    Disappointed that it didn't work

So upset and disappointed. Intially, I was super excited of how savvy the actual computer was when my daugther opened on Xmas day, within a few days she couldn't use the camera. So, I returned it and got another. Now the new computer's camera doesn't work at all. I have no idea if they are just a wrong batch sent to my Best Buy, but the price and the reviews had me thinking that my choice of buying would be worth while - Guess not! Very disappointing to say the least.

I purchased two of these computers for for my K-12 children. After 4 months neither computer functions. One failed as a result of software issues and one failed due to hardware issues. A computer repair technician who tried to repair both computers said chromebooks are manufactured cheaply and they see these issues regularly. If you’re in the market for a chromebook, buy a cheap one so you’re not out a lot of money when it stops working.

I was looking for a substitute for my MacBook Pro, thinking that the Pro was no under warranty. The straight answer from the sales rep should have been "No, this is not a good substitute." I should have returned it within the return period but was too busy. I have not really used it since I bought in July 2021. I really do not know how it works.

We bought 2 of these for our kids. One is working fine, but the other not so much. When we access the camera, the light comes on and the computer thinks the camera is working (Zoom meetings show a black screen, not name), but there's only a black screen. There's nothing covering the camera either. HP support said it was a hardware issue and we should exchange it. The replacement that just arrived has the same issue.

    Pretty much the perfect Chromebook

As long as you understand what you're getting with ChromeOS, then this is pretty much the perfect Chromebook. I grabbed it on sale ($450) and couldn't be happier. The 1080p display is crisp and clear. The i3 processor and 8 GB of RAM make this thing incredibly fast. I've yet to have any slowdown or lag while playing videos and typing documents with several tabs open. The keyboard is a joy to use and the trackpad is comfortable and works well. Having a backlit keyboard is also a major plus and I have no issue with the audio either. The fan does kick on now and then, but it's gotta be the quietest fan I've heard on a laptop and isn't annoying at all. I really have no complaints about this machine itself, though I do wish more apps in the Google Play store were optimized better for Chromebook use as opposed to having that "it's made for a phone but compatible with Chrombooks" feel. As long as you understand those limitations and use the Chromebook for what it's meant for, then you'll be very happy with this machine.

I purchased this laptop last month. Shortly after turning on the laptop, charging it, and browsing the web for a bit, the screen went black and the laptop just stopped working. My daughter is pretty tech savvy, so she tried to reset the laptop herself. However, the laptop stayed in a frozen state no matter what she did. We ended up returning it. Pretty disappointed with the overall experience.

I bought this 6 months ago at Best Buy. I had never used a Chromebook before, and I was somewhat trepidatious, but just dove in, and I'm glad I did. So far, the build quality has proved to be excellent. It's blazing fast on the net, and storing and retrieving files from the cloud is a seamless process. It retrieves files from Google drive faster than my MacBook Pro calls up files stored locally. Streaming media playback is smooth, but there are some real limitations in playing video from various sources, using various customized configurations which are simple to achieve on a Windows or Apple machine. Limited video playback options - even VLC is weak to practically useless on a Chromebook. But the ability to run Linux really enhances its capabilities for image editing. Being able to use GIMP on this machine means I'm not limited by Android's weak image editing software. The built-in Bang & Olufsen speakers are a small miracle for personal sound, but overall volume is limited even with external speakers, and Android's weak 5-band equalizer doesn't do much to beef it up. So, this machine is fast and well-made, the 64GB eMMC drive is really well adapted for this kind of usage. It's light, very portable, streamlined and zippy. Heavy video editing and sound production are best left to Windows or Mac. The 360 touch screen is cool, but it doesn't mean that it emulates a tablet. There's too many buttons in the way for that. But the easel or presentation mode is very handy, and the touch screen is responsive and easy to control. I've used it for many hours continuously, and it has not gotten hot or cranky. Very pleased with this HP Chromebook 14-DA0011DX x360, overall.

This Chromebook last just over a year and then it suffered a hardware failure. Doing a CPU diagnostics fails and the computer is completely unrecoverable. It's unable to reinstall Chrome OS. It's outside the one year warranty by a month so it's a total loss.

Do not recommend this unit to anyone. Not any an enemy. Had for less than a year when the mother board went out. No service at the local best buy, as advertised. The unit was sent corporate facility. Cost to repair was almost equal to original new price. Best Buy still has the unit. HP's reputation fell through the floor. NO MORE HP.
