Decent printer with potentially high ink costs

The printer includes HP+ ink subscription options to keep you well-stocked with ink. Pros: - Easy set up - Decent print quality for an inkjet printer - Relatively navigable software (for Mac and mobile devices) - eFax service available - Fast printing in black and white - Scanning is quick, relatively good quality, and easy to set up Cons: - The top cover which houses the document feed for scanning does not have any sort of mechanism to keep the top from slamming (HARD) down on to the glass; you really need to be careful. - HP+ Ink service is a bit confusing and can be very expensive if you don't select the right subscription. More on this below - Small LCD screen doesn't provide much information Overall, for this price point, this is a decent printer/scanner. My issue is with HP+ Instant Ink. They don't explain the program as well as I think they could and you can end up with costly ink charges. The default was the $4.99/month plan - which for home-use is likely reasonable (100 pages per month). But, what is not clear - at least not to me - is if you don't print the quantity per month - will ink be shipped anyway? For example, if I only print 20 pages in a given month, the printer won't need ink. Looking through the website, it appears that they will send ink automatically "before you need them" and with free shipping/recycling for the new/old cartridges. It isn't clear to me when that will actually be. In all fairness, I haven't met the 100 page threshold yet, but it's still unclear to me whether more ink will be shipped if I don't actually need ink and when. I do not plan to continue with the HP+ Instant Ink program after the trial. All in all, this is a very decent printer for the price. As I mentioned, I think the HP+ Instant Ink program has room for elaboration to make it clearer. I am hoping as the printer gets used more and more, the software will alert me as to when (and if?) ink is due to be shipped. I would like more control. I would recommend this printer/scanner all-in-one itself, but I do not recommend enrolling in the HP+ Instant Ink program.

I can certainly understand why you’d be trepidatious, given your uncertainties. I want you to have the best experience possible with the device, so I’ll offer some clarifying information about Instant Ink and a resource I hope will help you going forward.
First, Instant Ink is a printing plan, not a cartridge purchasing service. This means you choose a plan based on the number of pages you would like to print monthly – in your case, 100. You are billed monthly at the end of each billing cycle. Replacement cartridges are shipped as needed, based on usage, not by the month. As a result, no Instant Ink subscriber would receive additional cartridges unless the printer needs them. I’ll also point out that Instant Ink cartridges contain much more ink than cartridges you could buy at a retailer, so they last much longer.

An inexpensive printer to handle basic printing ne

I can print, scan, copy & fax using my phone or computer. Setting it up was as easy as turning on the printer and installing the HP Smart App to complete the setup. Remote printing is possible with additional email addresses. I printed photos and documents and scanned and copied documents. The production qualities of my printing jobs are perfect with colors and words printed bold and sharp. The HP DeskJet Pluls 4155 is great to add to my computer and phone for printing needs.

Work From Home Must Have

You want to avoid going out and also at the same time do not want three different equipments sitting at home for doing all of the printing, scanning or faxing. So, this is the solution. It is a cheap, wireless all-in-one printer which does the printing, scanning and faxing. It is easy to setup, the cartridges are cheap and does the job efficiently. Talking through the details... SETUP setup is straight forward, download the HP Smart App from Appstore (google or apple) and follow the directions to setup the printer wirelessly. The paper tray can hold 60 pages and the automatic feeder had 35 pages. The printer has an LCD screen which shows you the ink status , copies left , wifi status. Wifi connection is 2.4Ghz only and does not support 5Ghz. This is not anything bad because all wifi networks support 2.4GHZ and it has a longer range as compared to 5Ghz In case of printer, range is more important than speed. PRINT, FAX and SCAN Once the printer is setup, since it is wireless, you can print , scan or fax documents from windows machine, Macbook or a phone. The printer can print decent quality prints and fairly fast. Note that the printer is bluetooth enabled and you can print documents using bluetooth connection as well. HP provides 12 months of free fax which comes in handy because you do not need to run to staples to fax documents. The printer can print 120 pages with the regular cartridge but with XL, the capacity doubles. The cartridges are cheap and you do not need to have both color and black installed to print, If you do not care about color prints, you can just use black and it will work fine,. Overall i think this is a value buy
