was worried that the size of this cartridge meant that there was not a lot of ink --- so far I am not thrilled with the XL Cartridge as I was hoping it would last longer.

      Hi Tom,

I was sad to hear that you had this experience. I can understand if you were disappointed, but most people find the XL cartridge a better value.

Ink usage normally determines how long each individual cartridge lasts. High-density prints (like images and graphs) will use more ink, especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the surrounding air is dry. Here are some things that might help lower your ink usage:
      - Set the printer to draft mode whenever possible
      - Using the black-only setting will save on colored ink usage.
      - Shut the printer down between uses
      - Always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying
      - Subscribe to Instant Ink, then you only pay by the page and not for the cartridges themselves

The seller is responsible for the product you bought from them. If the poor performance appears to be due to the individual cartridge itself, consider contacting the seller.

This is the first bad thing I’ve ever had to say about Best Buy. I ordered this ink for my wife. She has her own business & prints a lot or forms. Well, it started out the package was damaged on arrival and the ink cartridge doesn’t work (I assume is dried up). Anyway that’s all.

      Hi there,

The cartridge box got damaged in transit. Try some of the troubleshooting measures on the HP support website. If none work, this is a defective cartridge. I apologize for this situation. If you return the cartridge at Best Buy, visit www.bestbuy.com/site/help-topics/return-exchange-policy/. This site explains the return process in detail.

      Hi,

I regret this happening to you. The date is actually the end of the warranty date. The cartridge does not expire.

If you're not using the printer daily you can make the cartridges last longer by:
      - Shutting the printer down between uses
      - Always using the printer's power button to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying
      - If the ink levels do not show empty, you can use the cleaning routine on the printer's menu to clear any clogs in the inkjets and get the ink flowing again

If poor performance appears to be due to a defective cartridge, please consider returning it to the seller.
