I am sorry that you received a cartridge that did not work.That sounds like it was disappointing!
Your problem is a bit tricky. The cartridge could well be defective, or it could be a compatibility problem.
One thing that you need to check is that the cartridge includes 'z10' after the cartridge number (HP 950). If not, the seller gave you cartridges that were customized for a region other than North America.
In either case, you can contact the seller for replacement.

I am so sorry that this happened to you. Sounds like you should have been able to continue to print more!
High-density prints will use up a cartridge rapidly, especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the environment is dry. Also, a lot of black is used in just about every page printed.
Using the draft and black only settings on your printer helps save ink. Also, shutting the printer down between uses can help. However, you always have to use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That will let the printer 'park' itself so that the cartridges are protected from excess drying.
If you think the poor performance was due to something wrong with the cartridge, you can talk to the seller about it.

The XL cartridges last for a very long time. I bought this early in June and over a month later and hundreds of pages printed, it is still half full.
