I hate this printer....I had an HP ENVY 4500 and LOVED it...this one is junk. Very tempermental for my taste. My poor Envy died so I got this one, it's a piece of junk. I hate it! When it works it's great, when it doesn't it makes me crazy. The quality (when it works) is great!

      Hi, Michelle.

I’m sorry that your printer has stopped working. I can wholly understand why seeing an unexplained damp area and having the device not work would be an unwelcome surprise. I want to help you resolve this situation, so I’ll suggest some resources I hope will make that happen.

I can’t tell from your review why the device stopped printing. I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess what’s happening and find the best course of action. To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Model number

      - Your location
      - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies, so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link:

      Hi there.

I’m sorry you’ve had a difficult start with your printer. I can wholly understand your disappointment, considering the printer has been noisy and you’ve not found the two-sided printing feature you’d like. I want to help you resolve this situation, so I’ll provide some resources and clarifying information that I hope will reach that goal.

While you’re correct that your printer lacks automated duplex printing, it does have a manual function that accommodates two-sided prints. I suggest you consult the main user manual on our support site, specifically the section called “Print Using a Computer.” Find that manual here:
      - www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c07043347.pdf

If you need further assistance with this feature – and for input on what might be causing the excessive noise – I suggest you contact us directly so we can help you assess what’s happening and find the proper course of action. Do not waste your money this printer is terrible! It doesn’t connect to WiFi. I finally was able to print with USB but the printer alignment was off and wasted a lot of ink and paper trying to print two pages that never came out right. When I finally decided to throw in the towel I was told that the return date expired two days ago!

      Hi there.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer has not established a reliable wireless connection and has experienced the alignment issue you describe. I can clearly understand why that would be tremendously frustrating, so I’ll offer a resource and some information I hope will help.

The alignment issue concerns me most. I can’t tell from your review what’s causing that, so I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution. The printer is good however I don’t see why they are charging me to print from a printer I bought! You can only print 10 things free a month. If it’s my printer, I bought the paper and ink, why do I have to pay to print! This is ridiculous! Companies are getting so greedy it’s horrible.

      Hi, Brittany.

I’m sorry to hear you’ve encountered difficulty with your printer. It’s easy to understand why your concerns about paying to print would be confusing and ultimately frustrating, so I’ll offer some information I hope will help.

From your review, I take it that your printer is part of our Instant Ink program. Instant Ink is a printing plan, not a cartridge purchasing service. This means you choose a plan based on the number of pages you would like to print monthly. You are billed monthly at the end of each billing cycle. Replacement cartridges are shipped as needed based on usage, not by the month. Instant Ink cartridges contain much more ink than cartridges you could buy at a retailer, so they last much longer.

Instant Ink is totally voluntary, and you can cancel whenever you like. From there, you can buy cartridges at whatever rate and in whatever way is most convenient for you.

I recommend that you contact our Instant Ink program via virtual or phone agent so we can help you assess and resolve the situation. To reach a phone agent, call 1-855-785-2777. Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding. To reach a virtual agent, follow this link:

      Hi, Joseph.

I’m sorry that you’ve had a bad experience with your printer, and that you want to discard it after only six months of ownership. I can’t tell from your brief review what specific difficulties you’ve encountered, but I’ll nonetheless provide some resources aimed at helping you navigate whatever issue is at hand.

First, for help solving problems, you can visit a page on our support site that has diagnostic tools for various tasks and issues, including connectivity, print quality, cartridge installation and operating-system compatibility. Decent printer for the price ... wireless works beautifully from a phone ... not so much from a Chromebook. It seems to like to go into sleep mode (and you can't print when it is asleep), and I have not figured out how to stop that. I have an Epson on the network as well, and that one never goes into sleep mode. HP's helpdesk is useless.

      Hi there.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer hasn’t performed well regarding connectivity and sleep mode. I can understand clearly why that would be a frustrating combination, regardless of the wireless function performing well with a mobile phone, so I’ll offer some resources I hope will help.

I can’t tell from your review why your printer won’t connect to your Chromebook or whether a workaround exists for the sleep-mode dilemma, so I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and guide you through any applicable troubleshooting. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal.
