Inkjet dries out if you don’t use it at least every couple of days. Have decided to try laser printer.

      Hi,

I am sorry that the cartridges didn’t work when they weren't in use for long. However, I hope to help you figure out how to solve that.

It is a good idea to shut the printer down when it isn't going to be used for a long while. That can save ink and electricity. However, it is very important to always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ the printhead so that the tiny inkjet nozzles are protected from excessive drying

Upon opening the seal, some of the ink spilled out. I thought it was doing but it kept happening to the other ink cartridges I purchased from BB. It's working fine now.

I suggest you get a different brand printer. HP ink is way over priced and the quality is not any better than epson.

Hi techgeek, thank you for your feedback, sorry to hear you are unhappy with the Page yield of your HP 950XL High Yield Black Ink Cartridge. Historically printer manufacturers used their own methods for estimating page yield. However, this made it difficult to compare different products. Nowadays, the published page yield is based on the Industry Standard for measuring yields (refer to International Standards Organization ISO 24711). The actual yield varies considerably based on the content of the printed pages, the frequency of printing, the ink used in set-up etc. You may find that you will get more pages when printing in Fastdraftmode. XL size cartridges offer up to 50% lower cost per page compared with standard size cartridges. Our recommendation would be that you leave your printer powered on in normal usage conditions, only power it down if you will not use it for an extended period of time (ie: longer than one month). Dry up if not used

I hate that these things dry up if they're not used. So you end up spending a bunch of money on ink cartridges then they dry out. To make matters worse if I want to print in black and white and I'm out of a colored ink cartridge, I still have to have those filled up. It is such a racket.

      Hi Rick,

I'm sorry that you were disappointed with how the cartridges seem to dry up if not being used. I hope to help with that though.

There is a possibility that the maintenance routines caused part of this. The tiny nozzles that spray the ink onto the paper get clogged easily. It is necessary to spray some ink through them occasionally to ensure that they stay clear.

Shutting the printer down between uses can result in some savings. However, always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That will let the printer 'park' so that the cartridges are protected from excess drying.

If you suspect there was something wrong with the cartridge which caused poor performance, you are always free to contact the seller about that.

My printer informed me that the cartridge was defective and the printer stopped working. So, put in a new cartridge and recycled the old cartridge. When I went to recycle, I was informed where I had purchased it... Best Buy... now tell me how I felt about that revelation, my first defective HP ink cartridge was purchased from Best Buy! Disappointed.
