While scan speeds vary based on the complexity of a document, waiting as long as you describe for a scan to complete shouldn’t be happening. I recommend updating your printer's firmware, as this can often help improve the speed. Learn how to do that here:

This printer probably printed w/o problems 10 times and after that I kept getting connection issues with my lap top anytime I printed it would say offline -___- Not a reliable printer I wouldn’t recommend!
