HP Printers and cartridges are codified to detect if cartridge is 3rd party or HP and for expiration - prevent dry cartridges and possibly prevent reusing cartridges using re-fills. Happily when I buy Best Buy HP ink, my system reports its HP original and fresh ink.

Cost is less than what I paid for my last HP Printer. Easy to change and appears more economical in cost and length of time before change is needed.

Don't waste your time with the regular cartridges; pay for the XL's. Print quality and endurance is excellent. The off brand cartridges will work, if you want to save money, but the print quality, waste, mess, and compatibility, in most cases, is not worth the hassle.

I have been very pleased with my printer and the way the ink last in the product. I used the ink that came with the printer and it lasted the number of pages that was advertised by HP. I also liked the price that Best Buy had on the product. While it is only a dollar or two less than the competitor it is still below the others.

Bought the extra ink cartridge this time, although I don't print daily, I do print quite a bit, and these OEM cartridges last a long time, fit perfectly. A little more pricey, and try to get them with a discount or rebate on cartridge returns, but worth the price over refillable ones for my newest printer.

Last a long time It is actually cheaper than using a laser jet.
