This is a horrible printer. It won’t print off the Internet Dash like if I get an address label sent to me so I can return a purchase, print out a receipt that I need for taxes. Those are just two examples. I have to go through hell to get it to print. I get emails over and over from Best Buy telling me what else I could buy. I don’t want anything else! I am inundated with ads in my email Dash spam, in my mail, in radio and TV. It makes me sick. I think I will return this printer but I’m afraid I will get something worse and I need a printer/copier machine. It’s also very slow to respond.

I hate this printer, it keeps disconnecting from my computer and then it takes me about 30 minutes to get it running again, I'm going to junk it and buy a different brand. Oh, and that HPSmart app that controls the printer is junk too. HP brand has gone downhill over the past 10- years. I'll never buy another HP product again.

    Run Far Away

I read the reviews about challenging setups and thought…heck, I’m an IT guy - it can’t be that hard. After 40 minutes of following the instructions to no avail and doing my own troubleshooting, I called HP Support. 3 hours later, 3 technicians, and no resolution - “We’ll need to have engineering call you back on Monday. We have exhausted every option.” And, that’s true. We did it all and still the wireless configuration in the printer would not work. So, I returned it. Bought a Canon. Up and running in 10 minutes. HP needs to figure out their wireless configuration because I won’t buy an HP for a long time now.

Awful printer! 99% of the time it won’t connect, it won’t print from any of our computers but one. Then when your “instant ink” subscription runs out (by the way our shouldn’t even be out yet) it won’t print AT ALL unless you give them a credit card? I’m beyond livid. I print a lot and these issues started popping ip 2 months in (ya know once you can’t return the piece of junk) so here I am, yet again unable to print an hour before meeting my client. HP’s customer service has yet to respond.

    Stay away

First time setup was incredibly difficult. Very confusing process, my desktop can’t find the printer and then I’m told it’s because I’m using an Ethernet connection. (Why does that change anything?) the lack of a usable display forces you to middle man through the slow, counterintuitive, “HP smart” app to connect. Once downloaded, the app has both times on both networks I’ve tried to set up on, been terribly slow, constant vague errors, and troubleshooting offers no solutions. Upon setup on a new network the printer is “offline” for no real reason after connecting until I unplug then plug back in. Once trying to print on the new network, I get E1 error codes every attempt even though my paper size settings are correct. I had so much trouble getting this connected just for it to not work. The scanner was sub-par and mostly produced illegible work when it was working, it was slow and took 2 different devices to make the wireless setup happen each time. So far I’ve wasted a cumulative 4 hours between each setup and first attempts at printing. Awful product, get it off the shelves. Bluetooth, hardwire, a chance to choose the WiFi network via the printer rather than through another device are all valid options. Why make this such a task? Stay away from HP as I’ve seen similar reviews of all printing products. Either mine is defective or the printer sucks. Since I somehow managed to get it functioning the first time, I’m inclined to believe it’s the printer. Not me.

I have had this printer for 1 month. I regret the day I bought it. I have had to uninstall and reinstall it a number of times. I finally got someone on the phone and after almost an hour, they got it to work, but when I tried using it after we hung up, the same problems started again. When you tell it to scan, it says it cannot locate the scanner. All my problems has been in scan mode.

About 9 months ago I received this printer as a test product and had had no issues with the printer. I gave the printer a very positive review. I don't use a printer very often and it had been about a month since I last used this and now it won't even feed paper regardless of how much I put in it. The paper did not change from the last time I used it. I cannot recommend this printer. When new it was quite good. But after it has been used, it appears that it is fragile and isn't very durable.

      Hi there.

Thanks for taking the time to write the review and report your experience over time with the printer. While I’m glad it worked well for several months, I’m sorry to hear that the document feeder won’t process paper like it should. I can certainly understand why that would be a jarring surprise, especially considering it had worked well before and the problem showed up with no explanation. I would love for you to get the device working like it should, so I’ll offer some resources aimed at reaching that goal.

First, I recommend you follow the steps in this guide to document feeders that fail to pick up any paper or pull through too many pages at once:

    Difficult to Set Up

    Posted .

HP asks you to download an app to set up the printer, but it's much easier to connect it to a computer with a printer cable(Not provided in the package). I could not get the phone app to work at all. It refused to connect to my wi-fi even though I entered the correct password to my router. I'm giving three stars because the printer itself is nice once you get it set up. Just don't use the phone app. If you purchase this, make sure you have a USB 2.0 A to B cable, because the app will more than likely fail on you.

    Terrible wireless connectivity

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have had this printer for almost a year now and I am so frustrated with HP. I will never buy an HP printer again. Most of the time I have to restart my printer, or restart my computer for them to communicate with each other. HP makes you constantly login to even get to the printer options. The whole process is ridiculous. While the print quality is ok - it takes forever to make the stupid printer work.
