time to see if I could get used to it or get it to work, but that didn’t pan out. The physical item is fine. I like the display and the feel of it. However, I was shocked to find that I could not access software such as Google Earth Pro, Office, or Zoom. I reported issues that cropped up, such as Office being unable to open even when I removed the program and reinstalled it. I downloaded a Linux plugin which would allow Google Earth Pro to run. I paid the annual fee for access to WinZip so I could unzip files. However- Tonight there was an incident that broke the proverbial camel’s back - it crashed. All of the files I had worked on recently were not recoverable. My external hard drive lost a bunch of files. And there was no way to recover anything, so far as I can tell. Very disappointing product. Would not recommend.

I could not charge it anymore. I spoke with two different people at HP tech support, which were no help. First you can't call, everything is done through chat, so when the computer you have doesn't work you have to use your phone, which their site is not mobile compatible. Secondly, because they wanted me to download a program and did not understand the fact that it was a Chromebook and I could not do that. This is apparently a common problem with HP Chromebooks, look at another brand instead.

All of my other devices stay connected to my wifi network but this chromebook does not. Good luck trying to reach a human at HP for tech support. Its camera didn’t work right out of the box. I brought it in to Bestbuy and they did software upgrade and it worked. Ok, that I can manage. We use this for my kid’s remote school and it just does not support features in Zoom that other devices do. It also cannot switch Zoom classrooms smoothly and sometimes even if we join the next class (and the waiting room info shows it’s a different class) it still sends us to the previous class unless we reboot the system. 4 months into using this, the mousepad gave away and it randomly clicks everything every nanosecond. I am so angry and upset and am NOT interested in going to Bestbuy again to fix this in the middle of pandemic. A product of this price tag should not need a few trips in 6 months for repair. What a piece of junk and waste of money and sanity. I’m beyond angry. The rating is deceptive. Garbage.

I tried everything from resetting and recovering but nothing worked, had to exchange for another laptop.
