I actually came home from Best Buy with two of these (long story). I put one in my printer and got the message, "Printer Failure. There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn the printer off, then on." Did that; same message. HP's help site suggested unplugging the printer for a minute. Did that; same message. I searched the net for help with this message, and found a half dozen ways to clean the printer's print head. That's the cubbyhole in the printer that you push all the cartridges into. (It's actually quite easy to remove from the printer, and it would be worth trying to clean it yourself if the alternative is buying a new print head, which costs well north of 100 bucks.) Before going this route and making a fool of myself I went back to the HP site and had a stilted conversation with their 'virtual assistant', After telling me to do all the things I'd already done it finally suggested replacing the cartridges with new ones. Even though this smelled like an attempt to sell me more stuff, I just 'happened' to already have that second one on hand, so why not try using it instead? To my surprise, it worked! Now I know that HP is capable of selling me a cartridge that's DOA, so it got kicked off my pedestal of trustworthy companies. Since serendipity isn't going to strike twice I'm going to collect the pieces for a DIY head cleaning kit just to CMA.

Easy to switch out cartridges. Printer instantly recognizes and large size lasts.

I like being able to buy the larger black mink cartridge since I print about 90% black ink.

This XL Ink cartridge is great since the majority of printing I do is very long drafts of papers and use mostly black ink. Its definitely worth the extra few bucks for the XL capacity.

The XL cartridge is a must buy vs the standard cartridge.

I prefer the XL cartridges over the regular ones. Still using HP ones over off brands
