This is a great printer. It was easy to setup, plug-in, pop-in the ink cartridges and connect to my network. The print quality is very good and the ink didn't smudge, even when touching as soon as it was printed. Paper feeds from the back, not a drawer.

I've bought HP printers in the past and I haven’t been disappointed. My last printer purchase was a HP Photosmart 6510 back in May of 2012. I placed the HP 4155 next to the 6510 just to have a side-by-side comparison. For the most, they both look to be the same size, with the exception of the 4155 having a document feed tray on top. The instructions state to download the HP app to your phone to setup the printer. Not an issue as I had already downloaded the app about a year ago. The app found the printer to print from my phone, however, the app was having trouble finding my Wi-Fi and would not connect the printer by Wi-Fi. I uninstalled the app and then reinstall and had the same issue. After multiple attempts with my phone, I decided to attempt to install the printer on my laptop. I downloaded the HP app to my laptop and it found the Wi-Fi on its own, automatically found the 4155 and set it up to print. After this, I went back to my phone and surprisingly…NOW the app found my Wi-Fi connection and connected the printer to my phone. I continued to connect to my tablet and my wife’s devices with no further issues. Ran the test pages on all the devices and no issues. Scanned documents and no issues. Used the document feeder to print multiple pages and no issues. Finally, I attempted to print double sided. The 4155 will not double print automatically. You have to manually take the first printed page, flip it over, and set it up to be printed on the other side. Next is the Instant Ink Delivery Service. Basically, the printer will keep track of your ink levels and ink will be shipped to you automatically when the printer is getting low. The printer comes with a two-month trial period and then based on how much you print a month will determine the monthly cost. 15 pages and under a month is free while 15 – 50 pages a month is $2.99 a month. The prices increase based on your usage with $19.99 a month the highest if you print 700 pages a month. So, while I like having the document feeder, this printer would be perfect if the printer provided an option for automatic double-sided printing like the 6510 I bought in 2012. I’m aware a 4000 series doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of a 6000 series, but this is also the reason why I can’t recommend this printer. If you don’t print a lot and you’re ok with single-sided printing, go for it. If you print a lot and you need to double-side documents a good amount, this isn’t the printer for you.

I can’t tell quite what happened to your printer, but if you haven’t already, I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Model number
      - Serial number
      - Your location
      - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies, so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link: support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty

I am so far very pleased with this printer! Setting up the printer was not difficult at all. The print quality is clear and vibrant. It prints pretty quickly. I like how I can print from all of my different devices with ease. I mainly have used my phone to print because it's very simple and quick. I am loving the 6 months of free ink, and taking advantage of it. Overall happy with this purchase, it's working well for me as a full-time student and a future teacher!

I would recommend this to a friend
