Bought it ahead of needing it. It sat unopened for a month. Defective on install per lengthy HP 45 minute tech chat. Have to wait two weeks for replacement from HP because Best Buy will not replace it - I've had it UNUSED for too long. Now that package is open they won't take it back. Last purchase.

      Hi,

I can help with this situation. I apologize we missed expectations here. Even if you don't need the cartridge immediately, it is a great idea to check that it works. A test print helps identify any potential pitfalls quickly. In this case, it appears you missed the return window. If you would like to reach out to Best Buy, the site is www.bestbuy.com/site/help-topics/return-exchange-policy/.

My first and last time buying ink cartridges from Best Buy. I’ve had it a month and it’s already dry. When I first put it in the printer kept saying low on ink. I kept trying to troubleshoot the problem and today there was no ink in it at all. What a waste of money!

      Hi Nancy,

I am sorry that the cartridge didn't last long. That seems disappointing.

If you think the short life was due to a defect, you could see about returning it. According to the Best Buy website: "If you receive a product that is damaged in shipping, defective or that is not the product you ordered, please return it during your return and exchange time period to Best Buy and we'll arrange for a replacement. If you would rather return the item by mail during your return and exchange time period, please call us for special instructions at 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289)."

Nothing out of the ordinary here. Cartridges don’t seem to have a lot of ink and are used up quickly

      Hello,

I'm sorry that your cartridges didn't last that long. I can understand if you are disappointed. Most people consider the XL version of the cartridge to be a better value.

Unless the cartridge was damaged or defective, the ink usage would determine how long it lasts. If you were printing mostly high density printouts, that could have affected its longevity.

Here are a couple facts about ink usage that might help:
      - A high-density print (with images or graphs) will use ink more quickly than a text-only document.
      - Using the draft and black only settings on your printer can result in some savings
      - Shutting the printer down between uses can also help; however, always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That lets it ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying.
      - Instant Ink might be worth trying. The subscription plans are based on how many pages you print. You can check out the details at: HPinstantink.com

If you feel that the poor page yield was caused by a defective cartridge, you have the option to request a replacement or refund.

      Hi Jani,

I'm sorry that you didn't get more pages printed. You'd think that an XL cartridge would yield more, however several factors are involved.

High-density prints will use up a cartridge rapidly, especially if the paper is highly-absorbent and the environment is dry. A lot of black is used in almost every single print job.

Using the draft and black only settings on your printer helps save ink. Also, shutting the printer down between uses can help. However, you always have to use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That will let the printer 'park' itself so that the cartridges are protected from excess drying.
