Apparently this printer requires you to download a data-sucking mobile app just to set up the printer. If you value privacy, HP is not for you.

      Hi there.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer ran out of ink so quickly. I can certainly see why that would be an unwelcome surprise and a poor start to ownership. I want you to understand what’s happening with the device and remedy the problem if one exists, so I’ll offer what I hope are helpful resources and information.

First, I can’t say for certain what has happened with the ink supply in your case, but some printers come with what are known as setup cartridges, which have a lower capacity than regular or XL cartridges, and less still than ones in our Instant Ink program. If you’ve used only the cartridges that came with the printer, this could explain what you’re seeing.

However, if you’ve installed replacement cartridges, the XL cartridges designed for your printer have estimated yields of 200 to 240 pages, while the regular size cartridges are expected to produce 100 to 120 pages. How cartridges perform in your own printer varies according to numerous factors, including resolution, how dry the air is and how absorbent the paper is.

Regardless, if your results differ dramatically from the estimates above, I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find the best course of action. To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Model number
      - Serial number
      - Your location
      - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

      Hello,

I’m really sorry to hear that this printer’s yield could not meet your expectations. Please, let me help you to understand what happened exactly and also how to improve the number of pages available to print.

Please, considers these tips to improve the yield of your cartridge:
      - High density prints (such as photos, for example) usually use more ink than low-density prints (such as text, for example), especially if the type of paper absorbs more or if the environment is particularly dry.
      - Using the “draft mode” option when printing can help save ink.
      - Turn off the printer at intervals when it is not being used, it helps prevent the cartridges from drying out.
-You could consider accessing the Instant Ink service, which sends you new cartridges when you need them, with flexible monthly plans for your needs. You can find our official Instant Ink site by searching the web using the keywords “HP Instant Ink.”

If you suspect that there must be something wrong with your cartridge, contact the vendor through “Your Account – Your Orders” or you find our official support site by searching the web with keywords “HP Support.”

This printer does a great job with print quality and speed of printing for a inkjet. The user interface is a little wonky during setup from the cell phone app. After finishing the config, all was good though. HP made some odd design choices, the reason I dropped a star. The paper in and the print out trays are really weird, for lack of a better term. The discharge pushes the previous printout off the printer partially due to the paper feed tray being upright in the back of the printer. The paper feed is also external so the paper is visible unlike other models that have the internal paper feed. With the paper feed being upright the paper ends up having a natural bend to it due to gravity, and probably humidify here in Florida. Please do not get me wrong, this is a really great printer, The paper discharge may be due to the quality of paper I have also, I don't print enough color pages to keep a large stack in the paper feed and not enough to justify a monthly charge by signing up for the Instant Ink. Instant ink is a really decent program if you print a lot of pages. The cost of the ink or toner is considerably cheaper that buying when needed. The purchase is auto enabled if you sign up, so you never have to worry about checking your ink levels. Overall a good printer that could use some minor redesigns similar to the HP laser printers. If you are looking for a color inkjet, this is a excellent choice.

      Hi there.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer arrived without the setup ink cartridges you need. It’s easy to understand why that would be a jarring surprise and a dubious start to owning a new printer. With that in mind, I’ll offer some resources and information I hope will help.

First, I can’t say for sure what happened in your situation, but what you describe can occur when a printer is sold, returned to the seller, then sold again to a different buyer without being adequately inspected before shipment. I recommend you contact Best Buy customer service to see whether it can address this.

If the lack of ink is an HP oversight, I suggest you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution.
