Quality Chromebook but has some problems.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this chromebook for about 2 months now so I think it would be a good time to write a review. Firstly, this is a very high quality chromebook, probably the best looking one I've owned; the backlit keyboard, color, etc. But after these months of use I have ran into some minor but inconvinet problems, mainly reagarding the screen. The problems started about 3 weeks ago When I try to use the touchscreen to scroll down it either won't work or just click on whatever my finger in near. The more major problem though is whenever I click on something the screen will turn white for about half a second before loading the page, it's a short time but very notcieble, especially when I'm clicking a lot of things. These are the only probvlems I've ran into so far. But, for it to only happen after such a short amount of time is unacceptable considering the $600 price. This is a lot of money, at least for me, and I expected problems to start after a few years of use. I hope the next problems I run into, if any, won't hinder the lifespan of the device. TLDR; This is a quality chromebook but after running into screen problems early into use, it isn't what I expected considering the high price point.

Not a device meant for school
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're looking for a device for school (college), steer clear of this product. Google Chromebook does not support anything microsoft. I have to use Word and Power Point presentation and although these programs can be downloaded as apps and used as independent entities, they do not function properly. e.g., Word doc will save within itself but the documents will not save into laptop files. One professor uses PowerPoint with narrated slides, I can view the PP but unable to listen to narration. In addition to that, it does not support Responus or Lock down Browser; making it unable to take exam on this device. I am essentially out the money from purchasing this product. Reading reviews steered me in the wrong direction. Buyer beware *This Device is Not Intended for Students' of higher education.*

Great laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Chromebook has been perfect for everyday family use - internet, spreadsheets, school work, etc. No reason to pay significantly more with other laptops if you don't need extra horsepower for gaming, etc.

good brand
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I do love the price of this item. I am still a bit concerned that the touch screen will stop working. Seems like a lot could go wrong. But for what I am getting, I think this is a good deal. Plus HP is a very good brand. I do enjoy this laptop and am glad I am trying it!

Chromebook has known issues/Geeksquad is useless
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When this laptop works my daughter has liked this chromebook. She uses it primarily for schoolwork but also for some artsy projects. Everything was good until 11.5 months after I bought it, it just stopped turning on. I looked up possible issues and found there is a battery issue that causes it to stop charging. Once that happens, its hosed. We had the geeksquad protection for 1yr so we took it there. They knew of the issue and sent it off for repair in Dec 2020. Well, after 4+ months of no communication I got an email saying repairs complete & it was being sent to the store. Once it was received by the local bestbuy I went to pick it up whenI was told it couldn't be repaired and here's store credit. I asked what issues were found and was told they had no info. While talking to the front counter rep another geeksquad member came over to tell me she had been looking into this issue since she seen my item & the notes from the repair center. Her assessment was that the repair center did NOTHING. They received it, where it sat for 2+ months. when they decided to start working on it, it was shown as "out of waranty" on that date (in Feb) so they marked it as unrepairable/ship back for refund. At the same time the notes on the repair status state they contacted me (which they did not), and I authorized them to stop repairs & return. Over the next 2 months it bounced between statuses for return and being repaired until it was finally shipped back in April. I was told by the Geeksquad rep that they were researching the issue on their end since this was still under warranty when I requested repair, and their manager would contact me to discuss on the next business day. So 2 weeks later, no contact yet still. With that issue being widely known, and the geeksquad repair guarantee being BS, I would not recommend purchasing either.

Great hardware, great price, mediocre screen
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This chromebook checked all my boxes and the price was just right, but ultimately I had to return it because the screen resolution just wasn't up to my standards. In a world with 1080p or higher resolution cell phones, it was clear to me that the 1080p stretched over 14" just isn't as crisp as I'd prefer. Upon further side-by-sides at Best Buy, the screen is obviously inferior to higher priced Pixelbooks for example. Unfortunately I guess I'm going to have to pay more to be happy.

Ms. Gauthier
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I was looking at the chrome's many of my questions I thought were answered. However, after I made the purchase and tried to set up cannon printer to it (which sales representative said would connect) and it did not. Went in to look at printers and the gentleman there was very disinterested in ANY type of customer service. So I left. I than went on line and did my own research.

I like it but it's worthless
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this HP Chromebook instead of a tablet. What a massive mistake. I returned it after 2 days. It can't run Windows programs, so you are basically limited to what the web has to offer. It can run some apps on the Play Store, but alot of the apps don't have a tablet mode and won't work. Other apps work, but they get stretched somewhat to fit the screen and get pixelated and look like garbage. Billiards apps work well though. On the plus side...the keyboard is nicely backlit...the screen resolution is good...and I like its ability to fold so it's tablet-like. But...it's so not a tablet. A Chromebook is nothing more than a web browser with a screen and a keyboard. Spend the same money and get a Samsung S5E tablet...which is lighter and can do far more. My 2 star rating basically says "it's nice but it's something that is completely pointless"...cuz I already have the Chrome browser on my phone and home computer. Total. Waste. Of. Money.

Bad lemon
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't know if I just got a bad lemon or what. Mine started malfunctioning within four months of purchase, just enouth to be out of the return period. For the most it was perfect until that point, then my screen would start shaking and links would start opening on its own without apparent reasons. I tried everything to correct it - from closing the lid for a few seconds and reoepning it (many times it works), to reset to factory setting (as recommended by a HP customer service rep), to closing down many tabs I have open, nothing fixes this problem permanently. Now I cannot reach HP customer service very easily due to the pandemic, they are not responding to me on messenger anymore, and I am stuck with one that performs sub-standard. Not happy! If I had the choice I would not have purchased this one again. I was quite excited to have found this. I thought I got a really good deal.

Camera is poor quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have only had this for 1 day and I am already pretty disappointed. My main reason for purchasing this was for Zoom and other video calls, but the videos are fuzzy and it looks like the entire frame is moving. The battery also seems to drain quicker than I would have thought. I will have to look into the return process since this is not going to work with my needs. For the price, I was expecting something of better quality.
