Customers are saying

Customers find value in the touch screen, ease of use, and long battery life of this 2-in-1 Chromebook. Its lightweight design and strong performance are also frequently praised, along with the ample RAM and competitive price. However, some users mention limited storage capacity and occasional fan noise as drawbacks. A few also reported minor compatibility issues and some instances of the device overheating.

I was looking for something to replace my slow, huge Dell 15.6 inch laptop. I had considered a chromebook since I wanted something faster to handle mobile work tasks that didn't require a lot of power. I went into Best Buy after doing a little research online and played around with the models in store, and this HP seemed to check most of the boxes I was looking for (moderate price, moderate screen size, decent storage capacity for a chromebook, touch screen/tablet function, USB and SD ports..). The guy in-store suggested I check out a little HP Stream Windows laptop, but after a minute I recognized the same slow response and lag that I had come to expect from my Dell Windows laptop. The screen size is just right; not too small to strain the eyes, but not so large that it discourages mobility and ease of use. Excellent touch screen functionality and the ability to completely reverse the computer for use as a full tablet. Since this was my first foray into ChromeOS, it did take some getting used to the interface and functionality, especially some of the touchpad gestures. I'm still trying to get used to using shortcuts to replace things like the delete/end/home keys but there is a handy guide readily available in settings and accessible by shortcut. I'm still not sure how I feel overall about ChromeOS - I think I like it, but the learning curve is noticeable. I like the ports that are available, a USB-C port on either side (the charger is USB-C so this allows you to charge from whichever side is most convenient at the time), USB-A port, SD card slot, and headphone jack. I don't use my computers as display monitors for video or connect to other displays so I don't care that there's no HDMI port, but this may matter to some. I like the external appearance, the top is a clean matte white that is reminiscent of apple products. The important thing to keep in mind when deciding if a chromebook like this will work for you is what you use your laptop for, and what types of programs you need to run. All of my work and school programs are web-based, so chromebooks can handle that. If you need to download hard copies to run off your device offline, chromebooks may not be a great choice since they lack significant storage capacity. My favorite thing about this Chromebook is it's snappy response. When you open the computer up, it goes from off to fully ready in about 5 seconds. I love that! Also, it shuts down quickly and recovers from sleep mode rapidly. After using it for about 4 weeks I have yet to notice any lag, freezing, or other annoyances commonly found in Windows PCs from time to time. I'm happy with the decision I've made and the device meets all of my expectations. Side note - I bought this computer at full price - $599.99. The next week, it was on sale for $449.99. I went back to Best Buy and they refunded $160 (difference plus tax) to my card immediately - I handed them the receipt and the transaction took less than a minute. I really appreciated the ease of that situation.

I have had this laptop since April 2020 since I had to start teaching on Google Classroom from home during the pandemic. It has been a great device until now, September 2021. It turned off and will not turn back on. Not even 18 months old and will not work. This is not a quality device.

Worked fine for the first couple of months. Then all of a sudden stopped working, wouldn't turn on. Sent it HP because it was still under warranty to find out what was wrong with it. They said it was damaged by owner, didn't specify what the issue exactly was. Will never buy another HP computer again.

Do not get this computer if you're a college student. Alot of the software, you'll use for classes does not run on this computer. Save your money and time. Just get a regular HP or MAC. Chromebooks are not University friendly.

“Google” shut down my email, and therefore access to the iPad because their system is so insure, that they accused a user who had sent one email off of their new account with “Spamming”. I don’t even know what spamming is, much less have a desire to do it. Don’t buy this “Google” Chrome Book

This chromebook has just about everything you can ask in a higher end chromebook with just two negatives for me. On the the pros. The HP x360 chromebook has all the speed you'll need from a chromebook with enough memory to handle most of what you can throw at it and with Linux support there's quite a bit you can toss its way. Battery life is phenomenal. I've surfed the web for hours, played one game (30min of evoland), watched an old school Shaw Brother's Kung Fu movies and it still had 56% left. This is over two days of use. Based on my usage I could go a week without having to charge. Sleep used about .5% per hour, while not great, better than the other chromebooks I have. Google devices seem to be terrible with standby drain. I've had over 30 chrome tabs open without any stuttering or lag (this can vary depending on the sites). 8GB of RAM is a blessing for us tab heavy web surfers. I haven't yet found anything to tax the processor, but the again this is a media consumption too rather than a work laptop for me. The process is actively cooled so be careful about blocking the air ports on the bottom and back. The fan has only been audible during boot up in a totally quite room so it's not distracting. That said, the x360 does get a bit warm on the bottom. The speakers get pretty loud but, like most laptops, lack the deep end lows. The soundstage it projects seem pretty wide and full, just don't expect to feel it in your chest. Being a 2-in-1 comes in handy at times, but the weight and size just make it a bit difficult to use as a tablet. 16:9 at a size bigger than 11" seems to not fit a tablet well. Unless you have freakishly big hands the keyboard has be used on handed while you use the other hand for typing. IMO 3:4 or 2:3 ratio would have been better for tablet use. The cons are two - one being a feature that it never claims to have and that it would have been nice to have included pen support, even if the pen had to be an optional purchase. You really can't ding them for that since it's advertised as not having pen support. The other con is the screen, not the resolution as 1080p is fine for a small screen unless you use it 5" from your face, but the color. Mine is extremely warm and over-saturated. It's especially noticeable in the yellows that tend to look more orange. If there were a way to recalibrate the screen this wouldn't be an issue, but chrome os lacks any controls to tweak color. The screen also doesn't very bright. Probably 90% of my use will be indoors where it wont' be a factor, but outside it may become an issue if I decide to take it out while BBQing. It's been overcast the last few days so sunny day testing hasn't been done. Overall this is one dang fine Chromebook and #1 in the performance category but #2 overall in the chromebooks I've owned. If I actually had to do work on a Chromebook the x360 would be top on the list for the task.

Dont buy ever. 2in1 laptops are the worst invention ever. Just basically a tablet with a keyboard. If your buying this to use as a laptop look for a regular laptop. All the microsoft applications are completely different format as compared to a standard chromebook.

I have only had this computer for a couple of months and used it a handful of times. It is no longer working properly. It is acting as if I am running my hands across the screen or clicking on all kinds of programs, and randomly opening all kinds of things when I am not even touching it

This HP Chromebook is terrific!. It has a sleek design with a nice finish that doesn't show fingerprints. All the buttons and slots are conveniently located on each side (headphone, SD card, power button, volume, ports). I like having the volume button on the side. The Chromebook was super easy to set up and had a good step-by-step tour. You sign in with your Google email - and it brings over all your bookmarks and apps on the Chrome browser. The touch pad is sensitive - but not overly so. I find that it is easier to work in a Chrome/Google environment than a Windows/Edge environment. I thought I would miss some of the Microsoft and Windows functionality, but most everything is accessible online. It seems like such a "clean" setup. I downloaded my favorite apps and put them on the "shelf" for easy access. The best features are in the screen - it is a touch screen and the screen flips over completely (they call it 360) so you can quickly work on it like a tablet. While this won't take the place of my Windows Desktop for work, it will be used for travelling and for when I don't want to be at my desk. It's perfect for checking email, watching movies, searching the internet and working with online apps. It has plenty of speed with the i3 processor and plenty of space since most functions are web-based.
